misleading pictures

I know it may be clearer in the notes, but having the first picture for this unit be a picture of the beach view from a different unit was very disappointing. Please remove that picture from this unit page.

This was a weird experience. On the second day of arrival, the guest emailed us on how they love the place and inquired on staying here for a longer period. Later my property manager noticed the screen windows were all taken off and guests were painting their car inside the garage (which left permanent paint marks on the floor). We inquired with the guests and were told to leave them alone. Ironically, guests later complained to VRBO on the flies in the room and they may contract COVID from flies, which has no scientific basis at all and which was resulted from them taking screens off the windows. Sorry for the hot experience since there was a heat wave during the stay. The Unit has no AC as most of the mission beach properties, but we provided many fans.

Great location

Location is great. Does not have a/c as advertised. Would have only needed it a few times, except the house was being sanded and painted our whole week. Dust/workers talking all day right outside the open windows. Small unit, but awesome location.

To sad to see this review. This guest arrived one day earlier than her booked arrival date. My team responded quickly and accommodated her for the night in the front larger 3 bedroom unit with ocean view. We even gave her the night at the same price as the small unit (which usually is twice the cost). After moving back to the unit she booked which has no ocean view inside the unit , as clearly stated in the property description, she complained the unit did not have ocean view. I just hope she showed in her review at least some level of appreciation of what my team did for her.

Poor Stay

The owner forgot about my booking, causing us to be stuck outside while the property manager tried to figure everything out. The second unit occupants thought they were in my unit, actually had the code to unlock the door. Eventually the property manager got everything sorted. She was helpful. Can’t say the same about the owner. Also negatively affecting our stay were the second unit occupants. They rudely took over our dedicated outside space. Using our table and bbq area as their beach storage (wet clothes, cooler, sand, etc. ). They also used our washer/and dryer everyday. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this unit or owner.

I apologize for failing to record this booking to my property manager so it delayed check in. This is probably the only error on myself for the last 13 years ever since I started vacation rental. I was out of country traveling while the booking came in and sent a note to my property manager but did not realize the email did not go thru. I am glad we were able to sort out the issue and got you in. With regard to the front unit tenants using your spaces and W/D, I wished you had contacted my property manager who would surely clarify that with the other units. Sorry again for the experience.

Over priced

This property is overpriced. My sister rented the unit right next door with 2 full bedrooms with closets (no closets in this unit), it was cleaner, decorated nicer and about 400 square feet bigger. Here's the kicker, we booked at the same time and hers was much cheaper!!! There were no drinking glasses in this unit upon arrival and after asking we received some after 2 days of drinking out of mugs (how long have they had no glasses?). A picture on the wall was placed upside down by some previous guest yet no one noticed to fix it. Gave a feel of unprofessionalism. This unit advertises sleeping 6 yet we only had 5 bath towels and 5 beach towels. When I asked prior to arriving if there were any beach chairs, they didn't know and suggested I bring some. Both my sister and I have been staying at VRBO's in Mission Beach for 20 years and every single unit had a few beach chairs for us to use. There is a huge crack in the wall where a pocket door was added which goes through to the other side of the wall. Gives a feeling of instability and that basic maintenance isn't being addressed. There were many maintenance type issues (storm door wouldn't shut correctly, utensils in kitchen were broken but not replaced, cracks in the wall, towel rack in bathroom kept falling off etc). The best part of this unit is it is 1 block from the beach and very convenient. The kitchen was updated and nice. However, I am very disappointed in the lack of maintenance for this unit and how grossly overpriced it is. If they drop the price significantly it would be a better value. The property manager did a great job at responding to our concerns.

Apologies for your experience. Thanks for point the issues out. 1. Just discussed with my property manager on improvements we will do — inventory of utensils to prevent broken pieces and also mixing up supplies between the two units(There was a large group before you rented both who took and left the drinking glasses to the other unit), ensure there are 6+ towel sets , pay attention of the hanging picture, etc. ( loose towel bar was fixed right after your departure) 2. Crack and some other handyman work were on the list to be fixed after summer, which is crazy period for handyman. 3. Cleanliness - we actually are proud of the job the cleaning crew does. I changed quite a few cleaning services until the current one. We got many compliments on the job she does. 4. Price- I followed the dynamic pricing suggestion from VRBO system. Not sure why big difference. But location wise it is a premium spot. Thanks again for sharing your feedback for improvement.

Great Location

The location of the property was great, use of garage and laundry were very nice, too. Communication was great prior to and during our trip. The unit was older and seemed bigger in the pictures. Nice breeze at night helped cool down the house during days in the mid 60's, not sure how cool it would stay during hot weather since there isn't AC. New kitchen cabinets and counters were nice, but little to no extra kitchen items. Plan ahead if you want to cook.

Perfect getaway with my kids . We loved it . Perfect location .

Perfect location. We loved it there . Kids loved it also. I was planning on buying beach towels and sand toys while we get there but the house had it all . Which made it so much easier and fun. We enjoyed every second and hearing the ocean at night was wonderful . It does have an ocean view from the shower :) we used it to sleep , change and that was perfect for our needs . Thank you.

Great if you set your expectations

This property is in a great location and has the basics. Property manager is great and very responsive. However, make sure you have the right expectations on what you are getting. These were the biggest issues for us: 1. the place is clean and pretty well equipped but is in real need of an update -- old paint, old furniture, old refrigerator (no ice or water!) 2. it is very small and the second bedroom is almost unusable. It has bunk beds but having 2 people in there (or even 1) would not be comfortable 3. walls are thin -- it can be noisy outside 4. patio area has a table but not a place you'd want to sit Otherwise, it is in a great location near to the beach and has all the basics -- still better than a hotel room.

This was a great vacation rental. I left my glasses at the property the management company mailed them back to me in Az. Great service!!! Clean hose. So close to the beach, shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great Location

Great location great property and the owner and property manager were awesome in taking care of my needs. I had technical difficulties with my I phone and had no computer they were truly incredible. I highly reccomend this property as some one born and raised in San Diego but no longer live there. I am a 50 year old who likes to get together with all of my friends from San Diego at least 3 times a year to surf play golf and eat good taco shop food

Sandtastic Apartment

Great little apartment right next to the beach. Was clean and comfortable for my family of four adults. The second bedroom is mostly a bunk bed space, but it worked for my two sons. Not much room in that part for other than sleeping. Master was a good size, but could use its own TV. Kitchen, was big for an apartment, clean and new. The refrigerator is old and the shelving is in poor shape, but it was big enough. There are fans and lots of open windows that kept the apartment nice and cool. The garage was a normal size and I could fit my truck be in it. The location is sweet, but no views. I just walked down stairs to the court side walk and I was at the board walk in just a few steps. At night the front buildings funnel the ocean waves sound right into the bedroom windows...great sleeping music. The couches and living area are clean and comfortable. It was a really good rental. Recommended for sure.

Truly enjoyed the stay. So close to beach and everything else. Walking along the broad walk and watching the sunset are really relaxing experience. No need to drive in and out and find parking spot. Many activities and things are all within walking distance. Unit is not big, but clean dan functioning well. New grill, door, and patio set. Enjoyed our stay.

location was great but condition of property was not!

This property was not in good condition... a smoke detector was going off when we arrived and it took us 4 phone calls and 2 hours to get it turned off. Also, the patio areas where not as described, very run down with a rusted out table and chairs, along with broken beach chairs, toys etc. There was no place to sit outside and enjoy the ocean breeze and the screen door to the unit was also rusted out with a large hole in it, making it unsafe to sleep with the door open. Pictures of the unit as advertised where over 12 years old. For the price, I expected a lot more than what this unit had to offer. I have rented various units at Mission Beach and have never been misled by a property description until this trip.

Thanks for the feedback. We apologize for the situation. Had long discussion with the new property management. Replaced with brand new patio set, grill and screen door, etc. Handyman has spent more than one day in the unit fixing, painting and cleaning up, some furnitures are in the process of being replaced this week. Starting now, we will do routine maintenances to ensure it is in the proper condition. Would really like to obtain timely feedback so we can correct any issues right away.

WE WILL NEVER AGAIN STAY A PROPERTY FROM VRBO AS THEY SHOULD BE BETTER INFORMED OF THE PROPERTIES THEY ARE POSTING FOR FAMILIES SUCH AS OURSELVES TO RENT. THE PHOTOS APPEAR TO BE VERY OLD AND THE PROPERTY NEEDS A COMPLETE REMODEL. FROM THE ADDRESS WE STAYED IN THE OCEAN IS NOT IN VIEW LIKE THE PHOTO THAT IS POSTED. OUR MISTAKE WAS NOT DEMANDING A REFUND WHEN WE ARRIVED. WORD OF ADVICE MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK IF YOU DECIDE TO RENT FROM VRBO SO YOU DO NOT STAY IN A VERY RUNDOWN PROPERTY.

In addition, we do address any issues guests bought up timely.
