There are three more bedrooms, including an additional master bedroom, all facing the ocean. The spacious decks are ideal for watching dolphins or for curling up with a good book. The elevator will help you get groceries or kids upstairs with ease. Jump in the pool if the ocean is a little rough, or step inside to the convenient half bath and spacious game room with pool table, foosball, a flat screen TV, and wet bar with mini fridge. Great week in Rodanthe

We had a great week-great location, awesome house. Wonderful for a couple families. Elevator not accessible so it was a bummer to haul everything up the stairs but great opportunity to get extra exercise. Will definitely share as a great experience and return if possible.

Our family had a wonderful time in the Outer Banks & enjoyed being close to the beach and decently close to shops. We’re very thankful we could still come after Hurricane Erin since many people worked hard to make that possible, even though we lost a day.That said, the home’s condition was not what we expected from the VRBO images, and none of the issues were disclosed. There were holes in walls, stained/torn carpets, rusted bunk beds, scratches, dusty areas, water-damaged floors, & nails sticking out. The hot tub leaked when in use. Window units, though likely added for cooling, were taped in w/ masking tape, blocked balcony access in some rooms, & gave the home a run-down look. (Surf or Sound offered to remove them, but we declined since they were the least of the problems.) We also purchased cleaning supplies ourselves—though Surf or Sound did offer to send cleaners, we preferred not to have people in/out during our stay.We understand beachfront homes may have wear, but guests pay fees meant to cover damages & upkeep. For the price, we expected safer conditions & a listing that more accurately reflected the property.
This wasn’t the only wall that looked this way. The ceilings and walls looked like this in some spots in almost every room.

This was one of the many holes left ALL OVER the house.
All of the carpets were stained, this is just the only picture I had gotten.

Just okay

The house is great in that its on the beach. However, the house is incredibly outdated. The carpets were filthy, and the furniture smelled. We realize this is typical of properties that have high use but we have stayed in different areas for the last 7 years and havent had issues with cleanliness or smells. There was some water damage in one of the bathrooms in the second level and there was just a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom, which showed mold. There were no pictures of the bathrooms in the second floor i assume because of the issue and the fact that they were completely outdated. Lastly, the beds where incredibly uncomfortable. The only room that was comfortable was the master, which had a wonderful bed and bathroom. My recommendation to the properly owner and management company is to make some simple but necessary updates. Get new carpet, mattresses, and curtains. And please fix that hole/mold in the bathroom before the next renter gets sick.
