A rare treat

The Gun Room at Ingleby Manor is a rare treat. Beautifully furnished and cozy, it is way larger than the photographs tell you. The family were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Christine was very generous with her time, telling us about the history of the house. She also baked a mean cake which was a very welcome welcome gift. The grounds are wonderful for a peaceful wander in nature. We saw hares and weasels and a lot of rabbits. The village pub is a 1/2 mile stroll away. The Dudley Arms serves good pub food, and the cafe next door does an excellent breakfast. We used The Gun Room as a base for some terrific (but hilly) walks and mountain bike rides from the front door. The large bath was very welcome after all this activity. All in all, a magical, peaceful retreat away from it all. Nothing. It was genuinely wonderful.
