The houseboat is moored along one of Amsterdam’s historic canals in the heart of the city. This area is known for its calm atmosphere while still being very central. The ship is located at Oudeschans no. 5P in the historic center. Through a footbridge you can enter the deck and acces the private entrance of the suite.
Please bear in mind that the gangway is also used by the neighbors of the adjacent ship, whose route to their vessel runs across the foredeck. The suite itself, however, has a private entrance door, and all areas within the suite are private. The terrace on the foredeck is also exclusively for our Deckhouse Suite guests.
During your stay, I'm happy to be available. Don't hesitate to contact me! Our houseboat has multiple private areas. You’ll be staying in the beautiful suite shown in the photos, which is your private space during the stay. Other parts of the boat are not included.
To make your stay even more memorable, guests can enjoy the free use of our two canoes at no extra cost. Explore the surrounding waters at your own pace and experience the beauty of the area from a unique perspective.
To reinforce the quay alongside the houseboat, the municipality has installed a steel structure. Our wide gangways make boarding the houseboat comfortable and easy.

Was able to store luggage before check in time although host did not answer phone when I called before as agreed. Check in was smooth later. Shops and restaurants are nearby(less than 10 min walking). I would recommend putting in a dehumidifier since the boat was humid and made it feel cooler than it was. Bathroom with sink is awkward since sink is 1/2 way under an overhang of the deck so difficult to brush teeth and was face without getting water all over the floor. Would recommend installing a shower curtain. Enjoyed all the sitting areas. They are the highlight of this boat.

About the host
Your host
Hi, I'm Rohen — a born-and-raised Amsterdammer with a deep love for this city's energy, history, and free spirit. I study Nutrition & Dietetics at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which means I care about people's wellbeing in everything I do — including how I host.
Over the past few years, I've poured my heart (and a lot of elbow grease) into transforming this historic houseboat into the boutique gem it is today. Every detail — from the sauna to the luxury linens — was chosen with care. Hosting isn't just a side project for me; it's an extension of who I am. I love sharing my city with curious, open-minded travellers and making sure your stay feels special, seamless and genuinely Amsterdams.
My co-hosts Albert and Gerben are equally dedicated, so you'll always have someone on hand if you need anything. We respond fast and we care — that's a promise.
The Oudeschans is, in my eyes, one of Amsterdam's best-kept secrets — and I get to wake up here every morning. This canal sits right at the crossroads of the old city: historic warehouses and houseboats line the water, and the iconic Montelbaanstoren tower stands just around the corner like a postcard come to life. What I love most is the balance. You're steps away from Nieuwmarkt, the buzzing Zeedijk, Chinatown, the Waterlooplein flea market, and a maze of boutique shops and hidden courtyards — yet the canal itself feels peaceful and unhurried. You can sit on the deck with a coffee and watch the city go by at its own pace. That contrast — vibrant but serene, central but calm — is exactly what makes Amsterdam so special to me, and exactly why I live here.
Why they chose this property
