Lake Gaston Waterfront home with boat dock, fire pit, and views

Views, Views, Views!!! We bought this house for the views, and we wanted to make sure they were the focal point of it all. This 2900 sq ft house has space for everyone set on a beautiful 1-acre waterfront lot, plenty of room for yard and lake activities.

Open concept great for multiple families with a separate kids’ space; fun and relaxation for everyone. Fireplaces are wood-burning. The downstairs’ open space has a living area, sleeping area, Ping-Pong table, bathroom, and walkout access to the lake. Downstairs has 2 sets of bunk beds, a separate single bed, and a queen sleeper sofa. All upstairs bedrooms have king beds to make sure everyone’s stay is comfortable. The owner’s suite has an on-suite bath. We care about comfort and know that not all vacation rentals invest in mattresses- we did!

The large sliding doors in the owner’s suite, guest bedroom, and the French doors in the main living area all provide vast views of Lake Gaston. Windows above the kitchen sink have made dish duty less of a chore. The kitchen window allows you to enjoy the water views even while filling the dishwasher or making your morning coffee. The kitchen is fully stocked with any gadget or dish you could need to prepare your favorite meals and a grill to make vacation meals with less mess and clean-up. Invite more to the indoor dining table extends to seat up to 10.

Nestled in a protected cove, you can take in the broad views of the main lake while safely enjoying the water away from busy boat traffic. The shore is a sanded beach with a gradual slope to allow everyone to take part in water fun, no matter their age. Use one of the kayaks, fish from the dock, float on a raft, or jump in the lake to cool off. The end of the dock offers 9ft deep water with access to 20' deep water just a few feet away. It’s all possible 20 feet from the house and within view from the back deck. Have a boat and/or Sea-Doo? No problem. You can store it at the boat dock while you stay. Bluebird Point boat ramp is less than a mile away for convenient watercraft access.

A large expansive deck is accessible from the owner’s suite and a guest room. Appreciate the screened in porch with outdoor seating and dining just through the french doors of the main living area. The entire space is interconnected so everyone can access the lake and outdoors. The deck’s stairs are protected by a dual latch gate to provide safety and ease of mind if little ones are exploring. The perfect lake house experience for all with plenty of parking in the U-shaped driveway.

Peaceful stay in the cove

Laura was an excellent host and communicator. Her home was relaxing for our visiting family and our kids were entertained by the various amenities (ping pong, fishing, swimming) that were available. The home is comfortable and in a peaceful cove. I would recommend this stay to folks of all ages! Wonderful stay!

Best place on the lake.

This was our 4th year renting this home on the lake. It is perfect for the needs of our extended family. We had 13 of us including 5 young grandkids. The house easily fit all of us and the waterfront has a beach, a dock, a boat lift and is located on a quiet part of the lake. PERFECT!

Best place to rent for families with small kids

This was our 2nd year renting this property and it was fabulous. We have 5 grandkids that joined us and this beautiful place on a quiet cove with a nice sandy beach, water toys galore, and a perfect house for families, made for a wonderful week. Our host Lauren was perfect. We have rented at Gaston for 20 years. This is hands down the best rental we have ever had.

We loved the pull up! The view of Lake Gaston and the dam! We had the best neighbors (osprey and babies). The experience on the lake this year was surreal! The Gathering Place was a very welcoming place to be and a centralized location between Roanoke Rapids & Littleton. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again!

This is a great house and everything Is as advertised. The set up of the house is perfect for families. The kids had the basement, the adults had the upstairs. House was very clean and had all of the little touches that made the house great. Kitchen was fully stocked, water toys were great. Highly recommend this house and definitely want to rent again the next time we are there.

Great Family Getaway

This house exceeded my expectations in cleanliness, comfort, and just all around great house. Having King sized beds in all the bedrooms was just awesome for my family. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a rental - nice dishes, silverware, appliances, pots and pans, etc. were all top notch stuff. Communication with the owner was always prompt. My adult children loved the house and we would all love to go back again!

Great time at the lake! We had a great time at the house this year! However, there were a few too many black (wood) ants in the kitchen. Not sure why they were appearing in the kitchen . Thank you for another great experience! I would like to reserve for next year!

This was exactly what we needed. The access to the main lake in the boat is superior. The bedrooms all on the main floor for the grown ups and the children's bunk room being downstairs is fabulous. This is one we will definitely consider again. The views from the house were superb and the screen porch was wonderful. The owner was really responsive when we had trouble accessing the key upon arrival..

Paradise on the lake

The Gathering Place is one of the best rental homes we have ever stayed at. Lauren is so quick to respond to any inquiries.. The house is so clean and well stocked! Our grandkids go right to the snacks upon arrival. Very nice touch! The location is convenient to the lake, grocery store etc. We will continue to make family memories every year at this beautiful location! Wonderful stay on the lake

This property was everything that we wanted for our weekend getaway. It was incredibly clean, well stocked, comfortable, and relaxing. I couldn’t believe how many times we said “did you see X any where?” And the answer was always “yes, it’s in that drawer” (or wherever it was located). There was plenty to do to entertain my almost 3 year old, including the beach entry for the water that made it incredibly easy for getting her and our infant as well in the lake. No complaints here! 10/10 would recommend!

Loved it - exactly as described and pictured

I have rented several houses from VRBO, This one exactly matched my pre-trip expectations. That's worth it's weight in gold. Lauren and Anthony, thank you for everything! Our family vacation was amazing! Your house had everything you could have asked for! Clean, well stocked, exactly as described, and great location! We felt right at home the second we arrived! Our grandchildren were in the water the entire stay! It was a very hot week and walking a few steps to the water was great! The welcome snacks were appreciated too! We couldn’t have asked for any better communication! Oh and the beds were so comfortable, we will miss them! We can’t wait to return in the future! Well furnished rental

This was the best stocked kitchen of any rental we have had. The owner left all kinds of personal touches that made the house seem like home. It is beautifully decorated but in such a way that even with a 3 year old it felt cozy. We rented a pontoon boat from Lake Gaston Summer Rentals. It allowed us to explore the lake and visit Goat Island. Although we fished from the boat we had our best luck from the dock. Prior to our trip I sent several e-mails to the owner with questions. I always got a response within a few hours. We would definitely rent again from this owner.

Great week

The fact that we were back for our second year says it all. Very enjoyable stay. The whole family wanted to return to this house again. Great location and very well equipped. We would highly recommend it. Only two issues. The owner had changed the combination of the key lock box and not updated the checkin instructions. We were locked out on arrival for a couple hours until we could get the new code. And, previous guests had left the fire pit full of trash. We did not have any plans to use it, so this did not impact our stay.

Even better than we thought it’d be!

What a great place to stay! And we couldn’t believe all the amenities available that the owners did not have to provide. Often times listings say they provide certain amenities only to find that those are lacking or poor quality, etc. Not here! They even had a perfect camp fire already built in the fire pit ready for us to light. The check-in process was super easy and communication with Lauren was attentive and thorough. We had 4 adults and 6 teenagers and Lauren’s house was perfect! We rented a pontoon and easily tied it up to the dock when not using. The location at the back of the cove is perfect as well! Thank you Lauren! We will be back!

Best place and host ever

This is our 3rd straight year staying at Lauren's beautiful place on Lake Gaston and we are already looking forward to next year. If I could nominate Lauren for host of the year, I would. On the first day, I had some questions and she handled them within 2 minutes of my inquiry. When I thought that we were going to be without a highchair for my 1 year old grandchild, Lauren offered to order one from Amazon and have it sent to us. With 5 grandchildren age 1-8, this is a perfect place. Upstairs has plenty of room for their parents and plenty of kitchen space and seating inside and out. Downstairs is a kids dream with 2 sets of triple bunks and a giant room with foosball, ping pong, and a pinball machine. Outside is perfect with a great dock, a boat lift, and a gentle shallow beach area for little kids to play. It is a beautiful view and it is protected from the crowds and the waves of the main lake. Can't wait to come back for year 4.

PERFECT

I’ve been renting vacation homes at Lake Gaston for the past 6 years … and this one by far has it all. Plenty of space for 3 families. (11 of us total). We all could not get over how comfortable the beds were. I feel all 3 families will have new mattresses inspired by this house very soon. Plenty of games and space for the kids to play. The kitchen was well stocked. We really felt at home. The smart TV allows you to sign into your own accounts which is nice for the evening wind downs. The sandy “beach” was amazing for my 4 and 5 year old. They both learned how to swim underwater thanks to it!!! Lots of room for practice! Even more fun was that at the end of the dock you were able to jump off with no obstructions. It was pretty deep! I won the belly flop competition. (I do not recommend participating in such competitions as an adult.) The views were amazing. Watching storms roll in. Watching boats drive by. Our neighbor in the field was an osprey with some babies…up on an electrical line. It was great to watch the mama osprey hunt for fish. She did a better job than us. Owner was very easy to get ahold of, and was always kind and prompt. I will rent this house every year that it’s on the market. I just don’t think another house could compare.

Great North Carolina home on Lake Gaston.

Our family had an awesome summer vacation on beautiful (super clean) Lake Gaston! The cove that this house is on was very private with little boat traffic. The kids were in the lake all day and night. The 3 kayaks provided, let them explore the neighboring coves and the lights on the dock let them stay out there all night and fish. The house is updated and well decorated with spacious bathrooms, a large screened in porch, and comfortable mattresses in the bedrooms. The kid's favorite part of the house was definitely the basement. They loved the bunk beds, ping pong table and having their own TV and bathroom. Our family tries to go somewhere new every summer, but this rental will be hard not to come back to.

Our family has grown to love kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing in this beautiful body of water. Experiences we hope to share!

Why they chose this property

Our family purchased this home to make time as a family possible. When we purchased the house my son and I lived near the ocean in Wilmington, NC my husband lived in the DC area for work. This is our Gathering Place to create family time on the weekends. No matter how many times we've been here we are still sad to leave, because we know that nothing is better than being a family at our gathering place.

Now we want to share the time we've relaxed in comfort and enjoyed the views with you. Every lakefront property can offer the lake, but we wanted to make sure your experience is more vacation and less packing. This is where we spend our downtime as well, so you should be afforded all the comfort of your own home. If you are anything like me, you check to see what the home has to make sure you pack it if it's not there (coffee pot, griddle, kitchen essentials, sheets, towels (how many).. etc). We’ve got you covered! This time you don't have to pack like you are moving to be on vacation.

Our home is more fun and less worry. Even with the main lake views you are in a cove removed from boat traffic, the deck is gated, sloping beach in the front and we have life jackets to fit toddlers to adults.
