Our river cottage was built in 1940. Perched on the bank of the Toccoa River, our house is perfect for couples or families looking to explore McCaysville, Blue Ridge and the Copper Basin area. Our home fronts Toccoa Avenue in McCaysville which means the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad is just across the road! It's a favorite activity to step outside when you hear the train whistle so you can wave at the riders as they pass by!
This 1940 River Cottage has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The first bathroom is a full bath and the second is a large bathroom with shower; perfect for cleaning up after your river activities.
Bedroom one is on the main floor and has a California King bed and a Smart television. Bedroom two is on the main floor and has a queen size bed. Bedrooms three and four are upstairs where the 1940's charm and craftsmanship shines. Bedroom three has a full bed and bedroom four has two built in twin beds. You'll love this charming upstairs space!
The living room has plenty of space for lounging around, watching the smart TV or taking a mid afternoon nap.
Our eat in kitchen with new gas stove is fully equipped to satisfy your cooking needs. Sit at the table and watch the river go by as you enjoy a meal or play a game of cards! This is a favorite spot for many visitors.
We have two adirondack chairs in the back yard to sit in and watch the Toccoa River roll by. We recently (August 2023) added stone steps all the way into the river to give access to the water for fishing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming. While you’re in McCaysville, don’t forget to walk downtown to take your picture straddling the Georgia/Tennessee State line and try out some of the local restaurants. The river house is about 15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia where you'll find lots of shopping and dining experiences and 15 minutes from the Ocoee Whitewater Center, home of the 1996 Whitewater Olympics events. Though the visitor center burned a few years ago, there are year round hiking and biking trails available in the area in addition to seasonal commercial rafting or kayaking excursions on both the Ocoee and Toccoa rivers. As the description says, this is a 1940 River Cottage. It isn't a cabin. It isn't a new build, but we believe you will love this little charmer as soon as you walk in!
