About this property
Sea Views and Walk to the Beach! 2 Bedrooms/1 Bath/Full Kitchen
A 5 minute walk to a 3.5 mile beach, the 2 Bedroom/1 Bath Boathouse is on the second floor above the Garage/Boathouse. Sweeping views of the Exuma Sound and fresh breezes make this a great vacation spot to share with friends.
Fully furnished and complete with: Towels and Linens, Beach Gear, Grill, Screened Porch, Sun Deck, Gourmet Cooking tools for the Full Kitchen (complete with ice-maker!), Shared use of Kayaks and Bicycles. Maps and Guides to local spots.
Curl up in the Hammock with a cold drink and a book. Take your fishing pole out to the bight and catch your dinner, then bring it back to the fish cleaning station and BBQ an evening of fresh seafood. Or ask us to get some fresh fish for you and have it prepared while you just relax. Kayak out to the nearby Cays for a morning of snorkeling. Or just pull up a beach chair and enjoy the water.
Long Island is one of the most unique islands in the Bahamas. For many people, it is considered the hidden Bahamas. On the northern tip there are dramatic sea cliffs overlooking the dark blue water where Columbus anchored the Santa Maria when he discovered the island in 1492. The beaches are incredible. Talcum-powder fine white sand and crushed pink and brown shell cover some of the most stunning beaches in the Bahamas. The water is clear, warm, and turquoise blue. From hillside perches, where cool trade winds blow, you can look down to stretches of spectacular coast and water so pristine you can see multiple shades of blue in the depths of the ocean. Yet this island has much more to offer than its natural beauty; it is safe, easily accessible by air, close to the United States, and home to friendly English-speaking locals.
If you have any special requests please let us know. If you need some groceries, beer, liquor or soda we'd be happy to pick that up for you so it will be ready upon like a nice cold drink after a day of travelling.
Same thing with arrangements for Rental Cars, Fishing guides, !!! We are here to take the mystery out of Long Island so you can have a stress-free stay and pack in as much fun as possible while you are here.
Don't miss the opportunity to explore Long Island, which is the most attractive of all the Bahamas out islands, with quaint settlements dotted between gentle rolling hills. Here nature is still unspoiled. Historical sites remind us of the interesting past and where people are amongst the friendliest in the Bahamas. This is the perfect spot for a Bahamas vacation of a lifetime!

About the host
Hosted by Sara Werra

Originally from Wisconsin (way back when!(GoPackGo!!)) Dan and Sara met in Chicago working in the Hospitality industry together. We set sail from Chicago in the fall of 1995 and haven't looked back since. We love sharing the uniqueness of Long Island, The Bahamas with all visitors every year for the "season". Summer months are spent back in the hospitality business, currently enjoying our jobs in West Yellowstone, MT.
Why they chose this property
Dan and Sara (us!) traveled to the Bahamas first by sailboat in 1996. We eventually found and fell in love with Long Island. It just felt like "home" with the fabulous people and calming vibe. In 2001 we purchased our first piece of property and began construction of our home in 2003, building it by ourselves during our summers off of work in the Florida Keys. We completed our home in 2006 and built our first Guest House in 2007/8 (The Cottage). In 2014 we purchased additional land and while designing our garage/boathouse we decided to add an 'apartment' above. We look forward to sharing The Boathouse with you!
What makes this property unique
The views of Exuma Sound from the Boathouse are beautiful and full of fresh breezes and amazing sunsets. A covered patio houses the grill and dining table, along with comfy chairs to sit in with your morning coffee listening to the birds, or a Sundowner cocktail in the evenings while catching the sunset. We also have the perfect spot to sit in the sun and swing in a hammock, while being close enough to the house to get your drinks delivered! A 5-minute walk with take you to Sunset Beach, where you can kayak, swim, float or sunbathe. Snorkel gear is available to check out the cays off shore.
