After resting at the tunnel, you can conyinue your hike to the top of the rim. There you will will a historical marker that describes the battle of Big Dry Wash where 16 to 27 warriors were killed. It was a beautiful cabin with amazing land! Our friend who makes ponds and waterfalls was completely fascinated with your water feature. In fact, he said he could fix all of the leaks for you! Treehouse was adorable! Love where the fire pit was located. We just don’t know how the cleaning works in between people who stayed there because it didn’t look like it was cleaned. I don’t know if you guys have a cleaning crew that comes in between, but if you do, I don’t think they came before we got there. I mentioned us and another adult couple would be staying there but one of the queen rooms didn’t even have any sheets and blankets already made up on the bed. I felt bad because that was the room our friends were staying in. The refrigerator and oven were really dirty on the inside. There were personal items in the bathroom drawers like brushes and stuff that had hair all over them. There were several chewed straws in the bedroom nightstand drawer (the room with the TV), as well as in the living room console table drawer. There was wet linen left in the washing machine. The microwave has two cracks at the bottom. Probably not safe. Beautiful place though. Comfortable beds. Oh, we didn’t find the guest book to write in. Thank you!!!
Cozy fire!
Awesome water feature!
Fun for adults too!
Spiral staircase. My favorite!

Perfect family vacation

My family had such a good time at this cabin. They had everything you need it for a fun family getaway, including wood for a fire and Marshmello holders to make s’mores. They also had a list of places to go hiking, and we found a fun little hike and swimming area, the children really enjoyed the treehouse and lookout area

Great Family Retreat

This was the perfect location for our family trip. The cabin was super comfortable and the kids all lamented that we couldn't stay longer. Our night at the fire pit included a visit from some elk! The kids had a blast playing all over the property.

This property provided tons of adventurous exploring for the kids. The cliff edge and water feature were especially impressive. We had everything we needed for comfortable rest and meal preparation. We also enjoyed an outing to the near by river to cool off in the chilly water.

Fantastic Home

My husband and two daughters had the best time on our vacation. The home was beautiful and well furnished. Tons of exploring and fun things to do just on the property. Within 5 minutes of arriving, we were greeted by an Elk that was roaming the property and grazing. This is the place you want to stay when in this area. We were close to a lot of exploring and hiking. We would defiantly stay here again. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home - - it just made our vacation great!

Awesome Family Vacation Home

Unique log cabin with high ceilings. Incredible large loft for kids with bathroom. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, large great room with piano and dining table. Loved the huge wrap around porch. The starry sky at night and hammock was moms favored spot. Kids loved the trampoline and treehouse. Yard was super fun for kids lots for them to do. We hiked straight to the water wheel and went swimming and cliff diving - this was everyones favorite part of the trip. We will definitely bring the family back again for weekend getaways.

Amazing experience

The cabin is spectacular and the amenities amazing. The kids had so much fun in the trampoline, in the tree house, and playing with the water feature. We had a herd of elk show up just off the porch several evenings and got to enjoy Water Wheel, Tonto Natural Bridge, and several other hikes and sights in the area. Caught crawdads for our dinner two nights and made a couple side trips up to Pine and Strawberry for empanadas and shopping. The neighbors were wonderful people as well and even have us some fresh eggs from their chicken coop. What a great place to spend the hottest week of the year!

Easter weekend

The stay and the house was great. There was a lot more houses around than we expected and the rooster behind the house gave us a wake up call at 4:25 am. However, it wasn't a big deal. The family had an awesome time and the house had all the amenities we needed. It was so nice that they even supplied firewood, because we forgot to bring it. The neighbors were great and showed us how to get down to the river. There were elk everywhere. Overall, it was a great time and it was perfect for what we needed. I would recommend it for anyone with kids.

Perfect winter cabin retreat!

There was so much to do at this adventurous cabin! My teens and kids loved the ping pong, dart board, foosball, large TV, tree house, crow's nest, trampoline and walking paths all on the property. We found a path from the street behind the house to the creek to be able to enjoy the sound of the rushing water more. There were plenty of stone benches and a hammock to soak in the sun and enjoy the view or read a book. The cabin fit our family of 8 well and the kitchen was well equipped and the appliances, including the laundry was easy to use. There were plenty of space heaters that we used the first night as we warmed up the home. A pellet stove and in-wall radiators were all that were needed the rest of the time. We enjoyed the views, quiet change of pace and access to Payson and Waterwheel hiking trail. Extra blankets and towels were a bonus so that everyone felt comfortable.

cleanliness and safety are important

We visit the property on 8/26/2022.The property ground are good. But as the review from (4th of July in whispering pines) in July 2022 stated the cabin was very dirty and need a deep cleaning. The door handle in the downstairs restroom and other handle thru out the cabin came off which was dangerous for my family. The coffee pot was dirty, the sheets had stains on them, and the showers were dirty who ever clean this cabin does not do a good job. The whole place is just dirty and the outside tree house. I feel disappointed because the Hosts repones to this concern back on July 9,2022 that he would repaired/replace the problem, but he didn't

Breaks my heart.

We booked this cabin as it was our first family easter together and wanted to make unforgettable memories. Well that is for sure was made. As we walked in the cabin we came into a smell threw out the cabin and discovered moldy rags and towels in a hamper in the laundry room. As I looked around this cabin wasn't cleaned at all prior to our arrival. Blood stains on comforter and on rugs that they had hanging on the balcony. Floors and counter sticky and gross. You couldn't walk around bare footed due to the amount of dirt and stickiness on the floors Dishes and Utensils not cleaned. If we wanted to use them we had to wash them first. We brought dinners to cook, but the stove and oven so dirty we didn't want to use them and had to spend money to eat out instead. Outside door knob was held up with electrical tape and a screw that was to long. Swim shorts on top of a ceiling fan. Towels not clean. Showers had hair and just all disgusting. most fire detectors were removed. I had to wash all the bedding before sleeping in them as there was blood on the bedding. Memories were made but not the kind I or my family wanted. Would of been better staying in a hotel. We did reach out to vrbo and still waiting on a response. Yes we took pictures and video to back up these statements.

The cabin was cozy and gave us the total cabin experience we were wanting for our family. The neighbors were friendly and welcoming. The kids loved the grounds with the swing, trampoline, tree house and of course making smores. The kitchen offered what we needed for our stay. We really enjoyed the nearby activities offering a craft fair, pumpkin carving, bon fires, and more! CANT WAIT TO RETURN!

Loved it! It felt like home by the time we left. It's spacious, beautiful western artwork, comfortable beds, great deck, fun backyard with the water feature. It was thoughtfully stocked with all the supplies we needed. In the the kitchen we had enough pots and pans to cook most of our meals there. We stayed a month with our pet - think he actually had a great time too. The laundry room and washer/dryer were a big plus. Thank you Greg! Advice - if you have one bring your national forest pass for use at the Crossings and Water Wheel.
