We really enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful and well cared for. The only tough thing was the lack of cleaning supply. We stayed in and cooked at home for 3 dinners. There was no sponge left to clean dishes which meant we found ourselves utilizing paper towels to clean dishes, eventually running out of those. Additionally, there was no surface cleaner to clean counter tops after use. That is the only thing that may help enhance someone else’s stay!

The 'lighthouse' worked well for our family of 10. Kids adopted the cool ladder bedroom and small office space as their playrooms! Adults enjoyed the roominess and deck. House was close enough to Acadia National Park as well as Southwest island trails, tidal pools etc. Enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much!
The house was perfect for me and my family! The location, views, the layout of the house (we LOVE the deck) and the fact that we could bring our dogs made this a great vacation spot for us.

Thank you so much. We were so glad to have you and your dogs. Our goal is to make everyone’s visit to Mount Desert Island as comfortable and memorable as possible.
We really enjoyed this spacious and clean home. Plenty of room for 6 adults. Beautiful sunrise/sunset views from the very large deck. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck. Not too far to Acadia Nat’l Park and Bar Harbor. Highly recommend this home for a relaxing Maine vacation.
House is so welcoming and interesting and while off the beaten path - we had the best meal locally! Everyday offered a level of hiking we were up for and on clear nights we were enchanted by many shooting stars observed from the deck.
The house is well equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, towels, linens) and architecturally, a lot of fun!

I’m so glad you all had a great visit. MDI has some of the most amazing views of nature. I hope you all come back again. We really enjoyed being your hosts.
This was our second visit to Maine and I’m so glad I booked the Lighthouse. The house added to the theme of our trip perfectly. We wanted to experience Maine, lots of lobster, blueberries, hiking, seeing a whale etc… with all of those amazing things it was always a treat to return to the Lighthouse to relax and regroup for the next adventure. The beds were comfortable, usually I have an issue with restless leg syndrome but not while sleeping there!! House was well stocked and my grandson loved the boats and the big TV! It’s a place you don’t want to leave. Quiet with a view of the ocean through the trees. Lots of beautiful flowers surrounding the property. The owner was so nice and reached out before our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

From the owner:"We are so glad you all had a great visit and enjoyed our home. We would welcome you and your family back again on future visits. Thank you for choosing the Lighthouse, and for being such wonderful guests."
The house had everything we needed for our stay. The 3rd bedroom (ladder steps) is in a slightly inconvenient location being so far away from the bathrooms along with no air vents or ceiling fan. The deck was great but there are a few screws sticking up which could be dangerous on bare feet. The fans were dirty. Overall, it was a comfortable quiet location with all the amenities. We had a great time.

Thank you for your review and we appreciate your feedback. We do hope to see you all next year.
My wife and I stayed here with our three kids (aged 11-15) and it was just perfect! The house is unique, beautiful, wonderfully decorated, and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. The wifi worked great,, and the air conditioning came in handy on the couple of days during our trip that were unseasonably warm. The house is on the quiet side of the island, but is still close enough to everything that it didn't feel like it took long to get anywhere we wanted to go. It was a real joy to return to the Lighthouse every night, and everyone was sad when it was time to say goodbye. The communication from the owners was also great. I can't recommend this place enough!

Thank you so much. It was a true pleasure to be your host during your visit. Guests like you and your family are exactly the reason we love being able to offer our home on this way. I’m really glad you all had a great visit.
We had a very enjoyable stay. House is bright and we loved the open plan of the kitchen, dining area and living room. The deck is excellent but it was very hot in the sun (and we had three weeks of sunny days). Kitchen is well equipped and all appliances were in good order. We only used two bedrooms, the third one (in the lighthouse) had a great view but would have been hot and airless for sleeping however, the secondary living room with the futon could be used. There is also an office with desk.
Tim is an excellent host. All communications were answered within minutes.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit. We put our guests comfort as our first priority. Thank you for choosing our home as your home base, and hope you’ll come back again.
The home was large, airy, and immaculate. Our family of 4 (two adults, two teens) were very comfortable in separate rooms. The bathrooms were clean and well taken care of. The common rooms were very comfortable for sitting together. The loft room was a little warm the first day (unusually warm temps) but we brought up a fan and my teen said he was fine. Be aware you are on a main road. It was quiet overnight, but there are cars early in the morning. We loved staying on this part of the island. Very close to everything we wanted to do in Acadia, but away from the busier bustle of Bar Harbor. Overall it was a very well appointed and thoughtfully taken care of home. We wanted to stay longer.

From the owner: "Thank you for choosing our home for your vacation. We are grateful to have guests like you folks. Please come back again soon."
We enjoyed our stay at this house and on the Island very much. Tim told us how to get into the house, and it was easy. He responded immediately to an issue we called him about,, and was respectful of not coming into the house while we were there, due to Covid-19, when he came to remedy it. The house was 30 or so minutes from Bar Harbor, and a lovely drive through the park to get there. We found the grocery store in Southwest Harbor easily, and it had absolutely everything we needed/wanted. It does have a Keurig coffeemaker, which we had to go buy pods for, so be aware to bring pods, not loose coffee. It was a perfectly comfortable house for two couples and two dogs. Thanks, Tim!

Unique home
This is a very unique and quirky house. So many interesting things to look at. The kids loved the ladder room. There were plenty of tvs and the WiFi was good. There was an issue with the gas stove to heat the living room/office area, and no solution was offered, but it ended up warming up the next few days. There is only 1 room with a door so all other sleeping areas are open and you can hear everything. There are also no curtains so the sun wakes you up. There was a ton of road noise as well. We thought the view was beautiful with the trees and glimpses of the bay. Especially from the upper rooms. The upstairs shower needs some work as the temperature was complicated and it dripped. Our kids enjoyed this house and it’s a good spot for a family.
The Lighthouse was a great getaway for a longer stay - we stayed for 7 weeks and had 3-5 people there at any given time and it truly became our home. The house is super charming with great views on the quiet side of the island, there's so much to do even as the summer season wound down. Bar Harbor and some Acadia attractions are 30m away, but there are small conveniences/restaurants etc. closer in Southwest Harbor and hikes like Long Pond and Acadia Mountain under 15m away.
The full kitchen + grill was great for how much cooking we did, and it was easy to settle in. Tim was a fantastic and responsive host - he was always there to answer q's or help us solve anything (e.g. getting superfast refills when we ran through the gas tank, dropping off extra blankets to ensure we were cozy, stocking the house with a printer and wifi extenders knowing that we were working from home). One of the best hosts we've had!
One thing to note is that the house is a very open communal area - the master suite upstairs is open to the living room and the bedroom in the lighthouse wing itself is up a ladder-like stairway; you can close off doors to that side of the house if you need extra privacy, but just something to consider if staying with a larger group or if you have multiple people who need privacy for work / etc. during the day.
Definitely recommend this property and hope we can come back soon! A lovely place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Mt. Desert Island, and to curl up and relax inside when the weather gets chilly :) Thanks Tim!

Jason, it was a pleasure to host you all. Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We’d love to have you all back again. The biggest goal we had when buying this house was having the ability to share where we grew up with people and give them a true sense of the island, the amazing community, and the beauty of the park. I’m really glad you all were able to enjoy your time here, and look forward to your next visit.
The lighthouse is a very special home, on a beautiful piece of land overlooking the water through gorgeous trees and stunning sunsets and dreamy star gazing. The home is uniquely decorated with love for the ocean at every turn. There is so much natural light, the beds are big and comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need for home cooked meals, the deck has a great grill and seating, the host is very kind and easy to communicate with, the TVs are new and nice and there is very clear wifi everywhere.
We all loved our stay VERY much. Especially our dog who had the best week of his 10 month old puppy life! With Wonderland, Ship's Harbor, Bass Head Lighthouse, and The Seawall only minutes away, we were in mother nature's haven all week.
Bar Harbor and the park loop didn't feel too long away either (25 min and 40 to the top of Cadillac)
And many stops in between.
We did expect the street to be much quieter and safer. We brought bikes for the kids to ride, but cars zoom by very quickly and though we did walk to the water, it would not have been safe to just let the kids roam/run around the neighborhood on their own (10 and 11).
However, we wouldn't let that stop us from renting this amazing house again and would absolutely love to come back in the future!
I had tears when it was time to leave. Thank you Tim!

Yana, thank you so much for this wonderful review. You folks were so great to have. I really enjoyed interacting with you and am so glad you had a great visit. Please, if you have the opportunity to return, we would love to be your hosts again.
It was a wonderful stay on not-so-touristy side of Acadia. The owner is very prompt in communications. The house has grill, washer-dryer, an excellent deck, and a fully equipped kitchen that will let you cook all meals at home; you only need groceries, cooking oil, and condiments and there are decent grocery stores around. A small tip-stop by Hannaford at Ellsworth, before you come to the island, to pick up the groceries and tupperware (if needed), as they stock lot more variety. There are excellent hikes and biking roads all within 15-30 min of distance. Walking poles are very useful to navigate hikes. The surrounding road is not walkable, so having a car helps. The house itself has 2 good sized bedrooms and a third one for little older kids who do not mind climbing up to the room. The entryway to the house also has stairs, so if you have large suitcases to be carried up to the house, you will need to plan for that. There is lot of character to the house and you can see the effort the owner has added for ensuring the nautical theme of Maine to be prominent all over. The house has excellent insulation which, as the temperatures dip in October, is truly a blessing in disguise. Filling a bath tub with hot water is an issue, regardless of whether anyone has used shower of not just prior. But if you do not care about mundanities like a bath, it is easy to not worry about it at all. The house is not for folks with mobility issues. Overall, the house is very safe, very charming, and family friendly that can give you good memories in years to come.

Thank you so much for choosing our home for your vacation. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and would gladly welcome you all back again on future visits.
The main issue was that the water would not stay hot or even warm, 95% of our showers were freezing cold. After discovering this I looked back at the reviews and this issue has been mentioned before and nothing has been done to fix this problem, it is not acceptable. This extremely frustrating and could potentially burn someone.
The master bed is extremely worn out and does not offer any support.
The entire house smells like mildew and should have dehumidifiers installed in the basement specifically.
The main floor bathroom smells faintly of skunk.
The thermostat in the kitchen would not change and must be stuck on 74° so it would get too hot in the house and there were zero instructions on using the mini split. We had rain during our visit so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving windows open.
They do not allow the cooking of shellfish in the house which is absurd. The house is on the coast of Maine, people will want to cook their catch or what they bought locally. Honestly if it is about the smell I would have welcomed the smell of seafood over the smell of mildew and mold.
Cobwebs and dog hair were also noticed and bugs in bathroom vent/light.
In the listing It says that this is an oceanfront property with a view and it is neither. Not only is there no access to the ocean there is no view. This is false advertising.
The property manager wants phone calls during business hours however there is no cellular service on much of the island.

Hi Emily, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following details:- We wish you had reached out to us during your stay. We would've been available to resolve your concerns and make your stay more comfortable. It's unfortunate you didn’t share any of your concerns until after you checked-out.- Both Evolve and our local contact, Darlene, are available 24/7 for any concerns. While cell coverage can be spotty, the home has WIFI, which can be used for contacting us during your stay so we can address any issues in real time.- Our crew does a walk-through of the home before all guest arrivals and we’re confident that the home met our high cleanliness standards before your check-in. Considering we just installed a new style of light fixtures recently, it’s simply not possible for bugs to collect within these types of light fixtures.- We have also installed a brand-new 50-gallon hot water tank to ensure future guests have a consistent supply of hot water during their stay.- Considering we want all of our guests to rest easy, the mattress in the primary bedroom has been replaced to provide better support and comfort.- We had the floors steam-cleaned just prior to your arrival, which may have contributed to a temporary smell, especially with the recent humidity. We’ll take extra steps to manage moisture going forward.- A dehumidifier has been added to the basement to mitigate any future concerns. Considering we’re in Maine, the AC from the heat pump is sufficient for our location. The 74 degrees displayed on the thermostat was the ambient temperature in the home during your stay.- The "no shellfish" policy is in place due to my severe lobster allergy, which can trigger a serious anaphylactic reaction. However, we encourage guests to explore the many local restaurants offering fresh seafood.- While the home is located near the coast, we’ve adjusted the listing to ensure future guests have a clear understanding of the ocean access and view.- We’re happy to share that our most recent guests reported no issues. We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have a wonderful stay!
