Had a great time! Loved the back patio/deck area. We spent alot of time back there. Also loved having bikes available to us. Some need some work but we had 4 operational ones to work with. We love Key Colony Beach! Best place in the keys for a low calm vibe vacation!
Overall it had plenty of room for the 3 couples. Plenty of room to spread out. Unable to kayak due to a damaged deck. Was unsafe.
Some minor repairs needed.
The lock on the door did not lock. We were never given the entire set of keys so couldn’t open the bottom doors. We had to leave a slider open to get back in the house every day. The dryer didn’t work and we told the agent but never got a response. The entire house needs at least a good coat of paint as it is kind of old overall. I did like the area but it was advertised that tue clubhouse had a gym. It did not and was ok at best.
The home worked well for our party of 8 (2 parents, 2 adult children, 4 teens). Everyone had their own bed. Kitchen was nicely stocked. We fished off the dock a lot, used the bikes and kayaks, went to the beach club most of the days. Close enough to Key west to trek there for Dinner once and spent a day there as well. Not sure I would choose this destination (not specific to this property) if we had young kids as I could see it being inconvenient to have to put everyone in the car to do anything. Overall we had a fun time between beach club, fishing, aquarium, snorkel trip and some other excursions.
There were so many things wrong with this house that they seem almost too numerous to list. Upon arrival at the house it seemed like one thing after another went wrong. So many lightbulbs all throughout the house were burnt out. The lightbulb over the kitchen Island, Bathroom lights out, and no light at all in the Refrigerator were the beginning. Outside light switches did not work. Things that just were not right-
Dryer took 3 90 minute cycles to dry bath and pool towels.
The very old Pots and Pans were terrible.
No large skillet or fry pan for making pancakes etc. for large groups.
No wash cloths in the bathrooms.
One twin bed was made without a top sheet.
No hair dryer in the house.
Master bedroom had stylish but totally sheer curtains. Don’t undress in the bedroom unless you want to put on a show.
Master bath had a fan that made a very loud noise.
I really didn’t understand how everything could be so run down. Perhaps no one rented the home for a really long time or they just didn’t care how run down it had gotten.
I did contact the rental agency and asked for their help resolving the issues. Some things they fixed, and other things they did not fix. It did put a damper on our two weeks having to deal with all of the issues.
My advise is to have someone QC and really check on the rental occasionally. The property was in my opinion neglected.
On a good note we liked the location very much. We did use the “club” several times and loved it the.
This property was great for our family of eight. Grandparents had the space downstairs and the family of six had plenty of space upstairs. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, the Cabana Club and kayaks.
We had asked if there was a Keurig and was told there wasn't. However there was one when arrived.
Roomy, family friendly rental close to stores and activities!
This was our second year reserving this rental. We love that it has a downstairs unit that is more private our my parents (grandparents). We enjoyed the kayaks and bicycles and being able to go to the Cabana Club, which is nearby. The house is also in close proximity to the stores in Marathon and in a family safe neighborhood. The canal is also a favorite for fishing and seeing manatees. We highly recommend this property!
Pro - location, boat parking, enough sleeping spots for 2 families, equipped kitchen, 3 showers, nice outdoor area, great amenities, 2 living spaces
Con- Pro - location, boat parking, enough sleeping for 2 families, equipped kitchen, 3 showers, nice outdoor, 2 living spaces, directv
Con- dryer didn’t work, internet didn’t work, no response from management other than a maintenance person would come by Monday and didn’t. Cockroaches in kitchen and bathroom , dryer didn’t work, internet didn’t work, no response from management other than a maintenance person would come by Monday and didn’t. Was told maintenance came by Wednesday and dryer was fine however it took 2-3 cycles to dry anything. Found the timed drying worked the best out of all options. No response about internet. Upload and download speed was less than 1 mbps so couldn’t do any work or watch any streaming.
I would stay here again for all the pros but want others aware of cons and prepare appropriately. Don’t plan on any remote working or streaming unless internet is fixed.
Overall we were very pleased with the location and the house. Close to many attractions and beaches! Our family of 4 kids and 4 adults fit very well here and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the outdoor space a lot and there were plenty of kayaks. That said, The BBQ was corroded and left a lot to be desired - we didn’t get to use it, even though we refilled the tank. The bikes were in pretty bad shape and we tried to use them but not very successfully. We would rent here again, if the bbq gets replaced!
We loved this house. We had multi generations and the lay out was great. Location was perfect too and we loved the club and gold course! Something for everyone
Too windy to enjoy any time out on the water, but the house was perfectly situated within walking distance to the Cabana club, sunset beach, and the gas station.
Everything was great. House was quiet and very comfortable. Beds comfortable. Linens cleaned well.
Utilities were nice. Canal home with bikes, games, fishing poles, and kayaks were a plus. Neighborhood was a huge upside due to being off US1 with alot less traffic (one way in, one way out) and quiet. Cute par 3 golf tho $13 for 9 holes is a steep price considering the course condition which was ok at best. Sunset Park was a small but serene area for visiting and quiet time. All shopping needs are close by (longest distance was the main super market about 12 minutes away). Use Captain Hook's (for sure) if you plan on snorkeling/diving and fishing!
2 small issues- internet connection was sketchy at times and the dishes/pots/utensils required a cleaning before use (not terrible, but we felt better cleaning them before use).
The house was perfect. It had everything you need for a perfect stay. Everything that you see on line is there and in good shape. Planning another trip next year and plan to stay there.
