Bodiam (7-miles) is a 14th-century moated castle now owned by the National Trust and Great Dixter House and Gardens (2.5 miles), an Edwin Lutyens design once owned by Christopher Lloyd, the famous gardening writer, is a wonderful day out. Tillingham vineyard (4 miles) is a biodynamic wine producer offering tours and tastings and has a restaurant.
This lodge has been inspired by the sheilings (àirighean) that were once common in the Scottish Highlands and which were occupied by the workers while the cattle were out on their summer pastures. Step inside this beautifully decorated, light-filled property and into its open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, enjoying the view out the floor-to-ceiling windows along the glazed walls. Furnished to a high standard and offering a comfortable seating area around a Smart TV and a cosy bioethanol wood burner, a large dining table with eight chairs and a fully equipped modern kitchen. There are two comfortable bedrooms, one king-size and one twin bedroom, both with garden views from the large windows. There is a generous bathroom with a shower over the bath, toilet and heated towel rail. There is a utility cupboard housing the washing machine.
The decked terrace area can be accessed from the lounge and both bedrooms. You could simply enjoy a morning cuppa from your bed and watch the world wake up in front of you! In addition to the terrace area is a garden with a table and chairs, pond with fountain, sunshade, and BBQ. Swing, table tennis table, trampoline and half size football pitch available during summer months.
This cabin can be booked in conjunction with its sister property, River Birch (RH1177), to sleep up to eight guests.
