Located halfway between the town of Taos and the Taos Ski Valley, our adobe 'home-away-from-home' is private YET close to everything you may want to do while in the Taos area... IF you feel like leaving. (15 minutes to town and 20-25 minutes to TSV to ski.) We currently live in this, our home, and are building two new houses. We plan on putting this property up for sale Spring of 2026. This is available for three-five month rental for a family of two-five people OR up to three roommates. There are just three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Maximum of three cars allowed at this rental. No parties allowed.

We are convinced you will love our home as much as we do and not care to leave the premises often, yet you could choose to do so with ease. Our hot tub, den-bar area, art studio, and game/movie and book library will provide lots of entertainment. Sit by one of the fireplaces to dream stories, tell stories or write stories.

Wood-beamed ceilings, wood and saltillo tiles throughout add to the warmth and tenderness of Casa de Cuentos. There is a separate recreation room area with additional living room and Kiva if one needs space from others while visiting. Our kitchen has just been remodeled and new pictures with knotty alder cabinets and granite countertops will be posted soon. Hallway bathroom is currently undergoing a partial remodel, also.

CASA de Cuentos: The main house has 3 bedrooms (a KING bed in master and a King bed in the den bedroom and a single bed in the hallway bedroom--there is a living area upstairs with 360 views. There are 2 bathrooms (one with a large shower and the master bathroom has a deep, soaking tub with handheld shower attachment) and a HUGE den with a BAR and beer fridge. There are four living areas and three bedrooms : King(2) and twin (1). You have fabulous views of the mountains out the north-side: large windows frame the mountains perfectly and let them into the living/dining area. To the south - you have expansive views of the valley and hot air balloons can be viewed floating eye-level or below in the distance. Daytime: Taos-turquoise blue skies during the day and STARS in the night-sky are so close you can touch them while sitting in the hot tub in the courtyard. (I just got out of the hot tub and I need to report there are more stars here than I ever knew existed...it is 'plum' full of stars--as my Grandma used to say.)

The views from the second-story art-studio-living-area are THEE best in Taos--360 degrees of turquoise skies and mountains and sunrises and sunsets. Watch the moon rise, watch the sun rise and sun set..from the art studio-heaven! (Dave designed this 1000-square foot addition and has done all of the remodeling.)

Pinons and sagebrush are the native plants that blanket the grounds of Casa de Cuentos and their sweet smells are all of the aromatherapy you will need while at this tranquil adobe. Two outdoor living areas: a deck with a hot tub in N.E. courtyard with new flagstone patio with a built-in firepit facing the mountains and a new patio on the South-side facing the valley. The NorthEast courtyard has a huge fenced in area (fence is 6-ft. tall) for one dog’s pleasure and well-being. We will consider two well - behaved dogs. Please ask. The Northwest yard (where we parked our camper) also has it's own patio and a huge fenced in area for pets and play.

Casa de Cuentos - the perfect place for a few people to have solitude and/or for a small family.

We have a fabulous fenced in courtyard for a dog. Pet fee for one dog for a long stay: $350. We may accept two well-behaved dogs. Please contact us before booking to ask. We would need to know breed ahead of rental agreement.

Furnishings-decorations may be a bit different than the pictures; alas, they will be clean, attractive and cozy.

The home is cozy and warm -- very relaxing and peaceful, comfortably furnished and well maintained. Our family could not have been made to feel more at home. The views from the living room and dining room windows are spectacular. The location is secluded but also convenient to both town and the ski valley. We will absolutely stay here again.

We live in a neighborhood with a dead-end dirt-graveled shared easement-driveway. Two other neighbors share our long, dirt driveway; and, our house is very private with lots of trees, open space and a tall, privacy fence. 10 MPH is max. speed on our driveway. Exterior camera on Driveway-Parking area. We provide floors and bathroom cleaning every two weeks. We provide hot tub maintenance and cleaning, as well, every few days. Dave will pick up your trash from the garage once a week and take it to the dump.

Our property also houses a casita that is a short-term rental--which we will be taking care of while you rent this home...the "big" house. We will be moving into the NEW casita that Dave is currently finishing building. From there, he will start our new BIG house...after we sell this property next summer. Casita Ave Maria is a totally separate property across the driveway...with its own patio, hot tub and parking area that cannot be seen from the "big" house. Both houses have lots of privacy.
