Beautiful home, amazing view!! House is very clean, kitchen fully stocked. Basement is cold if you are sleeping down there, space heaters would be nice. The road up to the house is very steep. Would definitely stay again!

Magnificent view in the quiet and calm surroundings of Lake Watauga! All 7 of our party greatly enjoyed our time at Still Waters Cabin. This was the perfect setting for our annual praying, planning and playing retreat! Thanks, Gerry, for providing this wonderful accommodation!
Really enjoyed our stay. The home was very clean and welcoming. We had ages ranging from 1 year to 65 and it was wonderful. Beautiful veiw. The only downside was the stairs to the dock are very steep with carring kids, floats or for older family members. But Overall we enjoyed our time and would stay again.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Still Water. The house and views were great. We quickly got used to the drive up to the house, also! The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Our grandchildren spent most of their day in the lake and didn't want to leave!

Great place for improvement
Great view but the property was not maintained, weeds and grass waist high overgrowing the pathway, trash can security inoperable and litter all over as we arrived. The dock advertised and depicted is no longer present, the downstairs set up was musty smelling and has no heat source other than it is tied into the main floor and whole houses solitary zone for 3 levels. Therefore any adjustment satisfies the main level thermostat only. The space was beautiful but it felt less than homey outside of the living room, things piece-mealed and thrown together to suit the bare minimum, especially the kitchen cookware and utensils. A lot of dead bugs littered on window sills, flooring and in the kitchen. The hot tub was filthy with debris. Many broken chairs discovered the hard way.Great grill, awesome view, cozy living room but desperately needs owner attention and accountability restored in the housekeeping & landscaping crew. Perhaps developing a way to heat/cool the segregate space effectively as well would make things more comfortable and tolerable for that matter. Additionally, some updated pics to accurately depict the quarters as well as amenities and their updated availability to the listing would be great.
Great cabin - beautiful view- lake is really nice. Cabin was clean. Had a great time - plenty of room for everyone. (9 of us) No real complaints- everything was nice - no issues to report. Constructive criticism would be: Mattresses could be updated / dock access is really steep and a little rickety(handrails were loose)
Beautiful house and view! If you prefer being right on the water this is not the house but the view and house itself are great! Terrific decks with lots of chairs, fire ring and hot tub with a view. Mattresses could stand updating. No cell signal at all but good WIFI. Very few stores, restaurants on this side of the lake so plan to drive or bring food in and cook. A bit inconvenient for kayaking and swimming. Overall very comfortable and well equipped

I had an excellent time with my family, the views were beautiful, we only had a problem with one of the rented cars that broke down and the rental car company took several days to pick it up, accidents happen but the property owner doesn't understand that and since I was there for several days because of the company, they charged me an unnecessary charge, and that is a mistreatment of the client
It was all excellent. Only few things that wasn't good. One is the stairs to the dock are very unsafe. My 14 year old grand son fell down the stairs to the dock and had to go to the hospital for stitches. My daughter inlaw took a tumble on the stairs to the dock also but she's ok. The second one was there was mold growing in the kurig coffee machine. The air conditioning not able to cool off the up stairs area. We had to use all the fans. The bunk beds are safe for adults. Only held a few slats on a cupple of them. Pool table was very unstable.
We spent a memorable thanksgiving overlooking the beautiful views that Stillwater’s had to offer. We were a group of 10 (adults and kids). The owner was great in communicating with us and gave us some really good suggestions for activities to do near and around. Our kids had a great time and loved being able to have their dog with them. The cabin was as described. It’s nestled in the woods and cell service is limited but WIFI was available. If you don’t have any experience driving in the mountains you may feel timid at first but will get the hang of it quick. There are a lot of reviews about the ladybugs and yes they were present but it’s a cabin surrounded by nature! They really aren’t an issue and it’s understanding why they are there. There are plenty of sites to see, activities to do and restaurants and markets about 15 miles away. Of course driving through the mountains takes some time so about a 35/40 minute car drive away. But you have some really wonderful views to enjoy along the drive. The drive alone to any location was an experience in itself for the adults and the kids. We went horseback riding in North Carolina and ATV riding in the mountains of Tennessee. All about the same distance from the cabin. Clear views of the stars at night. Peaceful and very relaxing. Thank you for sharing your property with us. We had a great experience.

Beautiful home but "luxury experience" is a stretch
8/2024: We booked this home because of the beautiful online presence. Initial communication with the host was great.
There's NO CELL service and no phone in the home. If you have an emergency, you will need to drive 30-40 minutes to the marina to make a call.
The view in the front yard that is shown in the pics no longer exists. If you're on the upper deck, you can see the water, but the property is really overgrown. There's trash and litter (beer cans, etc) near the firepit and lower patio. There are cameras on the deck/porch/patio. That was pretty weird.
There are 3 kayaks, but you need to get them down to the dock. You can't leave your car at the dock, so you unload, drive your car back up the crazy hill to the house, walk back down to the dock. You then will need someone to walk up the crazy hill to get the car.
The home is really close to another home at the top of the hill, you can't see it in the photos.
The pool table and tennis table were great for the teens. The 2nd floor BRs (w/bunks) were very hot, despite the ac temp downstairs. No air flow upstairs at all.
There was a "water hammer" problem in the pipes that we dealt with every day/night we were there. If you don't know what "water hammer" is, google it and you will see why couldn't live with the noise. We vacated the property, ended our yearly family vacation early, and got barely enough of a refund for the trouble. Nothing "luxury" about our experience.
Hope it gets resolved before someone books.
Absolutely loved everything about our stay. The pictures don’t do it justice for how beautiful the cabin and the lake is. The amenities provided (pool table, ping pong table , jacuzzi, and a long list of other things) made the stay even better. I Highly recommend for any occasion . The hill is a steep drive up and a workout of a walk but only 1/4 mile, it’s fast and you get used to it. Not many stores around but that’s what makes it such a great getaway, but there are other cabins close by and a (very fun) shared lake dock. The lake is stunning and so is the view. Only suggestion is a king sized bed. 5 stars all around for a perfect vacation.
The location of this property was amazing, the view was breath taking, the water-mountain view was really nice and welcoming. This house had alot, the kitchen was well stocked, enough pillows and blankets, game area was nice and have lots for our younger ones to enjoy. One of the big problems we had with this property was how dirty it was, sheets on beds were not clean, dirty used towels and the showers were very nasty. The floors were not moped and the grill was left very very dirty. We were there to relax and spend time but if you are there for work or wanting wifi often, it's very choppy and alot of in and out...signal was weak alot but it could be we had a few devices running from the kids.
Overall we would visit again but hoping the cleaning fee and hosting fees paid was used to clean the house properly.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for! The views were simply stunning to enjoy morning coffee on the deck. We had two families staying here and there was plenty of room for all of us.
House was perfect and amazing what we expected and more. Maybe add that the driveway is steep in the house ad but easily navigable but otherwise no issues
We enjoyed our stay overall. Living room is comfy and we enjoyed the fireplace and the view! Lots of beds and hot tub and pool table were a nice bonus! Driveway is very steep and we would have liked to have been warned about that with snow and ice in the forecast. Otherwise communication was great with owner. We had to cut our trip short so that we didn’t get stuck there. Nice house with everything you need!

December 2021 - New Year's Vacation
The property advertisement is correct, and the cabin was as large as imagined, easily accommodating three modest families...
The Advantages: - Beautiful property, facilities, views, and design.
The Negatives:
- The cleaning crew needs to be replaced; we wasted hours cleaning the property inside and out when we arrived, and the property is infected with lady bugs that aren't just fluttering around. The girls didn't use the upper bedrooms because they couldn't stand the flying bugs. Because the bugs are drawn to light, we had to turn off all lights, close all curtains, blinds, and so on. We had to clean everything, even the decks outside and the fire pit portion.
The owner offered to send the cleaning crew back, but we were already set up and cleaning and didn't want to deal with the situation.
Overall: Amazing property, beautiful views and amenities. The nearest grocery store it is 30+ minutes away as others have noted, which did not bother us, but I feel compelled to say it again.
Would we return?
We adore nature and the mountains, but we also need our homes to be clean and pest-free, so... no, we wouldn't!
The owner is friendly and accommodating, and if you don't mind any of the difficulties stated, the cabin is ideal for you and your family.
