Riverside cottage is a charming 19th century home that’s recently been completely refurbished. Located in the heart of Canterbury, within the Roman city walls, it's just a short walk from the main attractions.
The house is at the end of a no-through-road. There’s no passing traffic, making it a quiet, peaceful place to relax.
It's located directly on the River Stour and enjoys beautiful views; so if you love being near the water, this is the place for you.
The Space
• two bedrooms upstairs that can be configured to your needs. Typically, we have a king-size bed in the master bedroom and 2 small-single beds in the other room.
• a beautiful living room with exposed brickwork and 2 comfortable leather sofas. The TV has digital signal and can stream Netflix, iPlayer and all the main apps. (you will need your account details)
• a good-size kitchen with dining table for 5 people - great for meals and perfect for working on your laptop, with an excellent Wi-Fi signal from the nearby router.
• a modern bathroom on the ground-floor features a large, luxury walk-in shower. There’s no bath.
• a courtyard garden with river views suitable for eating or just sitting to enjoy the river and the tranquillity.
• full fibre internet - 150Mbps approx.

*** Bedroom Configuration *** The bedrooms are normally configured as a king-size double in bedroom 1 and two small singles in bedroom 2, suitable for children and young adults.
However, • bedroom 2 can also be configured as a king-size double • bedroom 1 has a smaller trundle bed (20cm shorter than normal bed), stored under the main bed. Either or both of these options can be provided upon request, with sufficient notice. There is an additional charge of £20 per stay for using one these custom configurations. Please see the Additional photos – Bed Configurations, for clarification on these options.
To request a non-standard bedroom configuration please book and message us to say which option you would like. We will then manually request the fee of £20 via the Resolution Centre.
There is also a pop-up 'travel cot'. It’s kept in the wardrobe of the master bedroom and needs to be set up. Bedding for the cot isn’t provided.
*** Parking *** Free parking can be arranged upon request. You must provide your car registration number well before arrival – ideally a week. I will arrange a 'Visitor Permit' for you which will allow you to use the "City Centre" zone on-street parking.
There are usually spaces outside the cottage and there are other spaces a short walk from the cottage on the neighbouring streets. City Centre zone spaces can’t be reserved or guaranteed however so far there has never been a problem and guests have always found a space. Please see the Additional photos – Parking 1, for a view of what City Centre zone spaces are where.
Alternatively, for a short stay there is ample off-street parking in the various public car parks nearby. Please see the Additional photos – Parking 1. Or for longer stays the cheapest parking option is to use one of the City's Park and Ride carparks. They charge £4/day. There are three "Park and Ride" car parks, the closest one is Wincheap and is about 15 minutes walk from the house. Please see the Additional photos – Parking 2.
Guest Access • The cottage has a fairly steep and narrow staircase (see Additional Pictures) and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
Other Details • Pets - Sorry, no pets. We love animals but have allergies as do many of our guests. • No shoes upstairs please. The stair carpet is new so please help keep it clean. • No naked flames - Please, no candles or other naked flames. • No smoking - There will be a £250 charge for additional cleaning and laundry if evidence of smoking is found in the house. You can smoke in the garden if necessary.
