The Cape Cod-style home sits one door down from Kids' Corner park, one block off Lake Michigan and the Blue Stairs of South Beach, five blocks from the South Pier lighthouse, a quick walk from the picturesque downtown South Haven, and blocks from the Kal-Haven Trail for 33 miles of running and biking.

Enter the lakehouse from the covered front porch right into the sprawling living room that’s perfect for gathering with family and friends. The room boasts a modern L-shaped couch, cedar-paneled accent ceiling, 60-inch television, and Bluetooth-friendly sound bar. The open space flows right out to the back deck, fun-packed garage, and yard with fire pit. Hardwood floors throughout the house make it easy to sweep up any sand that might sneak in from your beach adventures.

Between visits to the local eateries, stay in and cook in the cheerful, cottage-y kitchen with all the dishes, pans and appliances you may need. Host dinner around the farmhouse table in the dining room or slide into the spacious kitchen breakfast nook for a game of euchre. Enjoy the soothing sounds and breezes of Lake Michigan as you grill out on the propane Weber Grill on the backyard deck, which offers a clear view of the Kids' Corner playground. The house is great for families with children, with a garage full of beach and yard toys, an outdoor shower, pack-and-play, high chair, toys, kids’ books, and games. Yet the place also features plenty of comforts for the adult crowd as well!

The four upstairs bedrooms, stocked with fresh linens, provide a handy mix of sleeping options: two bedrooms that each have a queen bed, one bedroom with two full beds, and one bedroom with two single beds and two pull-out trundle beds. The house has one centrally located full bathroom upstairs and one full bathroom downstairs for easy access from the backyard and gathering areas.

Parking and unloading your vehicles are a breeze in the four-car private driveway and free street parking.

Lovely week in South Haven

Had a great trip and very much enjoyed the house! It was a great space for 7 people (5 adults and 2 kids) and was well accommodating and fully stocked. The location is so close to the beach and playground! Definitely recommend this home!

Wonderful family beach vacation

We loved our stay in South Haven! This home has everything you could need for a vacation (beach toys to birthday candles)! The kitchen is fully stocked with several pantry items. We spent hours reading on the front porch, playing corn hole in the backyard, and playing games at the kitchen table. The upstairs shower has FIVE shower heads - it’s a treat.

This is our second year staying at this property and we enjoyed it just as well. The location with little people along is great with the playground and beach so close, and the house itself is stocked with all things useful to make vacationing with young ones easier (as well as other thoughtful items for the adults). Communication with the owner was excellent. The house was also clean. We recommend this property!

We loved our stay! Super family friendly, stocked with everything you need and more. You could just bring food and your swimsuit and you’d be all set! We enjoyed playing card games at the breakfast nook with our 4 year old every morning. Tons of outdoor toys kept our kiddos busy. Can walk to multiple beaches, park, and into town.

This property is in a great location to the beach, downtown and a Catholic Church. Wonderful home for small children. There are gates at both the top and bottom of the staircase, children’s toys and books. Fully stocked kitchen with a Keurig and regular coffee pot. Would definitely rent again!

Owner reached out right away on check-in, very attentive, welcoming. Nice home with lots of ‘little’ things that made the stay especially enjoyable….plenty of items to keep kids entertained. Garage had several chairs, wagon for hauling stuff the short walk to the beach, also xtra fridge was nice. Large front porch for relaxing in the evening. Can’t beat the location, so close to the Blue Stairs beach area, which was ‘widened’ this year with xtra sand. Would stay again.

I can’t say enough about our experience at this house and in South Haven. It was the most family friendly and well-equipped home we’ve rented. We would rebook in a heartbeat! It literally had everything we needed! The care and attention to making guests feel welcome, equipped, and ready for family fun was outstanding. The location to the beach, the amazing park, and walking/biking to town was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for anything better! Summer Vacation

We had a fantastic time staying in this house! The house was very clean, in a great location and had all the amenities we could have hoped for which made the trip so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Kristi was very responsive and the check in and check out process were smooth and problem free. Our kids loved the beach toys and it made our packing for the trip so much easier. Moms and daughters girls weekend

Great house for girls weekend. Two moms and daughters with some of their friends. Connecting bedrooms were perfect for the 14 yo girls while adults had their own rooms. Short walk to the beach and shopping. Fire pit was a hit. Well stocked with games and beach supplies. Monopoly marathon continued long after the moms went to bed. We hope to stay here again!

So Happy in South Haven

There is probably a perfect version of everything - a perfect peach, a perfect cup of coffee, a perfectly mown lawn - and we measure everything in the world against that ideal. If so, this house comes closer to the ideal summer vacation rental as any of the places that my family and I have stayed in over a decade. It's clean, it's spacious, it has everything you need to prepare food, and it has more games, beach accessories, and other delightful items than we could possibly have imagined. South Haven is a great place to spend a vacation, and this house was the perfect place to do it. We had a great experience and are grateful.

Family Beach Weekend

This house was a dream and made for the best family (multigenerational) week in South Haven. Absolutely perfect location for kids since we were steps from the Kids Corner playground and an easy one-block walk to the Blue Stairs Beach. The house was very clean and every little detail was thought out. From the blackout shades in the kids room, to the sound machines, to everything you could want in the kitchen, nothing was missing. We especially enjoyed the garage that overflowed with everything you could want for the beach and also an extra fridge and hangout spot. After washing the kids off in the outdoor shower we enjoyed many evenings on the beautiful front porch. My only regret is that we can’t make this an annual trip, because we would 100% stay here again. Thank you for providing such an amazing place for us to make so many family memories.

This house was very nearly perfect for our wants and needs. First off, I can be particular and this house was CLEAN with updated decor. Second, the location was great. Brand new, large playground is super close, as is the beach access. The walk to the pier/marina/downtown is further but very doable. The neighborhood is tidy, pretty, and peaceful to walk through. Third, this house is stocked. We had littles in our party and the owners have given a lot of consideration to accommodating them, right down to an infant bathtub. We can agree with a previous reviewer that it is the best stocked rental we've stayed at. And last but not least, the owners were pleasant to communicate with. We hope to be back sometime!

Our family of 9, ages 1-44, stayed for a week and this house had EVERYTHING we could need. I was worried the pictures were misleading of the size but this house was BIG! We had plenty of space to spread out, play games, eat meals together or apart and relax. The newly remodeled park is a minute walk away and it’s about a block to the beach. We walked everywhere all week. The fully stocked game cabinet and garage was a lifesaver. If you’re traveling with little ones… this is a great house for it. We had baby gates, high chairs, play yards, bathing stuff, a wagon etc waiting for us so we didn’t have to lug it all in the car! We have stayed in several VRBO houses but this one was best because of the location and how well stocked it was… anything you need->this house has it!

Gorgeous Home, Owners Have Thought of Everything

I cannot say enough about how much I loved this house and the accommodations. It is an older home with modern upgrades, beautiful interior designing and a few, fun quirky details. I love the creaky wooden steps to the upstairs, the original wood bannister railing and a few slanted ceilings. All so charming! The owners have thought of absolutely everything too. The plethora of board games, toys and books for youngsters, digital games for older kids, a complete stocked kitchen, nightlights, ceiling fans, and even a jewelry dish bedside. We stayed in the fall so there was no lake swimming but we did walk on the beach and shop! The sunsets were amazing. The location was fantastic. One short block to the lake and one house over to a huge playground. The owner, Kristi, texted to make sure everything was okay and in order. She could not have been nicer. VRBO done right.

Fabulous stay in South Haven!

This house was perfect for our first trip to South Haven. The location truly could not be beat-- steps from the beach, a short walk into town, close to trails for walking/running. The house was very clean and just as described. It was great to have both the front and back porches to lounge on during the day. The fire pit was also a bonus! The owners were very easy to communicate with and the check-in process was super simple. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in South Haven!

Perfect Cottage!

We had a great stay, there was plenty of space downstairs for gathering. We loved the garage. It is fully stocked with everything you would need for the beach and has an additional full size fridge which is so helpful! There is also a wonderful front porch that is shaded all evening. The entire community of South Haven was so friendly and welcoming. Our only suggestion would be blackout curtains in the bedrooms. The owners were great to work with all week. The location is also great we could easily walk to the park, beach or town!

The lakehouse is owned by two young families – one in nearby Grand Rapids, one in the Chicago suburbs – who bought the place with hopes of making great memories with their families, while renting it out part-time to other South Haven visitors. Kristi is the main contact for the rental, and can provide lots of local recommendations if needed.

Why they chose this property

There's something great about parking your car when you arrive and never needing it again during the entire trip. You can walk anywhere you want to go from this house. Kids can run next door to the Kids' Corner playground, you can take a quick stroll around the corner to catch the sunsets, walk downtown for a morning latte, grab a happy hour beverage on the river, or jump on the Kal-Haven Trail for a bike ride.

Right when you walk in the front door, the house feels like a perfect "get-together" space.
