About the host
Hosted by Fitch
Hi, I'm Fitch. I'm a London expat living in Edinburgh :) After 15 years working in London and 5 years in Warsaw, I moved to Edinburgh for a slightly quieter life nearer the hills. I grew up down south, but my family are Scots so it was kind of move home having never actually lived in Scotland. I work in UX for a couple of tech startups and love design, architecture and the great outdoors.
Why they chose this property
In all candour, I actually feel very lucky to have settled in Leith; it happened more by luck than by design. I fell in love with the tall ceilings of Leith Hospital, and it was only after moving in that I discovered what an amazing area The Shore in Leith is. If you know where to look, there’s so much to do just in Leith without even needing to venture into the centre of Edinburgh itself.
What makes this property unique
The property itself is rich in history, having served as a working hospital until 1987. Unfortunately, when it was converted into residential flats in 2003, much of its original character was lost. Over the past five years, I’ve been meticulously ‘re-converting’ it, trying to restore some of the heritage feel that was compromised during the initial conversion. Today it's a really interesting mix heritage and ultra modern design. Whilst there’s still more I plan to do, I’m really pleased with the energy of the space I’ve created. I work away a lot, but I always love coming back to my space in Leith!
