How about spending a vacation in a country house that is very close to the city and all tourist activities?

While in the center people live a normal and fast city life, in the high zones, near the mountains, the calm and country atmosphere is a reality. In this small villa composed by three nice properties, you can enjoy all the calm and serenity with a wide view of the Atlantic Ocean and Funchal.
This small ‘farmhouse’ has three stone-walled houses, with different typologies and surrounded by small gardens. The houses have the name of trees that exist on our island.
This house has a bedroom with two single beds, a bathroom with shower.
The house has a kitchenette and is fully equipped.
Maximum capacity of two people.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
In the Choupana area you will find a restaurant which is a 2-minute drive from the property. The nearest bakery is a 5-minute drive away and the supermarket is a 10-minute drive away, close to the city center.
The city center is a 15-minute by car.
The area is calm and quiet. From here you can travel to any part of the island through the municipal roads that have a connection to the highway.
Renting a car is the best option to discover the island at your own pace.

GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property is by transfer. Ask us to arrange one with our local partners. It's cheaper than the cabs you'll find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation app will easily find the address.

Guests have access to all areas of the flat.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (E.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. In case the check-in is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours prior arrival, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide a crib, a baby high chair and a baby bathtub if needed. First aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket are available in all properties.

ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

Your own botanical garden

We had a beautiful stay afar from the city noise and felt all around very comfortable in and around the house. It felt like living inside a botanical garden. A little tip: Don’t just trust google maps - it leads you up very steep roads Instead use ER201 (Caminho dos Pretos) - takes about 3 minutes more, but you‘ll reach your destination much more relaxed :) Would definitely come here again!

Great place with rental car

Great place, fully equipped, amazing view, very quiet (I don’t know where the comments regarding dogs come from). Only point to keep in mind: take a rental car and don’t follow Google Maps. Use the twisting road instead of the straight one. If using the straight road, first gear all the way is your best friend! Bolts are easy to go to the house but can be difficult to go back down to the city.

Not worth the money!!

It smells really humid and old inside the whole house. Furnitures are really old and smelly, the kitchen equipment is not clean. The whole house needs a fresh up, new kitchen equipment, furniture and curtains would already make a difference. It seems this should only be for making money, no investments have been done since years. Other guests already complained about poor kitchen equipment but nothing was changed. I would definitely not recommend staying here!!

Doesn’t have an oven or grill as listed. BBQ which is listed is broken. Makes it difficult when you stock up on the way expecting these things. A few small things like no ironing board (there js one listed) so had to ask for one to be delivered. Small things like no bin bags provided (even though you can’t flush toilet roll so need them). No information provided regarding how difficult it is to get a taxi back in the evening - twice a taxi from town couldn’t make it all the way back due to steep roads so we had to get out early and walk up steep hills in the dark. Could be much better information about this

Vraiment agréable pour le calme et la vue Pour la monter au logement préférez les routes en lacets elles seront beaucoup plus agréables pour accéder au logement : Caminho dos Pretos et Estrada da boa nova et la monte sera tranquille. Nous avons vraiment apprécier le cadre nous reviendrons sans problème La simplicité au calme pour ceux qui aime la nature et le calme 🥰

Das abgeschieden gelegene Häuschen "Cedro" hat alles, was man braucht. Schöne, von Büschen und Bäumen umstandene Terrasse mit Blick aufs Meer. Anbindung per Bus nach Funchal ist gut, 7 Minuten zu Fuß über eine Treppe zur Haltestelle. Bus fährt alle 30 bis 120 Minuten. Zugang zu zwei Levadas (Richtung Monte bzw. Camacha/Palheiro Gardens) fußläufig in der Nähe. 20-Minuten-Spaziergang zum Restaurant Alta Vista (bergauf/bergab). Insgesamt ein sehr erholsamer, ruhiger, autofreier Urlaub.

Jammer maar helaas

De plek is fantastisch, echter geen mogelijkheden tot een winkelbezoek tenzij je met een taxi een boodschap wilt doen. De locatie is heel hoog in de bergen, niet dichtbij de bewoonde wereld en moeilijk begaanbaar. Kookgelegenheid was 1 kookpit, de andere had geen bedieningsknop. Er werd beschreven dat er een afwasmachine aanwezig is, maar toen wij het huisje zagen leek dat al niet reëel. Dat klopt ook, er was geen. Nou vinden we dat niet zo`n punt, maar vermeld het dan ook niet. Met 1 kookpit en geen gelegenheid om uit eten te gaan was het erg behelpen. Op de bedden lag je op de veren, dus deze zijn aan vervanging toe. Een fles water als welkom is wel het minste wat aanwezig mag zijn op deze afgelegen plek en je arriveert zo vanuit de vlieghaven. We vroegen om een andere lokatie, daar werd heel welwillend in gedaan, alleraardigste dame die ons daarbij heel voorkomend hielp, echter toen we bijna vertrokken naar een ander appartement zou hij ineens volgeboekt zijn. Kortom nee we komen hier niet weer terug en kunnen helaas ook niet deze quinta adviseren aan anderen. (NB:we hebben zelf een andere lokatie naar tevredenheid gevonden)

Nous avons adoré séjourner dans la petite maison Cedro, car nous étions au calme et indépendant ! L'accès avec la voiture était très impressionnant mais ca valait le coup pour le calme, la vue et la terrasse :)

Not satisfying experience

I expected much more from a house anounced as "Quinta Devónia - Cedro, country house with sea view" - There is no sea view or Funchal view from the house, you had to move to another area of the property to see Funchal or the Sea. For me the pictures shown of the house with the Funchal and sea view are misleading. You can't expect me to spend the morning under the sun in another area of the property to have breakfast, lunch, dinner or check my mail with my laptop, just to have a nice view - Vegetation is so out of control in the property that is difficult to move with the car or even walking, in the porch you don't have any view except the vegetation that sorrounds the house - No indications the get to the house the first day, except google that sends you to a street 45º of inclination, with a part that can't be followed up hill, no previous help to recommend a better way by the property. - The kitchen elements are at the minimum minimum, 3 coffee spoons, 3 coffee cups, few dishes, we had to spent most time washing dishes just to breakfast and lunch. - The chairs in the living room are loosen and disassemble after a couple of hours. - Cleaning is not correct, spider webs in the ceiling, in bedside table, etc. - Cleaning service, came once during our stay without announcing, they spent less than 10 minutes in the house and did not clean anything. - First day, just one additional roll of toylet paper, is not supposed to be responsability of the property to provide it for all the days? - No indicationsto get to the house the first day: key locker is not marked with the name of the house, no indications inside the property to get to the house, so we had to visit every house until we found Cedro. - House for two but only on lounge chair to take the sun under the house mini-garden - Too many small objects, pillows, and decoration in the tables of the house for a so limited space, we had to remove everything to have some free space.
