Nice studio apartment centrally located in Akureyri close to town´s center, the Akureyri church, swimming pool, restaurants etc.

Spacious bathroom, kitchenette and south facing balconies. Stunning ocean and mountain view, as can been seen from the pictures which are all taken from the apartment.

Short but enjoyable break

The flat is comfortable and well-equipped. It's very well situated with a lovely view of the fjord. Parking is easy and it's also a very short distance from the main part of the town.

Great location if you go to Akureyri

The property was super clean and easy for the check-in. The location and the view were great and matches totally the add online. We enjoyed our time there. Plenty of places to walk and enjoy the view. We were lucky to celebrate national day with theocals!

Iceland travel around the country

The host was great and super responsive. The apartment is in a perfect location in the heart of the town. We strictly walked to get around and it was perfect. Highly recommend it!

Access to everything Akureyri has to offer. Wonderful space with a bonus open terrace to relax and take in a spectacular view. Host was most responsive and on point. Definitely would recommend!

Brilliant location, back steps up to the church and pathway to old town, 300m from swimming pool and Botanic Garden. Views all round and from balcony just glorious. Comfortable furnishings, very user friendly washer dryer. Lack of storage for clothing a downside, no iron, no cafetiere, 2 broken lightbulbs, loose toilet seat, faulty window catch.

Good central location in town & for touring the area

Apartment as described, was accessed easily with free parking outside overnight 4pm- 10am & free parking during the day one block away. Owner responded quickly to any queries. Good restaurants nearby. Don’t forget to try Brynja for an ice cream fix 😋. Also the cafe in the Botanical Gardens for lunch.

A very clean apartment in a great location! The only issue was that with the long nights the apartment was still fairly bright even when we closed the shades. A second layer of window covering would be helpful but otherwise our stay was great. Thank you!

Great location and easy access via footpath at rear. Out of date medical kit and food in cupboard not reassuring and needs a good deep clean. Powerful, hot shower. Instructions could have been clearer (access to rubbish is from pavement, keys are in area behind door on left) and mentioned large light on balcony cannot be switched off

Free parking is not available weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM, although you can park a bit further down the street, away from paid parking zone. Great location, though the supermarkets are all out of the centre. Prob best for 1 rather than 2 as bed has to be against the wall, but fine for me as a solo traveller. Very quiet, which was ideal for me working. Good to have cafetiere stock of coffee!

Tolle Lage der Ferienwohnung

Wir haben eine wunderbare Zeit in Akureyri gehabt. Die Lage der Wohnung ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, die Gegend zu erkunden - Godafoss, Myvatn, Hverir, Husavik, Whale Watching, u.v.m. Die Wohnung ist super für 2 Personen, es gab alles, was man benötigt. Gnudi ist eine tolle Gastgeberin. Der kostenlose öffentliche Parkplatz ist nicht weit entfernt von der Wohnung (am Ende der Straße).

perfekte Lage um Islands Norden zu erkunden

Das Apartment hat uns gut gefallen. Es war alles vorhanden. Die Lage ist perfekt zentral und trotzdem ruhig. Das warme Wasser muss man erst einmal voll aufdrehen, sonst wird es nicht warm und das Geschirr nicht sauber. Das Bett könnte mal ausgetauscht werden. Ansonsten empfehlenswert.

Read This Before Booking

We had an issue when we arrived which I will not go into it, but it prevented us from staying the first evening we had booked. Gudni took a few hours to get a hold of, which was frustrating, however, I do want to give him credit for addressing our issue promptly after we were in contact with him. I feel he treated us fairly and and did what he could to make the situation the best it could be. I am grateful to him for handling things professionally on his end, however, this being said, I wish we had stayed somewhere else and would not stay here again. The issue mentioned ate up a ton of our time and caused a lot of stress. I was on the phone with VRBO, with Gudni, shuffling luggage around, etc. etc. It was just a giant time suck on a vacation with limited time to begin with and time is not something I can get back, so it's never worth it to me to be in this position. Next, I want to clarify this "smell" everyone is talking about. There are two things at play here: 1) The hot water all over Iceland smells of sulfur. This will be the same at all properties unless they have a tankless hot water heater. I have no problem with the smell of sulfur, HOWEVER . . . 2) The smell in Gudni's place is not just from sulfur but also from septic waste. I do not to be rude, but it very disgusting to my husband and I. We did not want to be in the apartment at all because of it. I even bought a candle to try and mask it but it wasn't very effective. In the bathroom near the toilet there is a metal grate on the floor, when you flush the toilet you can see the water moving right under the grate. Long story short it's basically like an open septic system and it smells as you would imagine. This is not a smell that we just "got used to" as others have mentioned. The building also has areas which smell of smoke when you are walking through, however, this smell is not present in the actual apartment. The apartment is well laid out but the bed is older and was uncomfortable for us. You sink into it and roll into the middle if you have two people sharing it. Some light bulbs were burned out so it was a bit dark in the evening. A window handle was broken. The balcony is great, the location is great, however, we couldn't get over the other issues mentioned and do not recommend staying here. We are not high maintenance or luxury travelers and our other stays in Iceland were in hostels or shared spaces. I hope this gives some context for my review.

Loved Gudni’s studio apartment!

We were thrilled to be at Gudni’s place! It was so centrally located and we were able to walk everywhere in Akuryeri! The views were great, he had all amenities needed, and Gudni was prompt and easy to communicate with. When the sofa bed is pulled out, it’s a tight area - but well worth having to squeeze in at night for the awesome location!

Great location and value

This place was great for its amazing views out three directions, PERFECT location, good value, and washer/dryer which was critical to have halfway through our trip. The shower was stopped up and leaking and a bathmat would have been helpful (the towels were big and the linens clean and comfortable). Be sure to park further away from town; you’ll get a ticket if you park in front of the building. There is a bad smell as somebody else mentioned but you get used to it right away. The place was quiet and clean. Space was tight for three people when sleeping so two might be best. Gudni answered his phone and was generally helpful; I didn’t receive check-in instructions until I asked twice. Calling him vs. sending a message is better. I would recommend this place and we enjoyed our stay in Akureyri!
