About this property

Cottage in the Oaks is a restored Historical Cottage from the late 1800’s

Cottage in the Oaks is located on our property, which has 2 1/2 acres of Ancient Live Oak trees. It is nestled away from a neighborhood, with a lot of privacy. The 660 sq foot cottage was refurbished entirely in Feb 2019 and has a full kitchen with a full size stove and refrigerator and has all the amenities you need, should you decide to skip the great restaurants available, and stay in to cook. There is a peninsula that multi tasks as dining and a work station.
The living room has a queen size pull out sofa bed (with a gel foam mattress) and plenty of lighting to read. The bedroom has a queen size bed and full closet (hangers included) , the one bathroom is a large room, with a walk in shower and a full size washer/ dryer.
Bathroom amenities include shampoo and conditioner, soap, towels and wash cloths. Extras if you forget an item, tooth brush toothpaste and razors. There is also a full size ironing board and iron for your convenience. The screened front porch is perfect for starting your day with a cup of coffee or ending your day with a glass of wine, overlooking an expanse of yard with beautiful live oaks. We have a fox that visits every night, owls, and a pleathora of birds. We also have had a few unusual visitors, a sheep was visiting for a while until we had it relocated to a better home!
We are located 4 minutes to Summerville town square, 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, 15 minutes to West Ashley, 15 minutes to Cummins, Bosch, 20-25 to Boeing (airport) and 20 minutes to the new Volvo plant
The beach is about 45 minutes away and we will supply beach towels and chairs.
We truly hope to make your stay pleasurable and carefree. Charleston is known for its hospitality!
We are available as little or as much as you need!

About the host

Hosted by Marianne STABENAU

Host profile image
Mari-anne grew up in the Charleston area but moved around the Southeast while raising children but the Lowcountry was always home. David is from away, Detroit, but happily moved back to the Charleston area with Mari-anne and settled on Summerville.
They both love hiking, boating, fishing, shrimping, bird watching and more recently Pickball!

Why they chose this property

We purchased our home because of the many Live Oaks and the park like setting. We enjoy listening to the birds waking in the morning and watching the sun set through the live oaks branches.

What makes this property unique

Our home and cottage has a country feel but we are in a thriving town with all the amenities a few minutes drive away.
