About this property
Stunning Woodstock NY Chalet with panoramic Catskill Mountains Views
Mt. Guardian Guest House is a serene designer space in the Woodstock region of the New York Hudson Valley. We host as we would like to be hosted, bringing a touch of our unique style and design while maintaining a warm and homey feel.
Through all seasons Mt. Guardian Guest House is a haven for weary city-dwellers, allowing quiet, relaxation, and stunning natural beauty.
We are 4 miles from Woodstock, 2.5 miles from the Bearsville theatre, 2 miles from the KTD center and the Overlook Trail.
Our little cabin is made and furnished with great care and attention to detail. The space is comfortable and homey, bright and flooded with fresh mountain air. Many of the pieces are hand made and those that are not were chosen for both their aesthetic and functionality. We offer high speed internet access, full service internet TV, Netflix, and a full kitchen with every utensil and pot/pan you need (we've been to a bunch of places and we hardly ever saw a decent sized spaghetti pot!) and hand crafted bathroom with shower. The views from every window are exquisite - from the front we have miles and miles of national park that change in appearance every day. Whether its covered in fog, changing leaves, bright sunshine or fresh snow Mount Guardian delivers a constantly changing and stunning landscape.
Enjoy your morning cup from one of the hammock chairs, the couch, or with a newspaper at the kitchen table... At night , forego the tech and curl up in front of the fire with one of our books, or set up a board game with a glass of wine. The place is cozy warm in the coldest months, and although we have air conditioning, its rare that you ll need it.
When you re ready - jump into our queen sized memory foam bed before deciding to get one for yourself (yes - its that good and we re happy to share the details). and gaze up through the skylight at the stars. If you re used to sleeping with constant light and noise you ll be amazed at how well rested you feel after just a couple nights on the mountain.
Skiers- we can t guarantee the snow, but the cabin is 20 miles from Hunter, 31 miles to Windham, and 36 miles to Belleayre. Inquire about our mid-week skier specials (Sunday night through Friday morning).
We love hosting well behaved dogs. Please make sure that you add your pet to your booking. There is a $50 non-refundable fee for dogs Please bring your dog's mat and a cover for the sofa if your dog will be there. PLEASE pick up after your dog. Dogs are NOT allowed on the bed, sorry. Excessive barking presents problems- so please manage.
The wood stove is not in service from May 1 through September 30.
Special Events in the area:
June: Taste of Country and Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain (Both are great by the way!)
June through October: Usually something just about every weekend. Check out what is going on at Levon Helm Studios, Bearsville Theatre, the Colony, Maverick Concerts. Many other music and theater venues a little farther off.
Mid October: The view of the changing leaves is spectacular
Mid October: Woodstock Film Festival. Book early. This brings big crowds to our little town.
Late October: Woodstock Luthier Festival
November: Halloween in Woodstock is an event not to be missed. Half for the kids, half for all the folks around here who haven t abandoned their 8 year old. A LOT of fun.
Christmas: when Santa comes to Woodstock, most of the town turns out for the welcome party. Like no other.

Hosts were great (friendly & helpful, yet gave us our space); although smallish overall, the cottage/cabin was plenty spacious for two, & comfortably furnished, with a well equipped little dine-in kitchen; very well sunlit during the day, with an excellent mountain valley view and plenty of woodlands & wildlife all around;
Had a fantastic stay! The place was clean, quiet and very cozy, exactly what we were looking for. The mountain view was the best part of the day, with a cup of morning coffee in hand.Special thanks to our host for the fresh gift bag of coffee beans!
My husband and I had a relaxing stay. The home was cozy with a beautiful view. Harvey was so nice to stop by and see if we needed anything our first night. We hope to visit again!
The hosts were very polite and kind. This cabin has one of the most amazing views we’ve seen in a long time. Waking up with a cup of coffee and stepping outside to the mountain view was exactly what we were looking for. I would gladly book this spot again in the future.
Cozy Chalet with mountain view, minutes to shops, eateries and beautiful places to walk/hike. The host/owner was very helpful and stopped by to check in with us. We appreciated the vrbo message from the owner about places to shop and eat nearby. I also found everything I needed in the kitchen including extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tea and cream! We hope to be back soon.
A perfectly cozy and inviting space in a great location - close to both the charming town of Woodstock and enjoyable hikes. Hosts made themselves available should you need them, but also provided privacy & peaceful solitude.
WE loved the cabin - great location, comfortable space, nice area, quiet, comfortable. The owners were very kind and helpful. Perfect getaway from the city!
Very clean and well cared for. The cabin was the perfect cozy getaway we were hoping for. Quiet setting and less than 10 minutes from Tinker Street. You can tell when a host truly cares and clearly Harvey and Linda care by their communication and how they pay attention to the details.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The view is gorgeous and the chalet is very cozy. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and meeting his dog too. Highly recommend!
Great place, just what we needed for a weekend away. Less than 10 min drive from Woodstock , make sure you enjoy some morning coffee. Can't say enough about the chalet, we hope to be back soona uh ne in the summer.
We had everything we needed in the chalet. It was clean, warm, and inviting. The hosts were so gracious and fun. I was able to sled ride down their hill and we also were able to cross country ski and hike the Overlook Mountain trail. Downtown was right around the corner and met all our needs.
I had a great stay! Harvey was very kind and welcoming, and the space had everything I needed. I especially loved relaxing on the porch swing and taking in the beautiful view. Would definitely recommend!
