About this property

Kayakers Delight! Narrow River, SK- Cute, comfy 1BR

Narrow River, SK-Adorable 1BR cottage near bridge at Middlebridge, water VIEWS from yard, short drive to beach at Narragansett- well furnished, bath upgrade, big fridg, washer/dryer, quality bed and futon sofabed, sun porch, deck, great yard, no pets/smoking.

This booking is only available select weeks, 2024 remaining are following dates: Aug 15-28

IThis property is professionally cleaned before and after every occupancy and all needed cleaning supplies are provided with the rental. Nice water VIEWS from house - is not a waterFRONT property. Large, private deck and yard, fully equipped kitchen. Dishes, pots and pans, and internet- many incidentals and extras- this is a fully furnished “turn key” home. Parking for two cars. Access to public boat launch is 6/10 of a mile north at the end of Mitchell Avenue off Middlebridge Road. Narragansett is just over the bridge.

Enjoy riding your bikes to the beach, take your kayak down the Narrow River to the beach at Narragansett, grill and sun on the deck, and walk and bike ride in the shady neighborhood. The cottage style kitchen with its charming pine paneling, ceiling fan and skylight has been refurbished with cupboards, counters and all stainless appliances and dishwasher; likewise for the bath with recent tiled and glassed shower enclosure.

Tall guy alert: Tall guy alert! There are some low door ways! Living room with full size futon sofa bed, wireless internet, flat screen TV w/DVD player; no cable service, but iPad and other device users can stream to this tv via Chromecast. The bedroom features antique mahogany sleigh bed with two large antique dressers. There is a room air conditioner in the bedroom, but chances are our ocean breezes will keep you cool! The ceiling in the bedroom is on the low side. In the dining area, seat 4 at the country table or find a workspace at the mahogany desk (for long evenings working on your Great American Novel…or postcards from your vacation...)

Large yard, ground level deck, table and chairs, and patio furniture. Cute sun porch furnished and equipped for bug-free candlelight dining. The gorgeous Narrow River, heralded as one of the Northeasts' best kayaking waterways, is visible from the house and the yard, and water access is a short walk down Middlebridge Road.

Great area for walking, running, biking, and it is only a couple minutes drive or a few minutes bike ride from Narragansett Beach.

Folks with kids: This has been a great spot for older kids! The house is just not able to be toddler-proof, and the yard has stuff in it that can't be played with, in or on. I think you'll be happy here with 1 or 2 kids age 7 or so and above. The yard is fenced on the sides and back, and we have yard games. There's lots to do in the area for families. Please contact me for any info you may need. Please note that this is a SMOKE FREE PROPERTY. No smoking or pets, please.

Great yard with 3 large umbrellas, nice size table..,great hideaway garden spot for morning coffee. If you are looking for a place to wind down, this is a nice choice. A Perfect Summer Cottage
The property is everything you would expect out of a little Summer Cottage with the added bonus of a nice bathroom and shower. Everything you would need was provided for the stay, including beach towels -- which was nice since we didn't have to pack them. My husband and I came with our two girls (8 & 3). We requested a cot as well, but didn't need it. The girls were perfectly fine sleeping on the couches/futon. The ceiling is low at points, but it added to the charm (my husband is 6'2" and only bumped his head a few times). There are window air conditioners in the rooms -- they worked great! The location is perfect. An easy drive to Narragansett beach. We enjoyed going to Scarborough, Roger Wheeler, and Narragansett beach with the girls. There is no outdoor shower but there is a hose to wash off sand. No cable TV but we used our ipads and the provided ChromeCast, we never had a problem with the WiFi. It was a perfect stay with a wonderful host -- I cried when we had to leave! We would definitely rent again.

About the host

I'm an artist and educator, and lived in this house myself for ten years.

Why they chose this property

I loved this house from the second I saw it- near the beach, but in a quiet corner with marvelous neighbors. I wanted to live near the ocean! and I did for ten years. I still live on the waterfront in Warren, on the East Bay. Now, this Middlebridge sanctuary is my magic artists' get-away studio spot. I share it during the summers and have lovingly updated this small house every year since I bought it.

What makes this property unique

Welcome to Middlebridge! and be prepared to relax. The Narrow River is a beautiful, unspoiled corner just off the beaten track, but handy to everything you want from a South County vacation. If your style is swimsuit optional for dinner, grilling on the deck, a kayak sojourn at dawn, or a long bike ride, you'll feel right at home. You will love the wrought iron chairs in the back with a view of the river- the perfect shady corner on a warm day, bring the iced tea! the ideal spot to watch the sunrise over the river with some freshly made espresso from the little Moka pot in the kitchen. The birds are everywhere in Middlebridge and we often joke that they are in charge. Small wonder, with a large bird sanctuary right across the river from the house. You will see herons, hawks, gulls, cormorants, terns, piping plover and our favorite, the local ospreys, who will put on a show for you hunting their supper in some spectacular dives. We also love the 'full moon paddle" hosted once a month just over the bridge at Narrow River Kayaks- that is some fine Middlebridge magic! We are definitely lacking in crowds, noise, parking lots, loud parties, a bar scene, people watching, and hotel decorating; art in the house is all real and local. (If you need any of that other noisy stuff, it's 10 minutes away or less.) We're betting once you get here, you won't care. We play a game here each year: we try as hard as we can each day of vacation to not need to leave Middlebridge (except, of course, that kayak ride to the beach..) And with grocery delivery from Wakefield's marvelous Belmont Market, you can play that game too! Enjoy.
