Truly get away from it all in with an authentic Costa Rica experience, while staying in this gorgeous and roomy vacation villa. Our villa is located in a rural Guanacaste beach town, near restaurants, basic grocery stores (Mini Supers), world-class beaches, legendary surf breaks, and vast jungles. You will find yourself feeling totally immersed in an extraordinary paradise. A safe location in a gated community, you are a three minute walk, with neighborhood beach access, to the popular Playa Negra beach.

We want your stay to be comfortable and unforgettable while exceeding your expectations. If you aren't down for a digital detox, we offer fast internet. We also have a large television with Roku and Fire Stick streaming access, swimming pool w/ water feature, washer dryer, and a large, open main kitchen. Lofty 18' ceilings in our expansive main living space gives you and your guests room to move around through the house with ease. There are up to six large bedrooms and five full baths available for your stay. To stay cool we have air conditioning in all rooms in addition to ceiling fans.

Don't be surprised if you see geckos, iguanas, birds, crabs, anteaters, and monkeys - all in the back yard!

Outside activities just a short walk or drive away include surfing, yoga, biking, zip lines, jungle tours, stand-up paddle boarding, just to name a few. This an outdoor lover's paradise!

Please note that while we love our furry friends, we can't accept pets due to some of our guest's pet allergies. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Great location and hospitality! Clean and functional. Thank goodness for pool and air conditioning to give relief from the heat. Caretaker wonderfully helpful. Pool area comfortable and much fun. Only complaint is that property description says there are six bedrooms and there were only four! A great stay

The Magnificent Waves

The house exceeded our expectations, spacious, and comfortable while preserving the experience with the area's fabulous natural (primitive) features: waking up to hauler monkeys and jungle birds, surrounded by tropical fauna and flora, and the sounds of the eternal crashing of the waves, the magnificent Pacific waves.

Close to beach, great house manager.

This very spacious house is super close to our favorite beach, Playa Negra, and we enjoyed many lovely beach days there. There are also some excellent restaurants within walking distance or a very short drive away. I’ve been staying in rental homes for decades and the house manager here, Steve, is by far the best and most responsive house manager I’ve had the pleasure to work with. He’s more like a concierge, ready to help provide any adventure, activity or service you could want while in Costa Rica. Thank you, Steve, for making our vacation a great experience!

Great family house at the beach

We stayed for three months with a few friends and family visiting here and there. We are coming back next year! A great house for a family. Lots of beds, bedrooms have private bathrooms. Neighborhood is cute and friendly. Pool is great in the hot afternoons. The backyard space is really great, the landscaping is beautiful. Brian is very easy to work with. He answered questions quickly anytime we had them. The beach is an easy, short walk and Playa Negra is absolutely gorgeous.

Perfect Spot and Host!

This home was absolutely perfect for my family, my in-laws, and a group of friends. The location couldn’t have been better—just a short walk to both Playa Negra and Sandy Beach. Playa Negra is ideal for surfing, while Sandy Beach is perfect for kids to play safely without worrying about rocks, and it's great for boogie boarding. We also loved exploring the nearby tide pools, which were teeming with fascinating sea creatures. There are numerous amazing restaurants within a 10-minute drive, all serving incredible food. The house itself was ideal for our group. The main living area was spacious enough for everyone to spread out—some playing card games at the table, others reading by the front door, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, or watching the Broncos game on the couch. The pool was fantastic and enjoyed equally by both kids and adults. We really appreciated having laundry facilities, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, from Tupperware to a tortilla press. The bedrooms were spacious and cooled quickly with the room AC units, making them very comfortable. I can’t recommend this home enough. Brian was the most gracious and attentive host we’ve ever encountered. He provided excellent recommendations, from setting us up with a surf instructor to arranging a fishing trip and answering any questions we had about the area. We’ll definitely be back!

Awesome Time in The Wave House

My family and I had an absolutely awesome time during our vacation in Costa Rica at The Wave House! The house is exactly as advertised, and we especially enjoyed the pool and close proximity to the beach. Brian and Jake (Property Manager) were very professional and helpful and promptly answered any question or concern that we had. Brian even provided an extensive list of the many phenomenal restaurants that are all within walking or driving distance of the house. We loved that we were not in a crowded tourist area, but there were enough fantastic restaurants and convenience stores nearby, that we didn't feel isolated either. The local community is very friendly and welcoming, as well. The only minor issues that we had is that we didn't have any beach equipment, such as chairs or umbrellas, but Brian does provide beach towels, which did the job. Just a warning that the unpaved roads take some getting used to, but that is no fault of the host. Also, the bed in the master bedroom was a little too firm and noisy, but again, that's a minor issue. Overall, we had one of our best family vacations in Costa Rica, and I highly recommend The Wave House if you want to truly experience the beauty and realness of Costa Rica, while staying in a spacious and inviting home. Playa Negra- Great for Families

Brian’s house was amazing top to bottom. He was a gracious host answering all of our questions and giving us suggestions when needed. The house was clean, spacious and gave our group everything we asked for. Absolutely would stay here again. Had a great time in the pool, at the beach and enjoying everything the community had to offer. We will be back for sure!! Pura Vida!

Great house for a long-term stay

We stayed at the Wave House for a month and found that it had everything we needed. Brian and the caretaker, Andrea, were very responsive to any issues we had. The house is exactly as described. We loved the pool, outdoor space, and huge kitchen for our large group. The location is pretty remote - which has pros (secluded, privacy, natural beauty) and cons (far from a big supermarket and other amenities). It is just a few minutes walk to Playa Negra, which is a beautiful beach and has great surfing but is not the best beach for swimming. The only real issue we had during our stay was the wifi. It's fine if you're just on vacation, but I would not recommend for anyone who is trying to work remotely from this house as we were. However, Brian was helpful with troubleshooting and we ended up using the wifi from the nearby hotel Playa Negra when we had issues.

Everything was as advertised for this home... and worked for our multigenerational family of 8; although no fault of the wave house, our week was a bit too hot And a bit too windy to be the perfect vacation. Mary (property manager) was helpful throughout the entire process.

November and December are considered the best months to visit - all the vegetation is still green from rainy season and it's early in the summer season, so it isn't as hot as it is right now, in the middle of summer. Great house

We had 13 of us in the house and everyone had a great time. The access to the beach was excellent. There were more beds than we needed. Any problems were quickly resolved. The pool was nice but we did not realize there were lights in the pool until the last night. Knowing there were 13 of us coming we needed more toilet paper in the bathrooms but I do not know if that is the owners responsibility or ours.

I was a little afraid this might be a resort-dominated area. It was not. Most folks on the beach were very friendly locals. There is a lot of undeveloped land in the vicinity with monkeys and birds. The property is well maintained. The kids loved the pool.

Great family retreat near beach

A five minute walk to beach in idyllic setting. Everything you need provided to relax with family. Each bed room had AC controlled en-suite. Pool was so nice to sit around and nap or swim after walking on beach. Perfect in many ways. Not luxury but very Pura Vida vibe. We hired a caterer for meals most days avoiding taking a large 10 person party out to restaurants more than 2 times. (Used La Vantana by J Petrizzi— yummy. organic vegan options meant we could feed everyone with healthy food). The concierge Mary set up our ground transport, car rental and day excursions for surfing (Snapper Surf School w Gustavo and Pura Aventure zipliining). She also stocked us with groceries for the week for a fee but was awesome avoiding to much time spent shopping. Daily walks to witness the beautiful Pacific sunset is a must. Hope to be back soon.

The Wave House was perfect for our family!

The Wave House rocked! The house itself was huge and had tons of room for sleeping, eating and relaxing by a gorgeous pool! The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of space when we stayed in to cook! The black sand beach is only a 3 minute walk from the house and was perfect for surfing, relaxing and watching the most incredible sunsets! There were plenty of restaurants and other amenities nearby and the locals are some of the nicest people I've ever been around! We will make a trip back to the Wave House for sure!

Great for multiple families in paradise!

House was beautiful and clean....perfect for our family and provided all the amentities needed. Can accommodate 2-3 families comfortably. The pool in the back is perfect for relaxing and for the kids to have some fun. Only a 3 minute walk to the beautiful black sand beaches. Plenty of local restaurants to check out, Lola’s is a must! House is only a 30 min drive to Tamarindo, a fun little beach town. We will be visiting again soon and staying here!!

Amazing House! Great Location!

The Wave House is fantastic! Large house with lots of room for a group or family. Short walk to beach.. Pool and outside area are great for relaxing after a day of surfing, SUP, Sunset or whatever other great activities there is do on Playa Negra. (Nap in the hammock is a must). A group of 11 of us stayed at the house and had a GREAT time. The owner and another property rep who met us at the house gave us awesome suggestions for restaurants and beaches in the area. It's a 3 minute walk to the world-famous surfing beach and 5 minute drive to a ton of great, unique, and friendly restaurants. We saw packs of monkeys and other wildlife. The fish, pizza, and chicken dishes down there were especially good we thought. Fantastic areas for surfing lessons for us beginners. We all agreed we'd go back in a second.

Great option for large groups

Our group stayed in Rancho Playa Negra for a surf trip. The property is located in the perfect location to surf several spots north and south. Mary (the property manager) was amazing sourcing all of our needs from groceries to dirt bikes to suggestions to eat. I would highly the recommend the house and area for those looking for multiple surf options, great local food and amazing service.

The Wave House is amazing!

We took a guys trip to Playa Negra to relax, fish, surf, and explore. We stayed at the Wave House and couldn't have asked for anything better. Big, spacious home with all the amenities our group needed. We relaxed in the pool every evening to the sounds of nature. Monkeys in the trees above, wild horses visiting nearby, and the sounds of the ocean through the trees were enjoyed by all. What a peaceful and serene setting! We enjoyed our daily walks to one of the best beaches in the world (less than 5 mins) with world class surfing, calm swimming lagoons, and absolutely stunning sunsets. This beach is perfect for all vacationers without the large crowds found in other locations. Very private feel and great for long walks. We also visited as many of the restaurants in the area we could in the week we were there. Short walks to amazing restaurants and none of them disappointed. Seafood, pizza, brunch by the ocean, and other options were all available within a 5-10 minute stroll from the Wave House. I would recommend this home for adventurers of all ages and plan to bring my family next year and every year after! Pura Vida!!

Family is Everything

If you want a relaxing, beautiful, sunset magical vacation, this is the place to be. Spacious and tastefully decorated - this villa fulfills all travelers from families, friends to a girls relaxing get away. We had time at the private pool to a stroll down to the magnificent beach that was truly the highlight of our trip. Great restaurants were a fun drive close by and we spent shopping time in Tamarindo....a must visit!! The locals are so welcoming and friendly....cant wait to go back!
