About this property

Pets Welcome. Private. Right on the Lake.

Guests tell me the photos don't do the cottage and property justice. Read our reviews. Very private. Clean. Lots of space. Drive down to the beach. The East side of Seneca Lake has lots of sun and beautiful sunsets. 100 foot dock. New windows, doors and mini-split ac/heat. Ten miles from Geneva for shopping, movies, and food. Two Five Star restaurants within 15 miles. Each year we renovate another part of our little cottage and many of our guests and their pets return every year. One bedroom with two double beds and a large living room with one pull out couch can sleep 4. Cottage is 880 square feet so best for 2-4 people. Minimum stay is 3 nights except July and August when we only rent by the week (Saturday 3 pm to Saturday 10 am). Cozy but may be too small for anyone 6 foot 2 or over. New kitchen appliances, cupboards, air conditioning, and microwave. We added a pellet stove for visits in the early spring or late fall for wine tours, an aluminum boat for fishing, a canoe and 2 kayaks for sunsets on the lake. For further information, call or e-mail me. It is a lovely place to relax.

Enjoy the quiet - pets welcome. Guests and their pets return every year. One of the few places with no stairs to the lake. Everyone enjoys swimming in the lake, laying on the dock, visiting the wineries (we have three within 7 miles and a brewery) and local restaurants. Others have ventured to Ithaca, Rochester, and Canandaigua to visit museums, gourmet restaurants, and historic sites. The bedroom is above the lake so when you wake up in the morning, you can see right onto the lake. The kitchen and dining area are on the bottom floor and look right onto the water. There are many places to walk including a two mile hike up to Sampson State Park.

If you need to get away from the stress of your life, this is the place.

Enjoy the Lake: This is NOT for you IF you want a high energy vacation. See the herons land on the dock each evening and the ducklings come by each morning. The waves will rock you to sleep. Swim and kayak during the day. Take out the rowboat to fish. Have beach fires at night and visit our many wonderful wineries, breweries, and restaurants nearby. WIFI but no cable TV (just DVD movies). We suggest you relax and get away. This is truly the country and as our friend Simon says, "They aren't building any more lakes."

Perfect

Spotless inside, delightful outside. You'll need to rent a houseboat to stay closer to the water. Cindy is an ideal host and will help you in any way to need. The cottage is exactly as advertised and our stay could not have been better.

Lake side relaxation

Truly Wonderful host ! Cindy was always available to answer questions and guide us for places to explore. Her home provided all the comforts needed for our stay. Having the Lake view right outside was wonderful! Our puppy being able to come along was also critically important to us. Wonderful relaxing stay!

What a great vacation!

We had a wonderful vacation here. It’s a large, quiet beautiful piece property with a very comfortable cottage. No stairs to the cottage and water was an added plus. The amenities were perfect for our stay. Sunsets, beautiful skies, swimming, boating… couldn’t ask for any thing more! Thank you to our wonderful host, Cindy!

Paradise

A couple days at Cindy’s cottage was exactly what we needed. We relaxed on the dock, went out in the kayaks, enjoyed the beautiful sunset, and recharged our batteries. The cottage was pristine and we would love to go back again if possible.

Finger Lakes

We had a great time at the cottage. Check-in was easy. Cindy was a great host and had everything at the cottage that we needed. We loved looking through the dog books of the previous visitors. We enjoyed having a fire by the lake at night and coffee in the morning. It was a perfect for us and our dog.

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

This place was amazing! It really had everything that you could possibly need and Cindy was kind and informative. The location was perfect too, close to several wineries and a short 20 minute drive to Geneva! It was also great that we could bring our cat with us and even he enjoyed the outside deck/patio area (and the stair railing to the bedroom). Our only problem was we wish we didn’t have to leave so soon!

Lake Fun!

Perfect location! Stunning views from this charming cottage on the lake. And I mean ON the lake! Water is mere steps away, our pups loved swimming and the privacy to roam free. A shaded area for hot days, and a beautiful dock to enjoy the sunset. Floatation, kayaks, canoe all readily available. Cottage is absolutely spotless and very well taken care of. Host is nearby if needed, very kind and welcoming. Had a great stay, will definitely be back!

Anniversary Getaway

Wonderful stay at Cindy’s place! Amazing location right on Seneca Lake. Home has just enough space for ourselves and our two pups who thoroughly enjoyed their time on the lake. Pictures truly don’t do justice for Cindy’s rental. Short drive to a few local breweries and Sampson State Park. But just as easy to spend your whole visit sitting on the dock admiring the view. Very clean and owner is very responsive and takes pride in her rental. Would definitely love to return! Thank you for sharing this special place!

Third time is the charm!

This was our third visit to Cindy's lovely oasis on the lake! And we've already booked for next year. As all other reviewers say, Cindy's place is perfect, right on the lake with everything you could possibly need for a perfect week vacation on the lake. There are wineries nearby, 15 minutes to great dining options in Geneva, and plenty to do on Cindy's own dock with kayaks, canoes, fishing. Your possibilities are endless AND you get to bring your furry friends! I can't say enough about this property (which is why she's booked so far in advance). Don't hesitate or you'll miss out on the best vacation!

Romulus relaxes

Cool place, well equipped, clean with a nice dock and fire pit. Furniture is all sturdy and clean. When you sleep in the upstairs bedroom, it feels like you’re on a cruise ship because all you can see out the window is the water, you can’t see the ground unless you put your face against the glass and look straight down. Of course you can crack the window any time and hear the water lapping onto the shore, or just enjoy the plethora of birds that make the Cayuga lake shore their home. The water is maybe 6 ft. deep at docks end with weeds on the bottom, But the water is crystal clear. Not bad for swimming/canoeing/fishing. Canoe kayak and rowboat are there for your enjoyment.

A piece of heaven on Earth for you and your pets

Cindy is a wonderful host, and the home is organized perfectly for visitors. EVERYTHING you might need is available and easy to find. She has even included towels for the dogs after swimming (there are linens and towels for humans too!) Couches are freshly covered for people and dogs to relax on together. Yet the whole place is immaculate...you would never know other dogs and people were there before you. The cottage is welcoming and relaxing with lake views from every window. The water's only a few feet away and you can hear the waves lapping at the shore. The downstairs bathroom is clean and attractive. Upstairs, the bedroom has big windows over the water and its own rear outside door lets in the fresh lake air. Outside is laid out perfectly for your enjoyment. There is a porch by the entrance with an umbrella table and chairs. Scattered alongside the wide shore line are Adirondack chairs, a campfire all laid out (with extra wood nearby), and another deck area with table and chairs under the trees. It always has a lake breeze and shade (they call it the cafe). Within minutes of arrival we were settled in there and the dogs were in the lake swimming! The cottage location on Seneca Lake is surrounded by small towns which are fun to explore, and the City of Geneva is 15 minutes away if you're looking for more. We also enjoyed the town of Waterloo and their fun Drive-in food restaurant and diner. Come visit...just don't take my week...we'll be back! Thanks, Cindy!

Our new favorite place on Seneca Lake. Cindy is a wonderful host that quickly answered all questions prior to arrival, and explained the accommodations and history of the house when we arrived. The property was very clean and well stocked with everything visitors need. We loved the five separate lakeside seating areas so much that we skipped visiting wineries to enjoy this rental. Looking forward to future stays.

Was attending a wedding at a nearby winery and decided to make a week of it by staying at this house on the lake. So glad we did as the weather was unseasonably warm for October. We were able to fully enjoy the outdoor spaces which there are many as well as the kayaks on the water. Great sunset views! The house is comfortable and well appointed with all the kitchen essentials to prepare meals. The living space provides ample seating for entertainment viewing (Roku streaming device included) and there is a table / chairs in that area as well. The location is conveniently located near wineries and several farm markets for supplies. Would stay here again.

About the host

Hosted by Cindy Lont

Host profile image
My family purchased the property in the 1960s and over the years we added rooms and renovated what was a little boathouse into a full functioning cottage right on the lake. No one is allowed to build this close to the lake anymore but we were grandfathered since the building was here before that ruling. Each year I add something new. In 2015, it was a 100 foot permanent dock, new doors and new windows. In 2018, I added mini-split air conditioning and a bay window in the bedroom. In 2019, we reinforced the beach front and put on a new roof. In 2015, I retired from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where I had been a professor since 1984. Some people retire to the south. I retired back home to the north. I have two adult children who help me with the cottage. I have been renovating and renting this cottage for 14 years. It has been great meeting nice people (and their pets) and having them return year after year. Each year I make a photo book which highlights the dogs who have stayed that past season.

Why they chose this property

The difference between this cottage and the others on the lake is the location. It is very private with over 250 feet of lake shore just for you. There are no stairs going down to the lake like other cottages. You walk out the door, two steps off the deck and you are 6 feet from the water. You park your car down on the beach. It is private, quiet, and you can relax. No landline phones, no cable. Lots of DVDs, CDs, books, swimming, sun, and boating. Want to leave work behind? This is the place.

What makes this property unique

My parents always had a house on Seneca lake for summers. After 45 years, I finally live on the lake year round. The cottage property is so beautiful. I love the fires at night, the sunsets and swimming off the dock. Every night is a different sunset.
