Somerset is rich in wildlife and is one of the country’s top areas for birdwatching. It also offers a heritage railway, where visitors can take a trip on longest standard gauge line in the country. This is an excellent touring base for the area, with the stunning town of Glastonbury just over ten miles away, noted for its famous music festival, it also benefits from an array of superb amenities and displays a stunning abbey, Clarkes Shopping Village at Street, Wells Cathedral, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge all within an easy drive. If a day at the beach is what you're after, the seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea is easily reachable and offers a range of amenities as well as its wonderful sandy beach. Avid walkers can make the most of the nearby Mendip Hills AONB and features magnificent walking and cycling country. Travelling slightly further afield; to the south you'll find many places of interest; the beautiful fishing port of West Bay, the Jurassic Coast with Lyme Regis and the artisan town of Bridport with its markets and music venues or the historic cities of Bath and Wells.
