Beautifully Renovated Apartment Inside The Walls With Large and Sunny Terrace

A stunning and spacious apartment on the second floor of a historic building. Recently renovated, with original wooden beams and terracotta floor throughout.

The sitting room and kitchen-dining room have French windows which open onto the large terrace and a separate balcony. These face south and overlook private gardens. They are furnished with a table and chairs for al fresco dining, with wall lights for the evenings.

The large sitting room has two sofas and a 40 inch wall-mounted 3D TV with international satellite channels, a DVD player and an i-pod docking station. There is wi-fi internet access throughout the apartment.

The large and elegant kitchen-dining room has as its centrepiece a stunning range, including chimney and original stone sink. It is equipped with dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, drinks fridge and separate fridge-freezer, washer-dryer, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetière and cooking utensils.

The two bedrooms each have double (king size) beds and there is a double sofa bed in the sitting room. There is also a single foldout mattress.

The bathroom has both bath and shower and an illuminated mirror, wall-mounted towel rail and wall-mounted and under-basin cupboards.

The apartment is equipped with fans, including ceiling fans, and all windows are fitted with mosquito nets (very important in the height of summer in Lucca!).

The apartment is centrally located within the ancient walls in a quiet street next to a coffee bar (very handy for breakfast pastries and coffee!). It is just two minutes from all the amenities of Lucca, including restaurants, the main shopping street of Via Fillungo and piazzas, with the best gelateria in town on nearby Piazza San Salvatore! It is also just five minutes walk from the bus station, 10 minutes walk from the train station and five minutes walk from the tourist information office where you can rent bikes. Cycling on the walls is a must and the best way to see the city!

Please note that traffic is restricted within the city walls and if you drive there you will incur a fine. However there are public car parks 10 minutes walk from the apartment just by the city walls.

Bedding, towels and beach towels are provided. There are also a travel cot and child's car seat in the apartment.

A deposit of 300 euros will be taken by the property manager on arrival to cover breakages and damage.

Please note that guests are required when checking out to pay for gas and electricity consumed during their stay. Please be aware that energy is relatively expensive in Italy.

Enjoyable stay

We were very pleased with the apartment, spacious, well-equipped and in a good, quiet location. It was helpful to have tea, coffee, sugar and condiments provided as well as a welcome bottle of wine. Our first time in Lucca which has plenty to offer, all within reasonable walking distance, so our choice of apartment was a good one.

I understand the 'additional costs' referred to relate to the cost of energy (gas for heating and electricity) during the stay. These are not included in the rental fee and all guests are notified upon booking that when they check out of the apartment they will be charged for the gas and electricity they have consumed. They are also warned when they book that energy is expensive in Italy so they may wish to moderate their usage during their stay. This guest stayed in December / January so I can imagine they felt the need to have the heating on quite a bit. The property manager went through with them how the energy costs were calculated using the meter readings at the beginning and end of ther stay and my understanding was that they were happy about this.

We just retired and my wife and I absolutely loved this apartment everything in Lucca was just outside the door. Loved sitting on the terrace in the morning and evenings. We stayed for the entire month of May and had a fantastic experience. Tonya does a great job of sharing great “day trips” tips and the Lucca train station is just a 15-20 minute walk from the apartment.

My 2024 stay in Lucca

The apartment is beautiful, comfortable and in a great location. There are great restaurants within a five minute walk in any direction. Tanya was the perfect host, quick to respond to any needs which were few and her advice was impeccable. This was my second month-long visit to Lucca but my first stay within the walls. It was an experience that I will never forget and highly recommend.

Great property in a lovely location

We stayed in the apartment for 10 days. It is within walking distance of all of the walled city and the train station. The property is clean and well managed. It is accessed by stairway only; two and a half flights. There is a lovely balcony with a table and plenty of light in the apartment.

The property manager, Tanya, was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The apartment was very well-equipped and furnished for a multi-week stay. It had comfortable beds and couches, a private outdoor terrace in the courtyard, and was stocked with kitchen and cleaning supplies and extra bedding and linens.The wifi, heating, and water systems all worked well. The apartment is on a quiet street very close to the town center and a city gate. We highly recommend this apartment!

Perfect Lucca

The apartment is perfect -great location, well appointed, comfy beds, spotlessly clean and has a beautiful balcony which we loved. Information and communications were excellent at all times. Lucca is wonderful city to spend time in - history and culture to see, delicious food aplenty, city walls to walk and the most delicious ice creams we have ever tasted. Beautifully restored apartment in historic center of Lucca

The owners of this apartment clearly poured their heart and soul into it, turning a previously abandoned space (as shown in the photos framed in the kitchen) into something beautiful and full of character. From the tile flooring and the exposed beams and ceilings throughout, to the absolutely unique kitchen, the apartment makes for a memorable stay. The beds are very comfortable, plenty of linens were available and the outdoor dining table was enjoyable on the non-rainy days of our stay. We greatly enjoyed the proximity to stores, restaurants and the various sites that Lucca has to offer. Thanks to the owners for a great trip to Tuscany!

Lucca experience.

Excellent location. Great apartment with outside space. Thankyou Tanya for great information. We would also say thank you to your taxi driver on the way back to airport took as to tower. This is a well placed apertment with everything one requires for a self catering holiday. We loved eveything about it. We got used to the stairs which increased our fitness. A little bit of shade on the terrace maybe an umbrella would have made it brilliant for eating in the morning. Cannot recommend this area enough very friendly people. So helpful.

Not completely as advertised

Comfortable beds, beautiful decor, lovely outdoor space. Best part about this property is Tanya, the property manager! Location is ok - on a fairly quiet street, but across from a hotel and the bedrooms overlook the street, so noises can be heard as guests come in and out or talk outside the hotel. VRBO listing does not state that renters will be charged for gas and electricity and that should be stated up front. There is also standing water in the kitchen sink and outdoor balcony so lots of mosquitoes inside the property - something we didn’t see anywhere else in March. Lastly, the apartment was not cleaned as it should have been between renters, so we spent a lot of time cleaning or not using certain things (like bar fridge in kitchen) because we didn’t want to spend vacation time cleaning any more than we already had. This is a solid 3.5 to 4 star rental, but not a 5 star. It could be with adjustments made.

All guests are notified upon booking that when they check out of the apartment they will be charged for the gas and electricity they have consumed. They are also told that energy is comparatively expensive in Italy. I have now added this to the description of the property on the VRBO listing as well. Guests are also charged for any breakages and I understand from Tanya (the property manager) that some discretion was shown in this regard. Regarding the mosquitos there had been a period of hot and wet weather in Lucca which meant that mosquitos appeared much earlier than they normally do. All the windows are fitted with mosquito screens and guests should ensure that these are kept down. The apartment has been sprayed to eliminate any that were inside. Thank you for bringing the issues about the cleaning to my attention. I understand that Tanya offered for the cleaner to come back as soon as you raised this with her but that this was declined. The chipped side plate that you messaged Tanya about has been thrown away. I believe this is the first time that issues have been raised about this and they have been addressed directly with the cleaner so I am hopeful it won’t happen again.

Bis auf Kleinigkeiten sehr gute Unterkunft

Der Aufenthalt in der urigen Wohnung war sehr gut. Alles funktionierte inklusive der elektrischen Geräte., Nachfragen an Tanya oder Nicole wurden umgehend beantwortet. Öl, Essig Gewürze, Kaffee und Reinigungsmittel waren vorhanden. Bis auf die sehr schmutzige Terrasse war es in der Wohnung sehr sauber. Parkmöglichkeiten rar und sehr teuer, kostenfrei in ca. 15 Minuten Entfernung am Friedhof. Die Koffer muß man von der Kurzparkzone am Busbahnhof ca. 300m über holpriges Pflaster zur Wohnung transportieren. Eine Einfahrt in Zentrum ist nicht erlaubt, kostet 80, wird Kamera-Überwacht.

Schöne Wohnung in guter Lage im bezaubernden Lucca

Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit in Lucca, die Wohnung liegt recht ruhig und doch zentral. Die Einrichtung hat uns gefallen, die Küche ist mit traditionellen Elementen versehen (Steinabwaschbecken) und bietet viel Platz, es gibt eine Terrasse, die wir bei gutem Wetter gern genutzt hätten. Die Betten sind bequem und die Wohnung gut ausgestattet. Die Betreuung vor Ort war sehr unkompliziert und freundlich. Wir empfehlen die Wohnung gern weiter.

Wunderschönes Apartment in sehr zentraler Lage

Sehr geschmackvoll renoviertes und gut ausgestattetes Apartment mit großzügigem Balkon in bester Altstadtlage. Bis zu vier Meter hohe Decken, zwei Schlafzimmer, von denen wir nur eines (das mit dem härteren Bett) genutzt haben. Sehr freundlicher Vermieter, der uns schon vorab sehr viele nützliche Informationen hatte zukommen lassen und uns sehr nette Aufmerksamkeiten bereitstellen ließ. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Sehr schöne, große Wohnung in der wundervolen Altstadt Luccas

Die Kommunikation mit dem Eigentümer und der Verwalterin lief super. Die Wohnung punktet mit einer großen Essküche und einem tollen großen Balkon, auf dem wir im April gern gesessen haben. Auch in der ersten Hälfte des Monats mussten wir nicht heizen. Die Wohnung ist mit allem gut ausgestattet und hat eine ruhige Toplage zur Erkundung der Innenstadt. Viele Einkaufsgelegeneiten, Restaurants etc. in der Nähe. Um Gratisparkplätze zu nutzen, muss man allerdings 10-15 Minuten laufen. Kleines Manko: der Gasherd hat nur 2 Kochfelder. Aber gut, dass es ein Gasherd ist, denn man muss aufpassen, dass man nicht mehrere elektrische Geräte (z.B. Ofen und Wasserkocher) gleichzeitig nutzt, da sonst die Sicherung rausspringt. Kann man sich mit arrangieren. Davon ab war das Appartment ideal für unseren Urlaub. Gerne wieder!

Living la viva Lucca

I stayed at this property for 5 weeks and loved every minute of it. The unit is spacious, clean, and comfortable. It has everything you need for a visit It is close to all the sites within the walled city and there are tons of options for day trips etc. The apartment is also within steps to cafe’s and incredible restaurants. I miss this place already and am hoping to return again soon!
