We have worked to make this home ready for your arrival with tasteful, clean decor and ample opportunities to do all of your favorite beach activities. Make memories while you enjoy the sun, swimming, surfing, search for shells, or just relax with your family and friends. SummerSalt offers views of the ocean with a quiet, convenient beach access just a few yards away.

Start your day with your morning coffee on the large front deck as the sun rises over the ocean. Then walk to the beach for a day of collecting shells, jumping the waves and building your very own sand creation. Then return to SummerSalt for more outdoor pleasures by lounging in your private pool with a large tanning ledge. And don't miss your chance to shower outside in a private shower with the smell of salty air. There's an outdoor gas grill in the backyard for your cooking pleasure or you could pick up some yummy seafood from a local restaurant!

SummerSalt has a fully-equipped kitchen, digital cable television, 4 flat screen televisions, high-speed wireless internet access, and many other amenities! SummerSalt is a family-friendly house with puzzles, cards, games and books available for all ages. We work to make sure you arrive with nothing to worry about. Linens are provided, beds are made, and we have some basic essentials in the cabinets so all you have to shop for is food and beverages. We take great pride in preparing the house for each guest so your arrival is abundantly pleasant and you can leave all your worries behind.

For anyone not familiar with Topsail Island and Surf City, we'll be happy to answer any questions and help you find interesting things to do. It's a quaint little beach town with something for everyone. There are golf courses nearby, jet ski and boat rentals, opportunities to learn about marine life, fishing, equipment rentals (surfboards, bikes, kayaks), shopping, craft markets, worship services, exercise classes, and more.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Fold quilts and stack them on the bed with pillows in shams. Do not remove shams from the pillows, only sheets.
If you have moved furniture around, please return to original place.
Rinse off beach toys, chairs and other sandy things. If needed, leave them to dry near one of the water hoses, front yard or back yard.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No glass near the pool.

This rental was perfect for my cousin reunion! Spacious, clean, organized, and had all the amenities we needed - and was so close to the beach! The owner was very communicative and responsive. I will say the kitchen was on the smaller side, but if you're not planning on cooking/eating at home much, it's a good size. 10/10, would highly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in Surf City, especially if you have a large group!

Great Family get away!!!

This was the second time we stayed here and again we are so happy we did! The house has everything you need including bunk beds witch my kids loved. The pool is amazing. The house is located very close to a beach access and close to the shops and restaurants but far enough away you don't have to deal with any noise from them. The owners are amazing and extremely nice and helpful with anything you need.

Everything for a great vacation

The house has everything a family can need and even what they don't realize they need. It really helps with the chaos inherent to traveling with small kids. We love it and can't wait to come back!

This was one of the best family vacations!! The house and the pool were absolutely wonderful and the short walk to the beach was also a plus! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again...hopefully next time with a couple grandchildren (we're still waiting for those little guys to make an appearance) The house is definitely set up with family and children. Perfect family getaway!

Our second summer visiting Summer Salt and it was perfect! The house is comfortable with everything you need, we didn’t have to pack a bit of beach gear! The proximity to the beach is great and an easy walk even with littles. The neighborhood is quiet and close to the restaurants and shops we visited. Our two favorite new spots were The Crab Pot for delicious food and Herring’s Outdoor Sports for shopping. We’ll be back!!

What a wonderful home and amazing host. The house was spotless and decorated beautifully but still completely comfortable and relaxed. So many small details taken care of that I don't find in other rentals...paper products, coffee filters and a million other little things that make the stay so easy. Steps to the beach and a beautiful pool. Trudy is super responsive and helpful and I can't say enough good things about this place. Can't wait to go back.

Stunning property

A huge THANK YOU to Trudy for sharing this amazing property with us. Such great accommodations and she truly provides EVERYTHING you need. So many beach toys, wagon, umbrellas, beach towels... the list goes on and on. My boys absolutely loved the bunk room and the pool. We would definitely stay at this property again if we visit Surf City in the future. Truly was also very helpful in making restaurants recommendations as well as helping us with a mechanic (we had AC trouble on our way to NC) and gave us contact to a fantastic photographer. 😊😊😊

Clean, beautiful and convenient!

We have rented a beach house every year for the past 7 years, and this one is at the top of our list. It's incredibly clean and well-maintained. The decor is pretty and cheerful. The house itself gets gorgeous natural light all day and the backyard is large and private. The pool is the largest we have ever had at a beach house and the tanning ledge was our favorite spot to relax while watching our kids swim. The convenience of this house cannot be understated. Not only is the beach access very close, but this is the most well-appointed house we have ever stayed in. The owners have thought to make everything available, from beach chairs and toys to band-aids and well-placed night lights throughout the entire property. The kitchen has absolutely everything, including a crock pot and pancake griddle. And the owners were wonderful--the even welcomed us with treats from a local bakery! We will definitely be returning next year!

Beautiful home and location humming with life!

We adored our stay! The fact that the pool was heated tbh saved our chillier than anticipated vacation and the host was super quick to help us when we were unsure how to start it! The house was absolutely stocked to the rim with everything you could want for a beach trip! Floats/chairs/wagon/sand buckets/boogie boards you name it! Books to borrow, games for the kids. I’ve never seen a home to equipped as a rental. I felt ridiculous that I packed anything for the kiddo. The only nitpicking I could fathom is the showers were camper-sized as other reviews had warned. The fridge constantly hummed (slightly annoying) and front porch was squeaky when settling in with a book! Nothing can ever be quite perfect but I absolutely loved my stay and when I woke my 4 year old up to leave she cried, not wanting to leave “summer”.

Even better than we expected!

Trudy's place is amazing. We read so many positive reviews that we were almost scared it wouldn't live up to our expectations... but we were wrong and we couldn't be happier about it! We have a pool at our house in VA so we didn't think we would use it very often because... BEACH! But, we did! It was so refreshing after being on the beach all day to shower off outside, relax in the pool, shower inside and make dinner. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Trudy's has thought of EVERYTHING! We've rarely stayed at a place that has as many provisions as Trudy and Mark have provided for their renters. You can tell that they really care about the people who rent from them, they WANT you to be there and they want you to relax and have a good time. They even provide beach towels and chairs! Communication is phenomenal and the check in process is one of the easiest EVER! Even in the middle of a pandemic, we felt very comfortable with the sanitary measures taken and they even left some supplies to further disinfect, should we need it for anything else. Honestly, we had to change our original plans at TI this year because of the pandemic and chose Trudy's place because of the reviews and her kindness. After having stayed there though, we might not go back to the house we normally stay at hopefully can book with Trudy and Mark instead!

This has to be the best house on the island!

I cannot say enough good things about this property! The house was beautifully decorated and very, very, very clean! It had everything we could have needed! The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed having a family sleepover in the room with the bunk beds. There were plenty of nice linens available. The TVs are all new and "smart" so our kids could watch Netflix. The property is so private. The outdoor shower has hot water and keeps all of the sandy mess outside. The private pool was the highlight of our kids' trip. We used it every day, multiple times per day. It's a salt water pool and there was no odor. The beach was super close. Our 4-year old walked it carrying her boogie board. It's close enough that we ran back and forth when we forgot water or snacks. The beach was never crowded. The owner is an awesome hostess! I talked to her about the property over the phone before we even made our reservation. While we were there, she checked in via text to see if we needed anything or needed advice on where to eat. She was very available - I sent her a text about something and she responded instantly. The island is adorable. There isn't a McDonald's or other chain in sight. We would most definitely come back and we would most definitely stay in this house again. I can't think of anything that could have made this house or our stay better than it was!

Best Vacation Home Ever!

I don’t even know where to begin! SummerSalt is hands down the best vacation home I’ve ever rented. Trudy has literally thought of every thing one would need when staying in a home and she provides it for you. Our family has a special needs child with complex medical needs. She provided everything we would need for our stay to keep him safe as well as all the cleaning supplies needed to keep him and his environment safe during our stay. Some things that come to mind that stood out to us were 1) access to sand toys, I mean baskets full, boogie boards (several), umbrellas, beach chairs (the good sturdy kind) and a beach cart to carry it all out 2) bikes for every member of the family 3) kitchen has just about every kitchen appliance you would need and plenty of dishes 4) pool was heated and they have pool floats for your use 5) the outdoor shower- has HOT water. Is roomy, private and excellent water pressure.6) Lots of outdoor seating areas.7) Linens were Included-plentiful- and smelled wonderful 8) all the things needed to keep the home tidy, dishes cleaned and laundry done were also provided. And with excellent quality cleaning supplies. 9) Trudy lives close by and is readily available for any needs you may have. 10) the walk to beach was super easy/close even for our special needs child. We loved every minute of our stay. This is not your average rental. It is above and beyond. It made packing easy for a big family because it literally was like arriving at your own second home that was fully stocked. Definitely the best vacation we’ve had in years! Thank you!

Family Freindly, Relax Oriented

We had a very pleasant stay at the Summer Salt - The property was very well supplied with essentials for any activity from cooking to boogie boarding. The pool was a tremedous asset to help with coping with the heat. It provided a safe water experience for our 1 and 4 year old grandchildren.We had a wonderful week of relaxation and fun.

2024 Summer Salt

July 2024 Visit

This is our second time staying here and we will continue to always stay here when visiting Topsail Island. The house is very close to the beach and walking distance to town. All six of us loved the backyard and pool. The house and outdoor beach closet is very well stocked. Trudy is very responsive and wonderful to rent from.

We are always looking for ways to improve this property and helping others find the beauty of Topsail Island, the marine life, and the pleasure of enjoying this magnificent place we get to call home.

Why they chose this property

South Shore Drive between the pier and the S-curve is the perfect location. It's close to everything but it's not a high-traffic road. This area is an easy place to enjoy walking, biking and being out and about. SummerSalt provides you with such an EASY vacation, with access to water, sand, and fun. You will feel like it's your home away from home, not just another rental.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with this home because of the large but secluded backyard. It was the perfect place to install a pool, add a large deck and enclose a hot/cold outside shower. We loved updating the interior of the home, making clean and simple decorating choices while we provided the amenities that we've all come to count on. And the location is perfect - a quiet street that gives you the ability to safely walk or bike wherever you'd like to explore. There are plenty of businesses in less than one mile and a nice park too, with access to the Intracoastal Waterway, or what we call "the other side of the island." This property is truly a gem, with comfortable indoor living space but terrific outdoor living spaces too!
