Hurricane Helene Update: Our cabins are in good shape. Our lakefront and first pond have been damaged and will need to be repaired. The construction at our lakefront to remove sediment from the lake from Hurricane Helene has finished! We are very grateful for the work the Corps of Engineers and their subcontractors have done, but we are equally happy that the Beep! Beep! and engine noise have stopped. The lake will remain lowered until Spring, but that happens many years anyway. Our cozy romantic cabins are now peaceful all day. 'Tootsie's Cabin' is a historic very rustic mountain cabin. It has one bedroom and one bath. With a queen bed in the bedroom, it can accommodate 2 people. This lakefront cabin has an open porch with views of Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains. Tootsie's Cabin is pet friendly. "Tootsie" was the nickname for the current owner's grandmother. Tootsie operated Pine Gables Cabins for many decades.

We stayed for 2 weeks in Tootsie’s cabin. Beautiful view of lake & nearby to everything. Cabin needs a good deep cleaning and I’d say we were more like Glamping. The host Jim was very responsive and immediately satisfied our issue.

Tootsie cabin Pine Gable
Property was nice and remote. The cabin was very rustic, needed a good cleaning. Couch was not comfortable. The bed was comfortable and smelled clean, but small. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. Air conditioner could not keep the small cabin cool, but it was a very hot weekend.
I had a pleasant time in this cabin. It's small--best for a couple. The kitchen is small and the appliances are old but everything works. The bed is comfy, and the open space is uncluttered. The couch smells like dog. I loved the porch! I had some work to do while I was there, and I spent a lot of time out there with my laptop. The lake is right there, and there are canoes you can use at the bottom of the path to the lake. It's quiet, despite being very close to town. You are right across from Morse Park Gardens, and near town also. Great location!
The area is so beautiful. So much to see around lake lure. .
The cabin was perfect for us. Yes it's small and a little out dated but I wasn't looking for luxury on this stay. Just away from the city life. I've never been to the mountains before and this was perfect. There is access to the lake right at the edge of the property. Canoes where there for us to use. Everything you needed was supplied at the cabin. Nice and quiet. The lake tour was very nice also. And before going to chimney Rock make sure to do some leg exercises. That's a lot of steps to go up and down. I would definitely come back if I have the chance.
We enjoyed our view of lake Lure & the eagle that hunted , ate, & lived on a branch on the waters edge in front of our cabin. Seen a bear rummage around the 2nd night. Loved it all!
