About this property

Custom 500 sq ft Cottage

This is a custom ( construction completed in September 2018), fully furnished 500 square foot cottage situated 2 miles north of downtown Gunnison, on 1.3 acres of private property on the Gunnison river, with private fishing and boating access during the summer season. A beautiful quite piece of paradise on a paved dead end county road. Property is a .5 mile walk to RTA bus stop ( free bus to Crested Butte and Gunnison) and bike path to town at the end of the road. we also have town bikes for you to use during your stay! There is also a park and ride stop 1 mile away, a great way to ski CB! Private driveway and parking, plenty of room for your trailers and toys! There is a shed for your bikes and skis. We live next door and are available if you need us. One month rentals are subject to a $175 cleaning fee.

We stayed at this cottage for a 5 day biking vacation. The location was perfect to hit Hartman Rocks and gravel riding in the Gunnison National Forest. The kitchen had everything we needed and a grocery store was close by. It was private and quiet at night - even saw a shooting star one night. Highly recommend this location.

This was my second stay in as many weeks. I have been living and working in Gunnison for the past year and a half and since my lease went up at my apartment (1/4 mile south) this cottage has served me well and has been very comfortable and private. I hope to reserve it again before I leave the valley to go home to Paonia.

Karah and Bob’s “Gus’s Getaway” is the perfect couple’s getaway on the Gunnison river. We were looking for a quiet cabin to enjoy some late fall colors and private access to one of Colorado’s most coveted trout fisheries. This is a very well stocked, super clean, and cozy cabin that leaves you looking forward to your next visit. Only 6 miles from a lively Main Street restaurant scene and under an hour from incredible views of The Black Canyon National Park. Best of all… the fishing right behind the cabin is legendary! We can’t wait to book next season! Karen and Bob are the most kind and generous hosts! 100% recommend!!

Great spot!

This is the second time I've had a parent stay here and it was equally as well received as the last time. The property is spacious, cozy, clean and secluded, and really made my family feel like they were truly on vacation while still having access to their grandkids. Meticulously clean and neat. Plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. Plenty of parking. Beautifully crafted cabin with attention to detail. All the amenities of home. Quiet, peaceful neighborhood, just step into the large yard to immerse yourself in nature and hear the river flowing by. The yard is full of fun for the family with a swing, horseshoes, frisby golf thingy, furnished wooden teepee with electricity that kids would love or lovers would love to get away from the other guests for a little privacy or relax by the river. Definitely worth the money, if you’re not staying here while in Gunison then you’re missing out.

The original house is the "Gunnison stage stop" (cira 1920) the "Getaway "is our newest addition and is part of the original property< WE moved here in 2003 and started creating our DREAM!!
