The property was clean & had everything necessary for a nice stay. The full size kitchen is great and the enclosed porch is very large and it is nice to be able to sit and listen to the birds and the flowing river. I would definitely stay there again.
Perfect size getaway, river is chocolate this time of year, but still a beautiful, tree-lined waterway. Convenient access to lots of northern Arizona lakes and trails plus Payson amenities. Julie was a helpful, friendly host. Highly recommend.
Host was very helpful in making arrangements for my older family members. She was always responsive and made check-in easy. Other family members stayed nearby and the grandkids got to fish in the river. Fun was had by all, Thank you!

wonderful cabin
This was a wonderful cabin/home..very neat. Thanks a lot to Ken and Aridith, who made our stay special and for giving us ideas of where to go and actually taking us over there!!! The screened porch is perfect for the summer.Hope to come back!!!
Loved staying here! Short drive from the valley, and a good 20-30 degrees cooler than Mesa! Being alongside a small river, the temps are even a bit lower than Payson. It was very close to downtown Payson, but felt very secluded since you just see one neighbors house and nothing but forest and the river below from the wonderful screened in back porch. Super clean and well equipped for short or long stays. Would love to stay here again in the future.
Excellent! Beautiful location, the river is right out the back fence. There is an open walkway along the river, which is very nice to walk. The house has a nice layout, a great oven with all of the pans and utensils. The screened in room was the highlight for me, being outdoors with an excellent view, without bugs. Quiet nights with fresh air, it was restful and relaxing, just what I needed!
We are new to the area. My wife and myself retired last year. We moved to the Phoenix area in January. We celebrated our 46 th anniversary at this cabin. Everything was great cabin was clean comfortable and cozy I would highly recommend to anyone and will be coming back hopefully this fall. Thanks for having us.
This cabin was the perfect getaway for my 13 year old son and I to reconnect, fish and truly decompress. It was absolutely perfect and extremely welcoming. The location couldn’t have been better. We walked out the backyard gate and we were at the East Verde River. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay. We will be back next year!!
It's all about the river. Watch and listen to the East Verde in the Arizona room. Walk downstream and meet the cows. Enjoy a cozy evening in front of the gas fireplace. Then get a good night's sleep in this quiet neighborhood. Restful.

Wonderful visit!
My wife and i chose to spend our anniversary in Payson and it turned out great. Our rental cabin was a delight, old and modern at the same time and very clean. The owners live right next door and were extremely helpful and friendly.
I slept out on the porch every night. It was hot in Payson in the day, but really cooled down at night. I could hear the elk bugling almost every night.
There were lots of great day trips and plenty of good local restaurants. Do not miss Tonto Natural Bridge State Park!
It is also a great place to read or just do nothing. All things considered we are ready to move to Payson.
A special thank you to Ardith and Ken. We hope to see you again.

WONDERFUL HIDEAWAY
Everything about our trip was fantastic beginning with the ease of booking our reservations. The owner's confirmation and further communications were fast, accurate and very cordial. We found our 'cabin' to be everything and more than what we had pictured. The owners, Ken & Ardith Hogan made our stay even more enjoyable ~ hopefully we will be able to return and stay longer. The property is completely fenced in with a working, locking gate which was a particular bonus. You will love the screened in porch which comes with a bed for those of you that love the idea of sleeping outdoors, indoors :-) We hiked the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, went horseback riding at Kohl's Stables, as well as other shorter day hikes. Each day trip brought us back to our cozy cabin where we enjoyed a good meal, a walk along the river and relaxing in comfort. Thank you again Ardith & Ken ~ Sharon, Nikki, Spencer, Quinn and Moiselle

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Not too bad.
Place was clean and remodeled within the last 4 years. Water softener was a welcome addition. Cabin is right on the creek and surrounding area is friendly and well kept. Bed is a full size, ehhh... Queen should be minimum also only wood blinds in bedroom so if you like to sleep in this wouldn't be for you. Tried to contact the mgr/owner a couple times around check in, no response/callback. Garden in front of house has an 8 ft fence with barbed wire above it, lol, okay... There are remnants of a horseshoe pit. Too bad that wasn't functional, we love horseshoes. They do have wi-fi but it was so spotty we couldn't use it to make calls. Need to go to Payson for that.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway Cabin
This cabin was wonderful!!! It is in a very quiet location and is very peaceful. My favorite spot on the property was in the hammock chairs overlooking the river! My dogs and I loved our walks along the river's edge. I really appreciated how dog-friendly this listing is. They had bowls for the dogs and a couch cover ready to go for us. I truly felt that my dogs were welcome and recognized as a part of the family. The yard is completely fenced, and my dogs had a blast exploring every inch of it. One thing for dog owners to note is that the area does have goatheads that grow here, so come prepared to be removing them from your dogs paws. (This is not a bad reflection on the owner or this property, it is a common thing to the whole area.) The cabin is exactly as it is pictured on the listing. Very clean, comfortable, and feels like coming home. The cabin's kitchen is well-stocked and the cabin had everything that I needed. The owner, Ken, is friendly and was awesome to work with. There was even a special welcome gift waiting for me on the dining table. The location is great and convenient to nearby towns and attractions. I would highly recommend staying in this cabin, especially if you are looking for a dog friendly location.
Overall the trip was great away from the city scenery was pretty ,breathe of fresh air the house was comfortable right above the creek kids had a lot of fun
The description of the cabin is right on! The screened in porch faces the river and it's the perfect place to have your morning coffee! The beds are comfy, and the bathrooms and kitchen were immaculate. We were very happy staying in the cabin and hope to come back again!
We have owned several vacation homes in the Metro Phoenix since 2007. Owning another in the cool north is a dream we've had for several years.
Why they chose this property
This property was a vacation home set up by the previous owners. They had excellent reviews and tell us it was easy to rent.
What makes this property unique
Main views look out on the river with no one else in view. There are lovely neighbors but they are not too close. Watch the deer and elk stroll by in the day and starry skies at night.
