About this property

The Power House, Skinningrove

Summary:

This converted Victorian powerhouse is situated in the village of Skinningrove on the Cleveland Way footpath in North Yorkshire and can sleep seventeen people in six bedrooms.

The Space:

The Power House is a superb conversion of a former Victorian powerhouse, just 800 yards from the sandy beach in Skinningrove. The cottage sleeps seventeen people and has six bedrooms (two with an en-suite), a sofa bed and three family bathrooms. It also contains two kitchens with dining areas (one with a snooker table and table football), fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer. Two travel cots and one highchair and two sitting rooms. This property also has an enclosed front lawn, courtyard, hot tub and sauna, along with off-road parking for 8 vehicles. and an electric vehicle charger. The Power House is perfect for a large family group to get together and explore the stunning North Yorkshire coast. Note: There is a spiral staircase leading from one of the sitting rooms to the bedrooms. Electric vehicle charging point

The Neighborhood:

This former fishing village is on the Cleveland Way, and visitors will find a collection of interesting houses and a good variety of shops and a beautiful sandy beach within its boundaries. As well as being a fishing village, Skinningrove was part of the Ironstone Mining Industry and there is a museum in the area that charts the history of this industry. Saltburn is just six miles away and has retained much of its Victorian charm, including the pier, colourful Italian Gardens and the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain, well worth a visit. Skinningrove is ideally placed as a base to explore the dramatic scenery of the moors and the many coastal towns and villages in the area, making it a great holiday base.

While the power house is the ideal place for a family party haveing stayed there twice before we found this stay a little disappointing,it’s very tired upstairs furniture is very old while the beds are comfortable the bedding is very shabby and need’s replacing, the showers are poor they are either scalding or freezing not good ,the tv in the second lounge only works on one channel and the lounge was cold we didn’t use that lounge ,having said all this we had a fab weekend the restaurant down the hill is fantastic we had a lovely celebration meal there and would highly recommended it ,hot tub and sauna very good , kitchen also good and well equipped it is a good house for your celebration just needs upgrading
