River Rose – Family Cottage by the river
River Rose is a lovely 2 bedroom cottage situated in a quiet cul-de-sac beside the tranquil river Wensum. A perfect retreat for couples or families, the property is the ideal base from which to explore all that North Norfolk has to offer. Boasting a fully equipped modern kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher, a lounge to kick back and relax with a sofa to sink in to, an invigorating walk in shower with rain head and super comfy beds to recharge the batteries. Enjoy sitting out by the river with a refreshing drink in the south facing front garden where the Mallards often visit or retreat to the cooler private rear garden. There are 2 allocated parking spaces. A few minutes walk into town and you are in the centre of Fakenham where you can find pubs, restaurants, a cinema, sport centre and a bowling alley with soft play area and escape rooms. Also within walking distance is the Langham glass factory, Fakenham racecourse and golf club.
Fakenham is an historic market town with something to offer for all ages. The market which started in the 13 century still operates every Thursday with a variety of goods traded. There are many places to eat with a selection of great pubs, restaurants and take aways. There is a quaint small cinema, a bowling alley with a soft play area and escape rooms. You can watch live glassmaking demonstrations at the Langham glass factory. The Gas Museum tells the story of how this new fuel changed the lives of society with an interesting array of appliances. Fakenham also has its own race course with meetings throughout the year. Next to the racecourse is the golf course. This beautiful tree lined course formed in 1889 welcomes visitors to play on it's 9 holes which has 2 sets of tees to make it 18 holes. If walking is your thing then there are many trails where you can take in lovely riverside scenery, the woods, grassland and the town. Fakenham is a great base to explore the rest of North Norfolk. Many popular destinations are under 30 minutes drive. These include Pensthorpe Nature Park 7 mins, Thursford 11 mins, Houghton Hall 18 mins, Wells Next The Sea beach 21 mins, Holkham Hall 24 mins, Blakeney Point 25 mins, Sandringham 25 mins and Hunstanton 30 mins. Even a day trip to Norwich is only 40 minutes drive. Many of these are also accessible via bus.
