TWO Amazing Log Cabins, Storybook Setting, Hot Tub, WiFi, Mountain Views Pets Ok
Enjoy your next Mountain Vacation in these Two Amazing “Turn of the Century” Log Cabins in a Storybook Setting.
The Lodge on Chestnut Hill was built in 1920 and completely remodeled in 2020. We were able to restore the original luster of the hand hewed log walls and magnificent stone fireplace. Then we added just a few modern conveniences.
The "Main Cabin" features a beautiful stone fireplace, WiFi internet, two smart TV’s and a fully stocked kitchen. The back deck has a propane grill, hot tub and outdoor seating for four with amazing mountain views. The main cabin has two bedrooms with queen size beds. There is a small bedroom area off the primary that has a twin bed perfect for a child’s bedroom. The up dated bathroom features the original vintage claw foot tub/shower.
The Whimsical “Sunflower Cabin” features a beautiful vaulted ceilings that expands throughout the cabin, WiFi Internet, two smart TV’s, a fully kitchen and a gorgeous sunroom. The walk-out deck has a propane grill and outdoor seating for four with amazing mountain views. This sweet cabin has two bedrooms. The primary bedroom has a king size bed. The 2nd bedroom offers a queen size bed. The bathroom was beautifully updated with a walk-in shower
Pets are always welcome! The back yard is completely fenced in. PLEASE NOTE: If you're bringing a pet there is a one-time $75 pet fee that covers two pets.
The property features a fenced in yard, beautiful fire pit area and gorgeous flowers gardens throughout. AND some of the best hiking trails in the Asheville area are literally steps away including Strawberry Gap Trail, Florence Preserve, Bearwallow Mountain and Wild Cat Rock Trail. The stone lined parking pad offers parking for three cars. Centrally located, the Lodge on Chestnut Hill is just 30 mins to Asheville and 15 mins to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure.
Enjoy our cool evenings in front of a cozy fireplace. Relax under the stars in your private hot tub, roast marshmallows around the fire pit, or enjoy family barbecues on the deck. Whether you’re planning a small family get-away or a large reunion the Lodge at Chestnut Hills and the Sunflower Cabin is everything you come to the mountains for and will definitely surpass your wildest expectations!

These cabins were exactly what we were looking for! We had 4 sets of couples plus 1 (my wife and I, sister and her significant other, in laws, my parents and my grandmother) and we found these cabins to fit us nicely. The area is beautiful and a pretty easy drive to Asheville!
The cabins were absolutely perfect. Everything was cozy and inviting. We loved the location and the view was so pretty. The hosts have definitely made it feel like a home.
We stayed over Thanksgiving. We had a few working and the WiFi was great. Plenty to do for the non working. Trails close by for hiking and shopping and restaurants.
one of the family's favorite stays .. the park the location having two houses to give space.. lots of laundry dish soap etc were already there.cool weather.. we plan on returning next summer.
The cabins were as advertised plenty of room for the family. The weather was a bit stormy but we still enjoyed being outside under the stars when it wasn't rainy. The cabins are far enough away from the hustle to enjoy peaceful evenings but close enough to Asheville that everything is right at your fingertips. Thanks for being such great hosts for our family getaway.
We have been using VRBO for family vacations for 10 years and this is the time we have gathered at a vrbo home for Thanksgiving. I can't recall a host(ess) as accommodating as Rebecca. So responsive, even over a family holiday. Thank you Rebecca; you were marvelous to work with.
I'm in love with these two 100+ year old cabins with the unique walkway in between them. It was absolutely perfect for our stay for our daughter's graduation. The main house definitely accommodated our wheelchair accessibility needs. Loved the fenced in area for our small dog. Can't say enough great things about this place! Thank you!
We stayed in these two cabins for our Christmas celebration as a family. It was easy to get to a beautiful location and exactly as described.
Very well appointed kitchens with practically everything you could need. Nice to have the washer dryer for wet towels from the hot tub. Water pressure was amazing and very cold!
As mentioned in other reviews the cabin needs a good dusting and we had a little trouble with the dishwasher getting things clean. But neither was a dealbreaker.
Nice fenced in yard for the dogs which was a huge bonus.
This 100 year old cabin was very charming. It had all the modern amenities you needed while retaining the uniqueness of a old cabin. We had 6 adults, 2 kids, and an infant and enjoyed having the two cabins close together. The hot tub was a nice amenity and the view was great from the porch! We spent one night in the hot tub stargazing. The Roku TVs and WiFi worked well in the main cabin. It was hard to get WiFi in the flower cabin. Most of the beds were very comfortable, but the twin in the main cabin was very squeaky.
It’s about 30 minutes from downtown Asheville. There are hiking trails nearby. We also enjoyed going to Chimney Rock one day which is about 15 min away.
My only critique is that it could have been a little cleaner- very dusty ceiling fans and cobwebs in the corners of rooms, but overall it was fairly clean.
What a cute little cabin. We travel with another couple once a year and these two cabins were great for allowing each couple to have their own space. We lounged in the sun room of one cabin, played cards in the dining room of the other, cooked a little in both and explored the beautiful grounds. It advertises as room for 9, but that would be too many to be comfortable. I might add a few young kids to our entourage, but four adults were enough. If traveling with children, the outdoors are great, but I would not consider it a kid friendly place. The historical items were amazing and just the kind of thing I love, but the claw-foot tub is awkward and could cause issues for someone with an injury (me) or mobility issues. The shower curtain was bulky and excessive. It hid the safety bar while also reducing the area for showering. I don't like to touch a curtain while bathing and it was pretty much unavoidable. Except for the one bathroom, it was sufficient for the four of us and our annual get away.
Cozy Rental - Great Setup for Gathering and Alone Time
Charming cabins. Plenty of room for everyone. However the housekeeping between guests was questionable (it was a really dusty and lots of cobwebs in high places).
Great to have separate living spaces with these two cabins located side by side to give a bit of privacy and still be able to connect. Loved the deck and the hot tub and easy drives to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Hendersonville and Asheville.
Great location for the price. 20 minutes to asheville and 20 minutes to Henderson. Quiet street with friendly neighbors that live there. Host very helpful and responsive to questions... easy to check in and out. Felt like we had plenty of room to spread out. 9 of us shared both cabins. Nice to have 2 kitchens... outside decks were nice to sit on.
Cell service and wifi a little shoddy but definitely no fault of anyone's, it is just due to location.
Overall, we had a great stay.
What a lovely vacation we had in Gerton, North Carolina last week! We had the loveliest cabins. The layout of the main cabin and suite cabin was perfect for a mom and her 5 twenty something children who like to hang out together, but enjoy some privacy as well. Everything was updated very well for these beautiful 100 year old cabins with what looked like plenty of historic charm with the log walls and stone fireplaces. We had all the modern conveniences while enjoying the historical touches in decor. It truly felt like we were transported in time to more simple mountain living, yet had everything we could possibly need for our 21st century lives. We all enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit at night staring at the gorgeous starry sky that we can’t see in the city. The mountains felt close enough to touch and it was a pleasure to sit on the front porch(complete with the screen door of my childhood) in the morning and drink my coffee while the young adults slept. I have been using vacation rentals for decades and this kitchen had everything I needed and more to fix my brood lovely meals when we weren’t exploring the city or smaller towns around the cabin. It was a short drive into Asheville where we found many tasty cafes and loads of art stores and art malls. We are an art, music and literature family, so this was really fun. We all enjoyed Lake Lure and the mountain village of Chimney Rock we drove through to get to Lake Lure. You can even just pull over and splash in a mountain stream! I think what our family enjoyed the most is hanging at the cabins in the evening and renewing bonds and strengthening them. COVID took our youngest in 2021 around this week and we just wanted to honor him by continuing to live the best lives we could. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabins with us. We have memories that will strengthen us as we continue to heal.
Blessings,
The Jackson Family
Charming, rustic and authentic North Carolina feel to this property. The two cabins were ideal for a long weekend away with my sisters and female cousins. However, the claw foot tub looks nice but wasn’t very practical and all the bedrooms needed some hooks for hanging up towels, bags, bathing suits, etc. Using the pull-out sofa bed in the main living area would have been impossible, so two people had to share a queen bed. The sofa bed and the twin bed weren’t real options for sleeping comfortably… the twin bed in the room with the swinging doors was very squeaky and the unlucky person who had that room didn’t sleep very well at all. Good location, quiet and within 30 minutes of all our planned activities: lake Lure, Chimney Rock, hiking on nearby trails, Asheville shopping, dining and the Biltmore. We especially enjoyed the main cabin fireplace in the evenings and the sun porch in the sunflower cabin for our morning coffee. It was the brightest room of the property. It was very nice to have a washer and dryer to use after a long day of hiking. Overall it was a very nice place. Thank you!
Great location near Chimney Rock and quick drive to Asheville. Cabins are comfortable and well appointed. Nice to have two cabins to spread out and have privacy when you need a break from the gang.
My family and I had an amazing vacation together at the two cabins. The view was incredible. The cabins were just perfect for all of us. So clean, well stocked. and close to everything we wanted to do. It was amazing!!Beautiful place!
