About the host
Hosted by Pauline
Hi there, I’m a Kiwi but have lived aboard 20years before returning to the mother land. I’m in my 60’s and work part-time as a ceramicist, love art, films, gardening, the great outdoors, traveling, and good healthy food! My husband Desmond is Irish and grew up in Rome so speaks good Italian, was a very successful photographer in London and also has a passion for art. He makes his own digital art which he enthusiastically works on most days. We are easy to get on with and very respectful.
Why they chose this property
The property is blessed with natural beauty and tranquility, enjoy the peace and quiet of the estuary with wonderful changing views of the tidal water with lots of bird life. Relax in the outdoor lounge area, or on the sun lounger on the deck. 5min walk to swim in the estuary at high tide or 10 min drive to the stunning Mangawhai surf beach. Plenty of outdoor activities to be had including golf at one of the most prestigious golf courses in NZ (Te Arai Links), day hikes along the coast, an amazing recreational park for kids including an international skate board park, and of course some great eateries.
What makes this property unique
Our home is uniquely designed with all the modern comforts for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. You will feel the tranquility descend upon you as you enter, light filled and cozy at the same time. The property is framed by mature Pohutakawa trees often referred to as NZ’s native xmas tree, with its iconic display of red blossom around xmas. The house abounds with beautiful views over the estuary, constantly changing with the tides and an abundance of bird life.
