Imagine your family reunion or time with good friends in this well-appointed farmhouse located on 53 acres of manicured meadows and grassy expanses nestled in a secluded valley. The1860's Farmhouse was fully updated in 2014. The property hosts rolling hills with barns, two ponds (one for swimming, one for fishing), a stream, woods and meadows, with decks, a gazebo and a summer kitchen with outdoor fireplace. The gazebo between the two ponds has an endless cool breeze, making it an ideal location for a summer BBQ with a grassy lawn for field games on one side and the swimming pond entrance on the other. The large pond is stocked with bass, blue gills, catfish, and yellow perch. The main barn's courtyard is perfectly flat and ideal for lawn games like croquet. There is a picturesque swing under the large maple tree that would fulfill most children's dreams. Don't forget to take an evening soak in the the hot tub with the most amazing view of the stars.

Solbakken is located 12 miles south of York, PA, and 45 miles north of Baltimore, MD.

Nearby attractions include a selection of micro-breweries and vineyards, Antique shopping, Gettysburg, Lancaster, a large Amish Market with handcrafted items, fresh produce and homemade food. In the summer, several firemen's carnivals are found in nearby towns, and you can pick your own cherries, and in the fall you can find apple and pumpkin picking.

Christmas On the Farm

Fairytale Farmhouse

This property is one of a kind. It has everything you could want for a long weekend away, or even an extended stay, in the countryside. You immediately feel the warmth and history of this home from the moment you step foot into the kitchen / living area. From there, it only gets better. The views are spectacular and everything is so well maintained & loved. There are plenty of rooms and bathrooms, and essentially unlimited outdoor space for whatever activity you could imagine. Instant memories were made during our stay with 8 friends. Lauren was a fantastic host - very responsive, detailed, and thoughtful.

Spacious and tasteful

This place has it all! In both the grounds and house, there is a generosity of space, and yet it feels cozy and approachable. The landscaping—including two ponds—makes the area seem private, and yet we got tired exploring! The home has a capacity to hold a crowd, but we gathered comfortably in the living and dining areas. This gem in the PA countryside is one that I hope to return to again and again. Plus the homeowner made check in and arrangements easy.

Daughter's wedding weekend

We stayed here with extended family for 4 days for my daughter's wedding, which was held in a nearby venue. We had the post-wedding brunch on the property on Sunday, and the setting was absolutely perfect! The home is beautiful, impeccably maintained, and has all the comforts you may need. The grounds are peaceful and also impeccably maintained. Lauren was extremely responsive to any communication, and extremely gracious. I can't say enough about Solbakken Farm. We hope to visit again so that we can enjoy it more thoroughly!

Beautiful home and property!

This is an awesome home and grounds. Plenty of room for a large family or group. We had a family reunion and the large dining table and fully equipped kitchen could not have been better. Our two grandchildren, age 6 and 3, loved exploring the gorgeous grounds – beautiful flowers and so many butterflies! The 6 year old dipped his feet in the cool brook. Check in and out was a breeze. Lauren, the owner, and the groundskeeper, Butch, could not have been more helpful. Our five day stay was wonderful. Thank you.

Just the Absolute Best

We had such an amazing time during our stay. It's absolutely a dream location -- with gorgeous views, so many gardens and trees and birds and flowers and meadows, not to mention the two (!) ponds. Our kids loved exploring and fishing and swimming and running and going in the boat. And we loved the gazebo and outdoor kitchen (s'mores!) and doing our own roaming too. And then inside is just as nice. The kitchen has everything. We cooked so many lovely meals together. There are huge, modern bathrooms for each bedroom. And tons of games and puzzles and movies and places to sit and stare outside. We also loved using the hot tub at night. We could see the stars on two of the nights. Lauren has truly thought of everything. We can't wait to go back... and stay even longer. It was the kind of place that's an escape but feels like coming home, all at the same time.

Stewartstown Farmhouse

10/10 on this gem of an VRBO. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and just relax this is it. The pictures on the site just don’t capture the beauty of this gem. The big porch on the east side of the house is absolutely wonderful for sitting while enjoying a morning cup of coffee while watching the sun rise above the rolling hills. In the evening you can again enjoy the porch without burning up in the hot afternoon heat. The ponds are stocked with fish so you can enjoy time to yourself in the quiet or take your children or grandchildren and teach them how to catch a fish or two. The inside of the property has plenty of room with each bedroom having its own bathroom plus a half bath in the common area. Kitchen has plenty of dishes, cups, cooking utensils, etc. There is a wood fireplace in the kitchen with wood seasoned and stocked just outside. A fire pit outside that also wood ready to be used and enjoyed outside while picking out the stars and constellations in the dark night sky. The host, Lauren, kept in touch and answered my questions immediately when I had them. You’d be hard pressed to find a place with this much beautiful property and privacy as this one. Don’t forget the benches and trails throughout the property as well. Great place to stay and best hosts.

Wonderful place for get together

Wonderful property for our extended family vacation. Highlights include en suite bathrooms in every bedroom, kitchen appointed for cooks, and fantastic outdoor space. We enjoyed the swimming pond and row boat, nice places for outdoor fires, variety of short walks, and the kids enjoyed the "maze" mowed in some tall grass. We're already talking about coming again in the future.

Amazing, simply amazing

This is my family’s third year at this property and as long as we’re able we will keep coming back every year. The property is beautiful and serene. I’ve sat on the back deck for hours just looking out. Adults and kids enjoy the long walks, and the awesome swimming pond, streams. The house is comfortable, and having a bathroom for every bedroom is the absolute best. The owner is so nice, and accommodating. The caretaker, Butch is delightful to talk to. There’s no where I’d rather stay on vacation. Next up is to find time to go in the winter for a nice snowy trip.

Spectacular home with breathtaking grounds! Perfect place to get away from everything and relax and enjoy family. The most well equipped place I have ever stayed. They have thought of everything! We so enjoyed your home, the warmth and love was very present. We have an adult disabled daughter that uses a power wheelchair and we were so happy to be able to travel with this piece of equipment for her. Fantastic country retreat

We had a great time visiting Solbakken with our family. Lauren has taken great care to make the house comfortable for families with children, which we discovered as soon as we arrived. We had just finished an 8 hour car drive from the Boston area, so when we arrived at the property the kids immediately jumped out and went exploring. They found the two ponds, hiking trails, a bell they enjoyed ringing, and a bunch of other places to hideout and have “sister meetings”. For the adults, we enjoyed relaxing on the deck, watching the deer and the dew in the morning. There was plenty of space for all of us (8 people). The stay was relaxing and exactly what we were looking for, to get away from the city for a while and unwind. Thanks Lauren!

Perfet place for a Wedding weekend

This property is exactly what it appears in the photos and description....AMAZING. Our son got married at a nearby venue and this place was perfect for the family to stay and gather. I wish we would have a few more days to explore the grounds more. The house is decorated beautifully and has enough space indoors and outdoors to allow for people to gather comfortably. Perfect getaway for a multi-generational family gathering

Goodness, a new bar has been set after staying a this wonderful, wonderful home and enjoying Lauren's hospitality. Our small gathering included kids from 1.5 to 8, parents and grandparents, and the house and property were perfect to keep us all entertained and well-rested. The setting is beautiful, with 3x daily adventures to the pond for fishing, morning tea on the swing, and evening time cocktail hour on the patio. Functionally, the house is so easy for large group, from the spacious kitchen and seating area, to the five bedrooms with attached bathrooms. And, while you feel like you are out in the country, in fact, grocery stores are only 10 min away. The family wanted a few outings, so we adventured to Gettysburg (about 1 hour drive) and Dutch Wonderful (about 45 min drive). A perfect holiday, all of us can't wait to return. Thank you so much, Lauren, for sharing your home with us.

Fun summer vacation

2 families and granddaddy joining together for 1-week summer vacation. Property centrally located for visits to Lancaster, Hershey, Baltimore And Gettysburg. Liked that each bedroom had own beautiful bathroom. Kitchen well stocked though we used outdoor kitchen more. Best part was the outdoors. Swimming lake was nice and clean. Admired the grounds with manicured lawn, gorgeous flowers , bee hive, and stream. Spent Saturday evening across the street at the Winery which was charming with drinks and music. We loved our visit. Host was responsive and available for questions

Wedding at Wyndridge Farms and Family Reunion

Beautiful home. Exceptional property. Comfortable. Quaint, but modern. Lauren and her team of caretakers make the rental a dream. My 2,3,4 and 5 yo all swam easily in the pond, looked for snakes, toads, butterflies and ate blackberries on the bushes by the perimeter. We grilled in the outdoor kitchen, had s’mores and even took a dip in the hot tub. We got dressed up, attended the wedding and then relaxed at Solbakken with the family. Thank you Lauren!

Wedding Weekend Redo

The house is ideal for a relaxing getaway and is perfect for families. There is a large stocked kitchen, and comfy bedrooms with their own baths. The grounds are just gorgeous with lots of room to roam. I can't say enough nice things about Lauren and how welcoming she is!

2nd Trip Even Better Than The First

My family and I stayed here in 2020 in an effort to find a covid friendly summer vacation. We were surprised with one of the most memorable trips of our life and were eager for a 2nd (longer) stay. We were blessed with an even better more memorable trip this year. For a retreat away from the hustle and bustle with aesthetic beauty at every turn and a beautifully restored and cared for farm house this is the place. We explored more, went to the Amish marked, used the outdoor fireplace, sipped wine in the gazebo by the lake, took out the row boat and spent 5 wonderful days bonding and relaxing. Thank You!!

Th9e rave reviews of this property are not exaggerating! The house is charming and comfortable, and the setting is peaceful and idyllic. The small pond was a bit hit with all ages (22 months-old baby to grandparents), as was picking blueberries from the bBushbp and deck easily accommodated all nine of us. The en-suite bathrooms were an unexpected luxury. Communication with the owner, prior to and during our visit, was excellent; on the day of our arrival she alerted me to something that might need attention, and then she promptly took care uwsheaof it. My family has owned this farm for 30 years. Solbakken is Danish for "sunny slope" and the farm is named after my late husband's parent's estate in Denmark. We have loved gardening, swimming, hiking, and entertaining here and hope that your family and friends will also enjoy Solbakken.

We fell in love with the rolling hills of Southern York County. Our slopes mean that farmers contour their crops around the hillsides, making the farms beautiful to see as you ride around the small country roads.

Solbakken is a place to get away from your busy life -- enjoy leisurely rocking in a hammock under the birch trees between the ponds; enjoy watching deer come to feed in the field; enjoy visiting the neighborhood winery and having a glass of wine on the deck; enjoy swimming in the pond or fishing in the pond or wading in the stream, or just sit and listen to the birds or watch the stars from the hot tub.
