Town: Resting between Bridgwater and Taunton in Somerset, on the lower slopes of the Quantocks and the River Parrett is the town of North Petherton. This bustling Somerset town was once an important settlement as far back as Saxon times and has a number of claim to fames, including the poet Geoffrey Chaucer, who was Deputy Forester at the royal estate of Petherton Park. Within the town, you will find a number of amenities and survives, including shops, pubs, restaurants and a selection of takeaways, offering something for all tastes. A larger selection of amenities can be found a short distance away in the historic market town of Bridgwater, including a train station so that you can easily visit other parts of Somerset and beyond. Outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to spending time within the Quantock Hills AONB, where you will find panoramic views taking through the diverse landscapes of coast, heath and combe, accompanied by deep wooded combes, exposed heathland summits and a number of charming villages to stop off at. Attractions within the area include the National Trust owned Fyne Court, The Seven Sisters for superb views and the WWT Steart Marshes, which provides a habitat for many seabirds and fish. Other places from North Petherton, which are worth a visit, include Taunton and further afield is the seaside resort town of Weston-super-Mare. A great base for touring this part of England with your loved ones.
