About this property
Sea, sand shingle, nature and forest
Freshly decorated and with new bedding ‘1 Stable Cottage’ is a charming two storey country cottage adjacent to the main house, all in a wooded 10 acre private property with 2 acre walled garden which guests are free to enjoy. Right on the coast with private access to the south facing beach; safe, shallow bay for swimming or water activities. Within New Forest National Park with easy access to tranquil walks and country pubs. Summer house with views over the water available for guests.
The space
Our seaside cottage has three bedrooms, two upstairs with double beds and one with a single bed downstairs for the less agile. The cottage has a ‘width of cottage’ open drawing room/dining room area with a wood burner, french doors and a separate ante-room with work area and desk. There is a newly fitted kitchen looking across to the walled garden and a downstairs loo. Upstairs serving the two double bedrooms is a bathroom with bath and shower and a separate loo. One bedroom features an additional dressing room with wash basin which also allows plenty of room for a cot. All bedrooms have cupboards.
The cottage sits within the main private ten acre grounds of the house but guests have access to the charming two acre walled garden with orchard and a tennis court which guests are invited to use. A small summer house looks over the sea (see picture) and is available for guests to use and is ideal for a picnic, reading, day dreaming and dozing. There is also private access to the beach and Stanswood Bay at the bottom of the garden.
The cottage was built in the 1800’s and although the downstairs and living room space has high ceilings there are the quirky features which might be expected from a converted stable block such as restricted headroom under upstairs eves.
We welcome cat lovers (we have three) and welcome dogs that are sociable and cat friendly. The cottage and the main house are adjacent, thus so are curious cats and our three over-friendly black labs who know their way to any fridge.

We have just renovated the cottage and want to keep it as lovely as we can for as long as we can for our guests; hence we ask for ‘no parties’ and we discourage muddy boots, or dogs with wet and dirty feet on new carpets. We will provide you with abundant dog towels.
We are very mindful of our guests and respect their privacy. We welcome any requests and issues you might have before and during your stay so please feel free to raise any issues - we are always pleased to help. Marianne is a long term host with another small adjacent property, and we are always here to help and be as accommodating as we can be. Its your holiday. There is plenty of room and privacy in an idyllic setting. Enjoy. Marianne.
Guest access
Cottage is accessed through main door. No dedicated garden space but you have access to 2 a acre walled garden including tennis court, apple and pear orchard, rose garden and 2 other gardens. We also have a summer house facing the sea ( 1 min. walk) and a private gate taking you down to the beach.
The cottage is 40 close our quarters - but the cottage is not facing our property; we respect guests privacy.
Other things to note
Strictly no parties or smoking.
We have 3 cats and 2 labs we prefer guests who have got cat friendly dogs.
