About this property
Holiday home in Spiddal Connemara
This four-bedroom semi-detached home in Spiddal village is ideal for family holidays or a break with friends. It’s just a two-minute walk to the centre of the village and five minutes from the beach.
The house includes four double bedrooms. The main bedroom is ensuite, and there’s an extra fold-up bed for children or unexpected guests. One room includes a desk and chair if you need to work during your stay. There’s a family bathroom upstairs and a guest toilet downstairs.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you need for everyday cooking. A separate utility room has both a washing machine and a dryer. The living room is comfortable and has an open fire for cooler evenings.
Outside, the back garden is enclosed and has a picnic table - perfect for family meals outdoors. There’s also a new patio at the front of the house with a bistro table and chairs for two, ideal for enjoying a quiet evening.
There’s plenty to do nearby - enjoy local walks, explore the seashore, swim or fish from the pier, or just watch the sunset over Galway Bay. The newly developed coastal path is just minutes from the house.
You won’t need a car while you’re here. Spiddal is served by Bus Éireann route 424 from Galway City. Shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs with occasional live traditional music are all within walking distance.
About the Area
Spiddal (An Spidéal) sits on the shores of Galway Bay, 18km west of Galway City, on the edge of Connemara. It’s part of the Gaeltacht, where Irish is spoken daily, although most people also speak English. All signs are in Irish.
The village has its own beach -Trá an Spidéil - with views across the bay to the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Aran Islands. There are two beaches in the village, both south-facing and connected by a walking and cycling path. One is near the main road, and the other, more sheltered beach is beside the pier.
The area is well-known for shore angling, especially during the mackerel season. In the village you’ll find a good selection of places to eat and drink, with live traditional music on some weekends.
