We greatly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home with amazing views. We took advantage of the hot tub daily and watched the river from the deck. We cooked dinner every night in the well-stocked kitchen. We hope to return soon!
Loved our stay! The view was worth it all and the home was comfortable, clean and well equiped. Peaceful, quiet area but still close to a few options for restuarants in Meadow Vista or easy access to 80 to explore elsewhere. We had trouble signing on to the tv to, Wifi worked but not super strong, but it was actually kind of nice to not automatically turn to that for entertainment. Tons of games and cards to choose from. Our dog loved exploring the fenced in yard and it was fun to take the trails down to the pond and river. Spring is a bit buggy but to be expected and the host provided lots of options for sprays and lotions.
This location is serene! Nothing to take your attention except the stars in the sky and the whisper of the rushing river below. The beds were comfortable. The house was spacious. And it was just close enough to civilization for a couple nights out on the town! Highly suggest a run to the local coffee shop as well!
Most amazing location and beautifully appointed house. My favorite part was enjoying my morning coffee on the deck overlooking the river. Trails on the property including access to the river. Hot tub on the deck perfect way to end the day. Remote location but quick access to Auburn.
We enjoyed our stay at Folkenvale! Everything was fantastic. We enjoyed watching the sunset and eating dinner on the deck overlooking the canyon. I would love to stay here again in the future.
Excellent private river view location, the sound of the river floats in through the doors for a wonderful intoxicating invitation to soak up the nature that surrounds the property. At night the stars light up the sky and the view from the master bedroom is breathtaking. Enjoyable stay for everyone.
We had an excellent stay in Meadow Vista. The property is beautiful and the house is well furnished. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen is. The beds are mostly comfortable. The king is a bit soft for our liking, but otherwise everything was perfect!
This house was just right — and amazing!
8 “old” cousins gathered from all over the USA to reminisce and reacquaint.
The seating allowed best visiting while enjoying the view. The location was quiet and deer visited while hawks (buzzards) flew overhead.
A walk toward the river was challenging because of the steep hill. The adventurous will enjoy.
Great place and beautiful surroundings.
Perfect home nestled at the top of a ravine surrounded by trees. Only a few minutes away from town and all the California Gold country has to offer. I mountain biked and hiked, and dipped in the river. Highly recommend this home. It's beautiful and well stocked and beautifully decorated. My pup loved the huge fenced yard.
Thanks!
We loved this peaceful home with stunning views of the river. Every window and piece of art in the house is intentional and in keeping with the nature that surrounds it. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The beds, baths and kitchen are well equipped and comfortable. If you are arriving after dark, be aware that is it dark. If you are doing lots of activities, be prepared to drive. The remoteness of the home is part of the charm.
What a lovely retreat! Every window reveals a breathtaking view of the Bear River below or the wooded forest surrounding the property. The wraparound deck and thoughtful construction provides a warm and inviting space that allows people to easily gather together or find a quiet nook for reading, napping or meditating. The hot tub and fire pit provided rich backdrop for happy new memories. When the weather cleared, we had a great opportunity to explore the trails and take in the peaceful space known as the Hammock Forest. The home includes a well equipped kitchen for home-cooked meals, indoor fire stove and state of the art washer and dryer to keep days focused on the beauty at hand. Would recommend this retreat to anyone trying to get away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the precious moments.

Whispering Pines Haven
If you want a magical place to reset and recharge with childhood nostalgic adventure, this is the place to go! I don't get caught speechless very often but this time I am! So much to say and convey about this special retreat! I booked this trip for a Scorpio getaway in early November, and it was perfect! Perfect weather, perfect sunsets from the balcony, perfect hike down to Bear River! The hostess really set it up where everything is labeled in the kitchen and so many amenities that set this air b and b apart from the rest I have been to so far! Hot tub(we didn't have time to use since we were busy visiting, cooking, and exploring), outdoor shower, outdoor fire pit, fire place, spectacular views, balconies, solarium, kitchen necessities(the charcuterie boards came in handy), porch swing, tons of cozy seating vignettes all around(including a hammock forest), privacy and super comfy beds! I just felt so comfortable! Let me tell you, getting out of the shower in the master bedroom and seeing the surreal views took my breath away! There are views from every part of the house! I have so much to say but you will just have to go see for yourself! I am going to stay here again, I loved it so much! From this trip, I take away the best memories!

Beautiful & peaceful getaway
We had an amazing time at this home, probably the nicest rental I've ever stayed at! The views of the river are stunning - and I love the all of the deck spaces to sit and take in the nature & sounds of the river. I rarely sleep better at a rental house than in my own bed, but the master bed was immensely comfortable... and I could have rested in it while looking at the surrounding nature all day long. We loved soaking in the hot tub as the sun was setting. You can tell that someone who cooks has outfitted the kitchen with all the essentials - including a wonderful collection of spices, oil/vinegar, and teas. Many vacation rentals feel sterol, but this rental feels cozy and homelike. I love that it was off the beaten path and tucked away in nature, but close to the city of Auburn - where I had the best time shopping on Saturday morning. It really is the best of both worlds! I would stay here again in a heart beat - and would recommend to anyone looking for restful (and fun) retreat.
This house is perfect! The view is stunning, the house is well layed out and has everything you need. It was so quiet, it is hard to belive it is only about 12 minutes to town. We were in town for a wedding, and it was hard to leave the house and go to all the festivities. I could have just stayed at the house for a week and never left. Hiking down to the river is worth it, but you can also just sit on the porch and take in the lovely views! The host checked in to make sure everything was going smoothly and was very helpful without being intrusive. The upstairs can get a little warm. It cooled off easily at night, but if you have little ones who go to sleep early and are used to a cool room, you might have to plan a little to make sure it cools off in time. We were there at the hottest time of year, so I imagine its not an issue most of the year.
