About this property
Mirandole, luxury holiday home in France
Just a short distance (2km) from the lovely town of Martel, we came across Mirandole, an eye-catching property which has been recently built in the local style.
From its elevated position, Mirandole enjoys far reaching views towards Martel and beyond. In fact, the first owners loved the vista so much that they designed the house to take full advantage of its situation.
Internally, the ground floor is dedicated to the bedrooms and bathrooms whilst the open plan living/dining room occupies the whole of the first floor. Here, French windows frame the views and in the kitchen area, a window seat has been incorporated into the units. At one end of this spacious room, bi folding doors open fully allowing a seamless transition between the comfortable living area and an inviting outdoor dining terrace, where 5 small steps lead down to the adjacent pool and lower terrace, all positioned to make the most of the evening sun and the sunshine throughout the day.
Throughout the house, a real sense of space and light has been achieved with tiled floors, pale pastel walls in the bedrooms, and a ceiling of double height in the living area. Modern bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas and underfloor heating ensure your home from home comforts have not been forgotten
Entrance hall. Double bedroom with en suite bathroom and French windows to garden. Double bedroom. Shower room. Twin bedroom with en suite shower room and French windows to garden. Utility area (washing machine). Underfloor heating throughout the house. WiFi.
First floor: Spacious open plan living/dining room (TV, DVD, CD, iPod dock, wood burning stove) with large French windows and patio doors to pool terrace. Kitchen (oven, microwave, dishwasher). Cloakroom.
Second floor: Spacious mezzanine room with twin beds overlooking the living room.
Outside: Pool terrace. Built-in barbecue. Private parking. Large grounds (0.5 hectares) of woodland and garden. Private swimming pool (10m x 5m) with corner Roman steps.
Outside
Y our time will no doubt be spent around the pool and dining terrace, although the rest of the grounds deserve exploration too. Covering half a hectare, they are mainly given over to woodland and have been left 'au naturel'.
To one side of the property is a country footpath which takes you past fields and meadows to the village of Baladou. It is one of many walks that can be enjoyed in this area, as well as other sporting activities such as canoeing on the River Dordogne (5km) and horse riding.
Environments
Martel, situated in the Dordogne valley area of the Lot, is a fine example of a Gallic town full of life and exuberance. Historic stone buildings house restaurants, cafés and shops, with narrow streets leading to the main square where a beautiful covered market place takes centre stage. Surrounded by undulating countryside through which the River Dordogne flows, Martel will no doubt appeal to many. Within easy driving distance, you will come across many famous sites including the spectacular village of Rocamadour (21km), the fascinating caves at Padirac (28km) and the well known town of Sarlat-la-Canéda (an hour's drive) in the Dordogne. Closer to home, a ride on the steam train that runs along the cliffs between Martel and St Denis will delight children and we are sure everyone will enjoy the summer evenings in Martel.
