About this property
2 Bed in Burnham Overy Staithe (oc-p30460)
Close to a historic quay and huge beach, this cosy two-bedroomed cottage is the perfect base for a laid-back North Norfolk break. Pet-friendly, it has parking on the doorstep and a welcoming pub within 200m.
Steeped in nautical history, Burnham Overy Staithe is famed for its postcard-pretty quay, creeks, salt marshes and sand dunes. And you can explore them all from this 17th-century end-of-terrace cottage. Step through the back door into the thoughtfully designed kitchen, complete with a small table and chairs. From here, you’ll find a handy utility room leading to a family bathroom with a separate shower for added flexibility. Enjoy mealtimes in the traditionally furnished dining room, then watch TV or plan your next day’s fun in the cosy lounge, lighting the wood burner for added ambience. When it''s time to retire, a wooden staircase leads upstairs, where the main bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. At the rear of the property, the private patio area has a picnic bench for al fresco dining and drinks and, beyond, a communal garden provides lawn space where dogs and children can let off steam.
There’s unrestricted parking outside the property – and private parking for one car can be arranged with the owner in advance – so unpack then enjoy a fuss-free stay. Follow the Norfolk Coast Path to the beach, or take a boat trip to the Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve. Afterwards, visit the village’s laid-back pub for locally sourced, seasonal meals and a selection of thirst-quenching drinks. For longer walks, a stunning stretch of the Norfolk Coast Path links Burnham Overy Staithe with the sand dunes and beach at Holkham. Further on, Wells-next-the-Sea (6 miles) is a family-friendly seaside destination, with a sweeping sandy beach bordered by pinewoods and colourful beach huts, a quay where children can fish for crabs, and a bustling selection of shops and eateries.
