We had the most wonderful stay at An Cala. It may well be the most beautiful holiday home I have ever stayed in. Everything about it was perfect. We'll definitely be back!
Fantastic property which suited our needs perfectly. Lots of space for everyone. The hot tub was superb, relaxing whilst listening to the river at the bottom of the garden - bliss!
This was a wonderful spot for my family!
The hot tub, huge kitchen and bedrooms were all the best! Clean, soundproof bedrooms were great for having small kids with us. Delightful stay!
This place has been the highlight of our trip. Not only was it comfortable, it was incredibly beautiful!! Would love to visit again someday. The entire Village is so friendly and we loved hiking and exploring
What a stunning house! Exactly what I had hoped for. The location is perfect for long walks with the dogs. The hot tub is a great addition to the lovely balcony over looking the river.
We had a relaxing family time in this lovely warm home. The main open space is great and easy access to the hot tub. Lovely in the tub with the snow falling.
Lara is a perfect host, very helpful especially when we arrived.
Fantastic stay - couldn't have wished for anything more
The property is wonderful, Lara has been so attentive to detail and everything you could possibly need is there. It's even better than the photos, and we would recommend it to anyone. We'll definitely be back again.
Large spacious home - room for extended family in a beautiful area - great walking and beautiful lochs. Well equipped and clean. Cosy log burner and hot tub,
We had a lovely 3 nights - house was beautiful, comfortable and clean. It had everything we needed even down to cutlery and plastic plates/bowls for our young children to use. Location was brilliant, so peaceful but just a short drive from Aviemore/landmark/highland wildlife park etc. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the gardens and hot tub. Loved it and would definitely come back!
We were a group of 2 families, and stayed for 1 week over Easter 2024. The property is brilliant - there is plenty of communal space, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are also of a high standard. The whole property is really nicely furnished and kitted out, & feels cosy and welcoming. The views are amazing, and it's a very peaceful location, but very easy to access all the walks/trails/hills and only about 15mins from Aviemore. We really enjoyed our stay, 5 stars!
We had a weekend away with some friends in December 2023 and cannot fault the house or location.
The house had plenty of room, was clean and Lara was a great host who communicated very promptly.
The weather was snowy, -7 degrees and having the two log burners was very much appreciated. Sitting in the hot tub in -7 degrees temperate was an experience :)
Would certainly book again!
We stayed for 2 nights recently at An Cala. The property is perfectly situated for travelling through the Cairngorms and experiencing all it has to offer. The priority itself was very well presented, clean and overall just perfect. Set in a quiet location it had all the amenities you could wish for. Lara, the host was on hand available to speak to throughout our stays the welcome cakes were a lovely touch. We couldn’t have asked for more and would definitely recommend the property to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
Where do I start, from the location to the property everything was just fantastic. A stunning large house in the forest overlooking the Nethy River. My children loved playing in the river everyday and the views from the house were stunning. None of us watched TV. Sitting around the fire in the evening staring at the silhouette of the forest was just dreamy.
Nethy bridge was a beautiful place with great cafe and amenities walkable from the property.
Thank you Lara for letting us stay. We are already looking forward to booking again!
Our stay in An Cala was perfect and exceeded our expectations. The layout of the house worked so well for our family group (grandparents, children and grandchildren). A sliding door between the snug and the large living area is genius. The adults chatted around the cosy woodburner while the grandchildren watched tele in the snug without disturbing each other. We loved the large living space (high ceilings); felt as if there was ample space for the 8 of us to do our own thing while together in the same room. An extremely well equipped home, beautifully clean set in the stunning highlands. Lots to do in the area (grandchildren skied at Lecht, visit to nearby Highland Wildlife Park, lots of forest walks searching for fairy houses) but also ovely to stay in and read. We even built a 1000 piece jigsaw together - a first for us!
Lara was brilliant. Responded swiftly to text or email and arrived within minutes to fix the hot tub cover when it blew off overnight.
Don't miss the fish and chip van in the village on a Monday and do try the excellent pizza from Andersons.
An cala is truly a haven.
We were very disappointed that the hot tub jets and lights did not work. They have clearly not worked for a long time because this is stated in the welcome pack. It was like sitting in a hot bath. The only sofa in the accommodation was extremely uncomfortable, the seats had no cushion in them, we tried turning them over to fluff them up but the other side of them were filthy. The pans are unusable, very black and burnt everything. We had to purchase our own pans to cook in. Only a minimum amount of towels were provided, it was a charge of £20 if we requested more. Finally, we were asked to strip the beds on leaving which was a first for us in a luxury holiday home. We ended up leaving a day early. Having said all of that, it was a big, bright and airy home (albeit a bit cold at times) and it is set in a beautiful location, but these little things took away the luxury aspect of it for the price we paid.
