The cottage was amazing, extremely clean and the hosts had provided everything you would need. Also a great location, a short drive from many towns

A lovely stay
The old sweet shop is a great place to stay. Very comfortable with plenty of space and everything you could want.
We really enjoyed the charm of the building.
Only downside is parking and although we parked through the alleyway on the very wet days was a little annoying but manageable. But would still book again for the charm and comfort of the cottage.

We had a great stay in this well equipped cottage, no parking outside but just a 5 minute walk away we could park for free.

Fabulous Period Property In A Great Spot
This gem of a property was perfect for our Cotswold weekend and we had a great few days in Chipping Norton. From a great App (accessed via a QR Code) or an alternative written guide, via the Guest Book we got to know all about the property and the area.
A lovely locally baked cake and some milk were waiting for us too.
Really well equipped in the kitchen and a lovely garden this property was fabulous.

The Old Sweet Shop
Such a delightful little cottage not too far from the centre of Chipping Norton (a 5 minute walk).
The Old Sweet Shop was a delight in itself and it was well equipped. A short walk into the town centre where you’ll find everything you need.
Our only criticism of the cottage was that the kitchen bins were not emptied upon our arrival, a few “crumbs” underneath the TV and the TV itself was quite hard to phantom out but apart from that, it was faultless, albeit a short walk uphill from parking your car!
Overall, I’d recommend this 100% and a very central point to visit neighbouring towns

Homely and comfortable - not for those with limited mobility
Compact and comfortable with most things you needed for a short break. It is on a busy road but fairly quiet overnight. Fridge rather small if you plan to cook. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Car parking not ideal - short distance but steep incline back to property. House instructions are on QR Code - I didn’t find there was enough detail. Need information on TV set up. Only real problem I had was the washing machine wasn’t working. I did report this.

Thank you Patricia for your review of The Old Sweet Shop. The location of the property is visible on the website and the matterport display views the interior and exterior of the property. If you had difficulty locating the property using the QR code the property manager would have been available to give you directions to the property, likewise during your stay they will be more than happy to assist you with any issues. A lovely place to stay in the centre of Chipping Norton
We really enjoyed our 5 day stay at The Old Sweet Shop. It is within easy walking distance of the centre of Chipping Norton which is a gorgeous town and there is parking within an quick walk from the cottage. The cottage is warm and cozy and the beds are nice and comfortable, though, as we found out on our travels around the country - a UK king size is only the size of an Australian queen size - so if you are after a bigger bed, which we were, then look out for supersize kings.
Plus a couple of points of feedback :-
1) some of the information in the information folder needs updating and matching to the online version eg. using the TV and how to negotiate the heating and access to firewood. Also with regards to the heating instructions - we found it quite confusing given that we don't have boiler/central heating in Australia so had to rely on Google to try and understand what-was-what in the instructions.
2) Perhaps more regular and thorough inspections by the owners or managing agents to pick up little maintenance/housekeeping issues that the cleaners don't seem to see or report like:-
- the faulty metal standard bedside lamp with its shade adrift from the stand hanging by the electrical wire (which we unplugged as it was very unsafe) and flickering LED lights in the master when using the dimmer
- mould patches forming in the grout in the bathroom
- only 1 toilet roll for 3 people for 5 days
- things stored behind the bedhead that are gathering dust and cobwebs
- lots of clutter eg. broom cupboard, out of date items/food from previous guests crowding the kitchen and bathroom cupboards and draws which were full of unopened junk mail and stuff.
Lovely little place to enjoy the Cotswolds. There is a little back garden with a two person table. Quick walk to the center of town. The second bedroom has a double bed along with a bunk type bed that is suitable for a child up to 5 or 6.

Great Location, all the facilities on site for short or long stays, ideal garden for dogos
We booked the The Old Sweet Shop as a mini break originally with the idea of taking our 2 dogs with us to explore the area, after staying in Burford earlier in the year, with the location being so good for exploring other villages in the surrounding areas, we had a change of plan and didn't need to take our dogs in the end which worked out better for us.
The accommodation is as described, small 2.5 bed cottage with a half/mini bed for small child in the smaller 2nd bedroom, downstairs is open plan with cute comfy lounge with decent size TV and log burner which it was too warm to light but enjoyed the Netflix after being out all day to recharge.
The kitchen is ample and nice to see guests had left long life items for the next people to use, so no need to take tea coffee sugar etc, there was a few other items for cooking as well but we ate out for every meal during our stay but nice to know some essentials are there for longer stays.
ideally situated in the lovely village of Chipping Norton which has everything you could need when visiting, Co-Op and Sainsburys for sensible stuff and a number of pubs/restaurant's for dining as well as cafes for breakfast/brunch/lunch
The cottage could do with a better clean and maybe some TLC to some of the paintwork, but it didn't take away anything from our short stay, I would recommend this to anybody wanting to stay in the area, however we wouldn't stay again as want to explore more areas of the Cotswolds in future but will look to book with the same website
