About this property

2 Bed in Lorton (oc-s42454)

Property sleeps 4 + 2

Surround yourself in rolling green fells at this picture-perfect cottage in the idyllic Vale of Lorton – just 6 miles outside Keswick. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms, it’s perfect for larger families or groups of friends in search of a dreamy country retreat to call home while they discover the untamed beauty of the Lake District together. Situated 1 mile from Whinlatter tourist information centre where you can enjoy the cafe, restaurant, children's play area, tree houses and biking trails etc. Set off for Cockermouth (6.5 miles) to explore the childhood home of the poet William Wordsworth, browse the local art galleries, and treat yourself to something sweet in a quaint tearoom. Or make your way to Keswick (6 miles), go axe-throwing at Keswick Adventures and catch a show at the Theatre by the Lake. If you have the kids with you, they can let off a little steam at the Go Ape Treetop Adventure in Whinlatter Forest (3.5 miles). The views from there across to Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater and Keswick are unrivalled.

Step inside your country cottage and store all your outdoor gear in the spacious porch. Make your way to the heart of the home – a stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that has been designed with socialising in mind. Cook up a storm in the kitchen area and share dinner at the stylish dining table. Afterwards, stretch out in front of the wood burner in the lounge area. The second lounge has a pull out sofa bed if necessary. When it’s time for bed, from the rear of the cottage, head up the stairs to the first floor, where you’ll find two doubles. A smart family bathroom with a bath and shower on the first floor completes the layout.

Step through the conservatory doors and discover a peaceful garden with a patio. It’s a lovely spot for al fresco dining, and the country views are breathtaking.
