Step into the cobbled courtyard and discover Pletts Barn, a unique Grade II listed retreat in the heart of Grassington. Dating back to the mid-17th century, with sensitive 18th and 20th-century alterations, this former barn retains its historic gritstone walls, stone slate roof, quoined stonework, original doorways, and charming pigeon holes. Its story is steeped in history: John Wesley preached here in 1780–1782, and in the 19th century it was home to the Pletts family, local farmers and cabinet makers. Today, the barn has been sympathetically converted to offer spacious, characterful living, blending original features with modern comfort.

Inside, the ground floor features two double bedrooms (one with a luxurious en-suite), a stylish four-piece bathroom, a snug, a dining area, and a practical boot room/utility space. Underfloor heating throughout adds warmth and comfort, making the barn cosy even in the cooler months. Upstairs, a dramatic minstrel gallery leads into the impressive open-plan living and kitchen space, framed by exposed roof trusses, beams, and stonework. A wood burner stove adds extra warmth and character, while the bespoke kitchen provides contemporary units, a breakfast island, and modern appliances. The master suite offers a private sanctuary with dressing area and en-suite.

Outside, a dedicated seating area provides a peaceful spot for morning coffee or an evening drink, and parking for two cars is conveniently available.

The barn’s location is equally enchanting. A one-minute walk brings you to Grassington village square, with independent shops, artisan bakeries, coffee houses, and traditional pubs. Year-round markets, festivals, and cultural events give the village a lively spirit. Beyond the village, the Yorkshire Dales National Park offers endless exploration. Walk scenic trails along the River Wharfe, through limestone pavements and rolling hills. Nearby highlights include Malham Cove, a striking limestone amphitheatre, and Kilnsey Fishing Park, ideal for a day of fly fishing.

Grassington is well connected, with local buses to surrounding villages and the market town of Skipton, just nine miles away, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, and train connections.

Whether you’re seeking a historical hideaway, a family adventure, or a base to explore the Dales, Pletts Barn combines history, character, and modern comfort — from its underfloor heating and wood burner to the spacious living areas — with the surrounding landscape promising unforgettable experiences.
