There is also a wet bar with a sink. The laundry room is in the basement, with an additional refrigerator. From the basement, you can walk out the French doors to another ground-level patio with seating.

WOnderful Cabin

CAbin was wonderful. Plenty of space and separate living areas if you have a lot of people. Owners were very attentive, coming immediately when the sound bar for the TV didn't work. And we saw 6 elk! Fantastic!

Beautiful location in nature

The property is situated in an excellent location. We had people walk by while we were enjoying the weather on the front porch and comment on how it seemed like the perfect vacation rental. Accommodates a medium sized group well.

Wandering Elk Cabin was great.

This was a great place, it had everything. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The only challenge was the driveway. It was hard to turn around with 2 cars in the driveway. Pulling out of the property is hard to see oncoming traffic. Other than that was a great place to stay.

Amazing beautiful home

This cabin is amazing! They thought of everything. The kitchen, bathrooms are fully stocked with anything you could ever need. The cabin is clean, perfectly furnished with multiple sitting areas. Everyone will find something to do, play one of the multiple games, pool/ping pong, sit by the fire on one of the decks watching the wildlife.. the friendly neighbors make you feel right at home. You can’t go wrong renting this home. Debbie was a great host.

Comfortable home away from home!

I spent one week at this home with my family for Summer vacation! This home was perfect for a large family! We were all very comfortable! The home offered space, games, activities, etc. to keep us all busy! There was wildlife that came up to the deck (so fun). The location was perfect! Debbie was very helpful and communicative! Overall this was a great experience and we recommend this home to anyone looking for an all around wonderful experience in the woods!

Wonderful Cabin

My son got married in Pine at the Tonto bridge park. We reserve three homes in Pine to accommodate friends and family. Wandering Elk was the best cabin and our hostess Debbie was the best. Debbie went out of of her to accommodate our needs, including to our two year old grandson. Theo has a blast with all the flags and animals, including Sammy the squirrel. The cabin became our “Base Camp” and the wedding was perfect. I strongly recommend Wandering Elk.

Treasured Quality Family Time

The COVID-19 pandemic canceled three weddings and four business trips for my husband and I in the past six months. We live in Mesa Arizona, and had bigger plans for my 60th birthday September 19, 2020. Not wanting to canceled another trip, I rented a VRBO for the first time.

Absolutely Perfect!

As a corporate event planner, it is always difficult to find the perfect accommodations for a business retreat. This cabin was was more than that! It had all the space we needed while still allowing privacy for everyone. It was the first time in my three years of planning this retreat that I didn't have any complaints from my co-workers. Debbie the owner was checking in with me to insure my group had everything they needed, without being overbearing and intrusive. We will be back again! I'm already planning a personal trip to the cabin with my friends!

So much room with lots of windows to view the beautiful trees and even some elk. Loved the big kitchen table that comfortably fit our group. So much room and comfort in this home! A hidden gem!

Our family had such a wonderful time at The Wandering Elk cabin! The cabin itself is so warm and inviting and had so much space for everyone. We had a lot of fun with the ping pong table, pool table, and the amount of games available, it kept us busy and off electronics! The beds were extremely comfortable and all the bathrooms had complimentary soaps, lotions, etc. which was a nice touch. The neighborhood is private enough that you feel like you're in the woods, but still had so many great places to walk and explore. Debbie, the host, is so fantastic! She was quick to respond to all communication, gave a lot of local recommendations for things to do and see, and overall was so easy to work with. We will definitely be back!

About the host

Hosted by Debbie Burney

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Debbie, my partner is Dave, and we absolutely love this cabin and the whole Pine community. We have a home in Chandler, and we often block several days between guests to stay at the cabin. It's as much our home as our Chandler house, and we love sharing it.

I had two dreams for many years; one was to live in the woods, and one was to own a vacation rental. With this cabin, I've realized both dreams! I love the feeling when you are on the back deck that you are in your own personal forest, with elk, deer, javelina, squirrels, and birds coming to visit. I even saw a little gray fox one night.

We bought the house in the summer of 2019, enjoyed it ourselves for a year, and then started renting right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I knew families weren't able to take vacations, people had been cooped up for months, so we decided to open our home and share it with people who badly needed to get outdoors and enjoy four seasons and the pine trees.

I try to get to know my guests a little before they arrive, find out what they love to do, learn about any special occasions or celebrations, and answer questions. You may get a phone call from me; I'll make it quick, I promise! I just want to have that human connection, and let you know that my number one goal is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Enjoy your visit to The Wandering Elk Cabin!

Why they chose this property

Since we live in the Valley but love the woods, Pine is a quick and easy getaway. Before buying this cabin, we rented other places in Pine. We learned what made a great vacation rental, and what made one not-so-great, and applied that to making ours the best we could make it. We love the charm of Pine, the people who live around us, and the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

You'll feel the love when you walk into the Wandering Elk Cabin. The first thing you'll notice is the huge chalet windows looking out to the ponderosa pines and juniper trees. Then you will notice how spotlessly clean and uncluttered it is, while still giving you that homey cabin feeling.

Next, you'll walk downstairs and see the comfortable sectional sofa, the ping pong table over the pool table, the comfy beds, the wet bar, the 65" Roku TV, and French doors going out to a covered patio and tree-filled backyard. You'll find outdoor games, a hidden picnic table, and Adirondack chairs circling a propane fire-pit.

Once back upstairs, you'll walk up another staircase to the Master bedroom loft. You'll step out the French doors to yet another deck, where some of the best star-gazing is found. The loft is stocked with more games, books, and a big reading chair and ottoman. When you are ready to sleep, you'll relax in the king-size Nova-Form bed with soft sheets and lots of pillows.

You'll never want to leave.
