About this property
NO PHONE, NO POOL, NO CIGARETTES,
NEAR ARIZONA TRAIL, FOREST ADJACENT
Nestled deep in cool Coconino National Forest between the Grand Canyon (56 miles) and Flagstaff's Snow Bowl (19 miles). You choose whether to nest in the cozy cottage or explore the adjacent woods and trails. Hunters will be in AZ Fish and Game Unit 7E. November, December and January generally closed due to snow. If you can independently handle bad roads and lots of snow, inquire about desired dates. Home is off the grid: electric power comes from solar panels, propane for cooking and heating. The rain water collected for washing and flushing is non-potable. Drinking water is stocked. AT&T and Verizon users get a signal . . . but you can always turn your phone off. There is secure WiFi. You'll need a sturdy vehicle (pickup or 4 wheel drive recommended) to travel the seven miles of dirt road. The drive is slow but provides lovely vistas and opportunities to spot deer, elk and antelope. Sleeps up to 6: 1 queen bed, bunk beds, futon and hide-a-bed in the couch. Linens and cookware are provided. Don't trust "What's Nearby" Google often directs guests to a similarly named street inside the City of Flagstaff.

We enjoyed our stay immensely, particularly the mountain views, outdoor space, solitude and access to hiking trails right out the door. We saw deer, javelina, hummingbirds and other wildlife. Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful and there were all varieties of wildflowers in bloom this time of year. The road in was primitive but the driving instructions were detailed and clear. The cabin was clean, grill worked great, beds comfortable and showers hot with good water pressure. It was fun to stay in an eco friendly cabin and we’ll recommend this place to our friends and stay again!

Thank you for the lovely review - your javelina sighting was unusual, so glad you got see something special.
The antidote for "civilization." The property sits on an expansive and private parcel in a gorgeous area whose landscape combines tall conifers and open meadows. The cottage has been tastefully refreshed inside and contained more amenties than we had anticipated. It should be noted that we had good cell coverage (using T-Mobile) without having to use the hosts' secure wi-fi. The host, Linda, was a delight to work with, comprehensively answering my many questions and happy to offer suggestions to enhance our stay.If you have a sturdy vehicle to traverse the dirt road to the cabin and are looking to hike and chill out in nature, it doesn't get better than this!

Thank you for the kind words. We love the property and it makes us happy to know others do also.
An incredible stay. The forest setting is something special - quiet, removed from everything, and exactly the reset we needed. It was our first time staying fully off the grid, and the solar and reclaimed water setup made it a surprisingly seamless experience. The space was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked without losing that tucked-away feel.We brought our dog and the property was perfect for him too. Plenty of room to roam and genuinely pet-friendly. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay at this beautiful property. The area is very private and perfect for a quiet getaway. The surrounding national Forest offers many opportunities for exploring Northern Arizona. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!

Overall great place to stay if you’re looking to get off the grid. We had some issues with the solar power but host was able to help us out when we needed it.

Thank you for the lovely review. We hope to have you back one day!
Perfect for a small family with a couple of kids. You can even bring the family dog! We enjoyed our stay and the helpful suggestions of things to do around the area. The only thing I would suggest if you're going to stay here is to bring a large cooler with extra ice as the fridge is a little small.

Thank You Savanna. You are right about the small fridge, I will add that information to the general description.

Enrique thank you for this, we look forward to having you back!
The cabin is very nice and comfortable. The forest service road going back to the cabin is slow going and bumpy. However, the scenery and views make the trip worthwhile.
Wonderful cabin in a perfect location. All directions were easy to follow, and owner/manager was extremely helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend booking this cabin and can't wait to book it again when I draw another deer tag.

Thank you - I hope your family made wonderful memories in Arizona.
What a secluded and peaceful place! The owner did a fantastic job communicating road conditions and providing detailed directions for a stress free check in. The neighborhood is beautiful to hike/walk around. The cottage has a great view of the mountains and contains just the right kinds of amenities to make it comfortable while still feeling like you're getting away from it all. Thanks for a great stay!

So glad to hear you enjoyed the Cottage as much as we do!
Like others have mentioned, Linda is a superior host. We had 3 very active days in AZ, and this was a great homebase. It was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, hiking, or just relaxing around the property. The stars were amazing and we saw plenty of wildlife within a short walk of the cabin.
