An idyllic family get away with great pubs in walking distance
My family and I had a lovely, cosy stay at Post Office Cottage. The property is situated in a great location which is private and quiet but is within walking distance to three local pubs. We all enjoyed our stay, but agreed collectively that there were a few things that could be modified, to improve our stay. Suggestions were small but easily rectifiable for example having a full length mirror in the property, having more basic amenities such as cling film, foil, oven gloves, a bin, egg cups, tea, sugar and coffee provided and more glasses.

Two weeks in Shipton-Under-Wychwood
My family and I enjoyed two weeks at the old post office cottage in the beautiful town of Shipton-Under-Wychwood. This beautiful little town is quiet and away from the tourist traffic, but still close enough to enjoy nearby Cotswold villages and beautiful countryside. The home is very well maintained and matches the photos well in my opinion. Our host was responsive and very helpful. Be sure to visit The Crown pub directly across the street!

Disappointing
This should be a beautiful property. It is in a charming location and full of potential. Unfortunately poor choices inside let it down. The furnishings appeared to be the bare minimum: most of the walls were depressingly bare and showed empty picture hooks. It had a strangely austere feeling for having so little in the way of comfort and warm touches. There were not enough bedside tables for the number of beds. The supplies were bleakly thrifty: the cheapest possible hand soap, a miserly pair of bin bags, and just three dishwasher tablets. The glassware was an odd mix of abandoned pairs, e.g. just a single champagne flute. There was nothing inside the property that was welcoming or thoughtful. The paintwork was variously flaking and in need of repairs. There was a large piece of plasterwork missing above the front door. All in all, our stay was fine but for the price and the setting we were disappointed.

Lovely House
Great house in a lovely location- nice pubs within walking distance and a short drive to great locations in the cotswolds. House desperately needs more cleaning equipment- it's a self catering house where of course friends/ families will cook and inevitably make a mess together. All that was present was a dribble of washing up liquid left in an old bottle. We dropped and smashed a bottle of wine so needed to use bath towels to soak up wine from the kitchen floor. It would have been a nice touch to atleast have some basics eg tea coffee sugar present in the house too. We were told a kids hi chair would be dropped off on the second day which never happened.

Stay in the cotswolds
We had a great stay, the accommodation was lovely and the updates from those managing it was great.
On the day of check-in we received a message to say we could check in early (before midday), however on the website it says 5 o'clock check-in (which is quite late). We were also allowed a later check-out which was a bonus.
The only downside is we had not made any plans to arrive earlier than 5, so the only improvement would be to give a little more notice on check-in and check-out times so we could make the most of it. Otherwise it was what we needed

Thank you Abigail for your review of Post Office Cottage. We are delighted to know that you had a great stay and the accommodation was lovely and the communication from the management team was great. It is the decision of the property manager to allow an early check in and late departure, this is dependent on their timescale and if the property is ready for guest arrival. This is not a decision that can be made by StayCotswold. We hope you will return to the Cotswolds soon.

Lovely little cottage!
We had a great week at Post Office Cottage. We chose the location as it’s very near family, but the village is lovely with a pub a few minutes away and the lovely Cotswolds Lounge for breakfast, lunch and coffee a five minute walk away. We also had pizza from Fire and Wine in Milton which was lovely.
The cottage was cosy and nicely furnished. I did raise some concerns about cleanliness with the property manager and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He also helped when one of the radiators wasn’t working and he came over with a heater and also lit a log fire which was much appreciated.
There are some things that could do with a bit of a refresh, and a bit more furniture for storing clothes would be great.
Also note the shower is very low due to the sloped ceilings!
We had a lovely stay and will definitely return.

Post Office Cottage: Shipton-under-Wychwood
Post Office Cottage is located in the beautiful village of Shipton-under-Wychwood. The location is perfect for exploring The Cotswolds.
However, in terms of the accommodation itself, it is getting tired and needs maintenance. The front gate is broken. The internal paintwork needs a refresh, particularly the painted kitchen cupboards. Cleanliness also needs attention. A leftover pizza crust stuck to foil in the oven grill pan is not acceptable. The TV was smeared in handprints. The outdoor bins were full of the previous occupant’s rubbish. There is a lack of information regarding the operation of the tech, particularly TV instructions. Information on what items go in each outdoor bin in terms of recycling/waste was non-existent. The ability to turn off the extractor fan at night in the WC adjacent the main bedroom would be welcomed. The shower head feeder pipe needs to be reduced in length to avoid the bathroom floor being sprayed with water each time the shower is used.
Overall we had a lovely stay but the property would definitely benefit from a refresh. Cleanliness needs to be addressed.
