2/10 Terrible

Run down home with musty smell; unit not ready upon agreed arrival time.
I live an hour away from this rental. When asked if I could see it prior to booking the answer was no, because the owner does not live near it. This should have been a sign. The house sits on a residential street of homes in similar shabby shape. Inside, there are curtains where doors once stood. The bathroom plumbing is rusted. There was mismatched kid themed bedding for 5 adults & a hodgepodge of old furniture. It appears the upstairs sleeping area is a renovated attic space. There is no television. One selling point was the hot tub, which we were afraid to use because the water was green. We even went over to Gimmee for coffee in the morning because the scale and stain on the coffee maker was just gross. While the place had been wiped down, the cleaning person must have left mid job. We found the place open, key on the table (not under the flower pot, per instructions) & the basement door open and lights on. We arrived well after our agreed upon time. Later we came to realize that there were 2 towels for 5 people in the bathroom. Needless to say, we spent very little time there... enough to sleep. The nearby area is lovely & it is close to the lake, water fall, & a fun restaurant called "Atlas"... all of which we enjoyed. The owner, Deborah, was prompt and pleasant in our correspondence, however days prior to arrival I received a lengthy email of instructions. I thought it "above and beyond" when asked to strip the beds and place everything in the kitchen. I realize we weren't staying at in a hotel, but this place really is over priced for it's condition. If I were to overnight at Cayuga again, I'd call the wineries and ask for recommendations.
