Stylish new boutique coastal retreat

2 people 1 bedroom 1 Bathroom

Brand new stylish 'boutique' beach cottage nestled amongst our olive grove, surrounded by the tropical & native garden of our 2 and a half acre coastal retreat. Listen to the sound of surf from your bedroom, relax and enjoy nature at its best on the sunny deck. A short walk to the unique bird life on the estuary across to the spectacular private end of Waipu Beach with its white sand, clear blue water. Enjoy this special place, perfect for recharging your body and soul.

You can choose to have a totally private experience or join your hosts around the outside fireplace / pizza oven in the evenings when weather permitting. Wander around the French inspired vegetable garden and olive grove.

Kayak in the estuary, beautiful coastal walks, swim, surf and fish at the beach or feeling fit try kayak fishing off the beach. The sleeps 2 in style and comfort but happy for children to stay or another couple using the queen size sofa bed in the living area .

There is a range of cafes, shops and a local market at Waipu village. The surf club and beach cafe / restaurant is at the cove end of the beach. Close to Mangawhai and all that it offers, our delightful retreat is only 90 minutes north of Auckland.

Perfect weekend away

After deciding last minute to have a weekend away out of the city, we decided a little secluded cottage would be perfect. Communication was good. The house was clean and tidy. We did notice there was no extractor fan in the kitchen so had to cook with window and door open. The cottage is located next to the owners house so was not as secluded as it appeared/we wanted but was still a lovely place to stay.

Delightful. private property - owners have landscaped well and was perfect overnight stay. Bach is as new - modern interior and everything perfectly presented. Would recommend without hesitation.

Restful and peaceful

Lovely stay at this very serene, peaceful location with a thoughtful and beautiful interior. Really helpful hosts who lent us a sun umbrella as we left ours at home. Wondered about having some butter in the fridge along with the milk. Will definitely book again.

Cosy and warm winter stay

Very well appointed north facing cabin with double-glazed windows. The hosts are very welcoming. We stayed almost a week in August and loved it! We cooked most of our meals without problems. It was a walking holiday so there was plenty of beaches for us to visit and walk on. We also used one of the kayak (nice!).

We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen & choice of outdoor sitting areas. The listing accurately described the accommodation & the location was good in that it sits in between Waipu & the Cove. The bathroom was nice and light due to a clear glass door at the back of the cottage. Although extremely private, some might find that a little different and so its good to know that ahead of time. You may like to take a couple of extra clothes hangers. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous stay

My husband and I rented this studio for my birthday for a few days, and it was exactly what we were hoping for: a real treat. First, our hosts Jo and Peter were incredibly kind, accommodating and welcoming. We had a lovely time with them and will repeat the experience with great pleasure. Then, the property: a very cute, private studio surrounded by olive trees, with two beautiful decks out in the sun to enjoy the New Zealand summer. The place was spacious, clean and comfortable, with all the amenities to cook and have a good time. Cannot recommend enough. We loved it ! We shall be back soon! Quiet retreat

Lovely house, with good linen. Kitchen pretty basic, but fine. Needs more comfortable chairs. I think the listing could have been a bit more forthcoming about the distance from the beach. You have to walk across the estuary and it’s about 15 mins to the beach. But the estuary is beautiful. Nice spot but probably would not return because it’s quite expensive.

Just right!

It was great - lovely, stylish little cottage, set in beautiful sub-tropical gardens. A short walk to the estuary, and across to the most beautiful, isolated, white sandy beach - just right. Thanks for having us.

Between Two Waipu(s)

Lovely spot to base our exploration of Waipu, Waipu Cove, Mangawhai & Whangarei (though Whangarei Heads is about an hours drive). Quiet, cosy & new. Beach further than expected with a walk through the estuary waters then over the dunes... but the reward is kms of pristine beach which is all yours. We'd stay again! Thank you Jo!

Peaceful retreat 💜

This was sadly a very short stay for us as the property is lovely. Really nice space well situated away from the main house in your own tropical garden. Located a short drive to the beach and The Cove cafe. Jo the host had great communication and everything was just wonderful. We just wish it was longer! We will be back!
