Craigh na Dun did not disappoint. Everything was perfect with the exception of the bathrooms' privacy. Having glass doors, no doors, and windows that give a direct view of the toilet is awkward and not conducive to being comfortable. We figured out how to navigate that, and everything else was wonderful. We would visit again
It was the perfect Outlander weekend away. Very cozy and ambient. Located up the mountain with gorgeous views of Grandfather Mountain. A perfect weekend away.
Amazing cabin! We will definitely be back again and again. Talking about stepping back into time…but having a very modern experience! We loved everything! We didn’t leave for anything the entire weekend - so plan on bringing what you need and just enjoy the space. Love, love, love!
We loved our stay a Craigh na Dun! I love going to the mountains but have never stayed anywhere this quiet. It is remote and takes awhile to get anywhere, so we took one day and just stayed enjoying the place. This is not standard construction and we spent hours admiring it! Hopefully the next group finished the puzzle we started!
We spent Christmas at Craigh na Dun. It was wonderfully quiet and quaint. Spectacular sunsets over the mountains, with champagne n the back porch. Cousy evenings cooking and watching Xmas movies. Great time! Can't wait to go back!!!
The cabin is about 30 minutes away from anything, make sure you go to the store before you go. amazing little get away. No privacy, but for us that was perfect. I dont think we even turned on the TV the whole time we were there. views, the atmosphere. Just amazing.
The pictures do not do it justice. the house is private, and very well appointed. Plenty of towels, spices, a nice and clean hot tub. All in all a delightful time.
Great cabin with a cool theme to it. Excellent views! Perfect for one or two couples. The drive up wasn't that bad either in just a normal sedan, as its paved roads up until the driveway. The leaves weren't on the trees yet in early spring, so we'd like to come back sometime when the leaves are fully in, or even in the fall when they are changing. It should be really beautiful then.
Craigh na Dun is a masterpiece of construction, decor, and comfort, perfectly located for our visits to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Wilkesboro, NC. The views over the western range and Grandfather Mountain are phenomenal. The hosts are responsive and accommodating and spared no expense in making the home an authentic Scottish/Outlander experience! They care about their cabin, and it is evident they want their guests to be pleased. Loved it!
It was a beautiful home, very secluded which is exactly what i wanted, and the house was themed which was unique and awesome! I had a hard time reaching the host though, could have been user error but i tried twice, once through Vrbo messages and once by a number left in the book. The only downside to the trip was that the hot tub didnt work. It was drained and i was SO looking forward to soaking so it was a dissapointment. The neighborhood was fantastic though and scenery was great!
This was a very special place with amazing views... The kitchen was well supplied (though take your own special seasonings) - we ate all meals there and spent very quiet days/nights here. The weather was cooler and the views were spectacular!!
The only downside - if you need one - is that fact we could hear everything happening in other rooms and most of the doors have windows, even to the bathroom! Lol
If that's all I can find wrong - then, that's a perfect place!
